(a woman walks into a Geneticist's office, the Geneticist looks up from the lifeform he has splayed out on the table & see the woman is holding the bloodied, bashed remains of some creature, recognizes it & gives the woman a surprised look)

of course you could look at the "flintstones" tv show to get some ideas for bio-tech for civilians!

How about some bio-paint generator for the artistically inclined? Or maybe some sort of bio-fridge?
