Though historically, unless Leonard was somehow in the background during Mauve Squadron's misadventures during the post-Rain of Death period, there's little canonical documentation in the original Parkhyn material that Leonard had either any particular reason or opportunity to come into contact with, or acquire a dislike of Mauve Squadron. The Mauves would have been under the remaining RDF(old terminology) command structure until they transited to become the UEEF/REF and the ASC assumed the role of the UEDF. They were still effectively Somebody Else's Problem from the Southern Cross command viewpoint.

Actually there appears to be time mix up here ... Chief Toombs is the illegitimate son of the original Mauve Squadron's Toombs. Miazaki's Mauve Squadron was formed after the battle of Reflex Point as part of the UEEF's reorganization. It's made up surviving pilots and newbies who's assigned squadrons were decimated, both to give them a home and newly minted Captain Miazaki squadron to command.

Leonard was long dead when these guys came into being.

Fitting more in with New Generation's Mauve Squadron, shortly after the transport blows up, the IceGuarders learn it wasn't actually carrying Mauve Squadron, but in fact a supply of coffee. Cut to an enraged Jones chasing his men around the base with a wrench and a murderous look.

Not sure if Leonard's being coy here...he's old enough to be part of the organization that would set up the IG...and maybe had a few folks sent there himself, but I imagine he'd wash his hands of it later and forget about them(as opposed to actively trying to kill them).
He'd also have only a peripheral interest in the 37th, given the side interest the ASC has sunken into naval operations..Mainly what he hears of them are his political allies and an occasional wet-admiral complaining about their depredarions...

Actually, a surprising number of ASC units turned pirate during this period...the 37th was just the most blatant about it(and arguably with better cause than most).
There was, for instance, the 15th ATAC's brief foray into movie-pirating which, unfortunately, ended before Louie Nichols could discover and delete the entire approved shooting script for the Martian Mystery Women(or whatever the hell it was called-4th wall op ed).
Less well-known was the black market op run out of Monument City GMP HQ from Lt. Nova Satori's desk....every time the GMP tracked it down to its source, they mistakenly assumed that it was another GMP unit's black op and, figuring that their colleagues wouldn't appreciate having their sting op blown by another GMP unit, extended professional courtesy and quietly erased the trail that led them to MC GMP HQ to begin with.
The shortest rogue unit incident was the mutiny of the 32414th('Savage Chickens') Tactical Squad, whose brief moment of rebellion ended when the commanding officer of the unit, while dramatically gesturing with a hand grenade while declaring the unit's decision to become bandits, inadvertently armed and dropped the device into the ammunition crate on which he was standing, in the middle of the fuel depot that all six members of the 32414th had gathered to finalize the plans of their secession from the UEDF. The resulting explosion and loss of life was blamed on 'human carelessness'.
