Zombie RPG??

You are on your own. The Army is MIA and our government is gone! There are no communications of any kind. Cities and towns have gone dark, and zombies fill the streets. The dead have risen and it would seem to be the end of the world. Help me, Mommy!

For all you zombie lovers, check out the song by Jonathan Coulton "Re: Your Brains". It is hillarious. If you go to youtube you can see a really good amatuer video; do a search for Re Your Brains (Dragon*Con TV).

Enjoy, and remember, all we want is just your brain and your dice!

I got a great product idea to be released with Dead Reign:

(drum roll)

TICKLE ME ZOMBIE

"Arrgg..gawg..gawg..uuunnnhh....uuunnhh...gawg..." As the zombie figure slowly wiggles around.

:D
Mephisto: You have some morbid fantasies. I like it (okay)
pblackcrow:"If anyone deserves this it's you! (thwak) LOL...All in fun."
Natasha: Bob you're deadly. I like it.
Misfit KotLD: You're Gamer Bi-Polar.
Sanford: Excellent concept, Big Bob!
sasha: I think Bob gets the JUST A GAME award....for life.
Jerell: You sir, are ruthless, and that is why I like you.

Personally, I think the market for Zombie RPGs is too small - with All Flesh Must be Eaten already there. Not a popular opinion, I guess, but still its mine.

well, I would (most likely) buy it. I love the "smaller" game-lines of the Megaverse, like Nightbane, BTS, Systems Failure...I just wish they'd get more support.

and I wish Dead Reign all the best...I just think that AFMBE covers the whole Zombie-survival-thing pretty good (I bought it yesterday and it makes a nice read). And Im afraid maybe Dead Reign is a little late...just imagine what it could have done a couple o' years back, when Dawn of the Dead came out, or 28 Days later...

Grr...rassa-frackin' pushed back release date...ah well, some friends have asked me to run a game for them where they're trying to either find a lost land or island, or make an oil rig collection of salvaged ships to make their own private country with a hope for a Utopian society. What they don't know is that they'll be out to sea when a mysterious wave of pain hits them, and when they come back to land...fortunately there's enough in the Rifter that I can run the game until the full book comes out. Unfortunately they'll be at a disadvantage when it comes to fighting entire groups of zombies as per the new book rules for combat. Palladium Books: Killing PC's slowly with their pushed back release dates, one month at a time.

I think people will have fun with this game, there's so much potential. I'm running a game for friends that started as a Heroes Unlimited-esque setting in 2012 where the players wanted to adventurers and treasure hunters, with their own converted offshore oil rig as their mobile base.

Then the Wave hit. It's an hour after and they're getting to see the chaos firsthand, it should be interesting. In the meantime until the main book for Dead Reign comes out, I'll fill in missing pieces with Hades and other Minion Wars books. And since it's at sea, why not a Black Ship as a possible foe? Plus with going into the Bermuda Triangle and possibly other realities, I should keep them busy and having fun until Dead Reign is in my hands.

What rules are you referring too?

But anyways.. yeah, this should be fun.. I read through the rifter and was impressed by it. I look forward to reading the core book when it comes out.

Played the demo at GenCon this weekend and liked the feel of the game. It was interesting playing a mime... :?: Yes I was a mime...and he rocked. I like what they did with the zombies being more along the lines of PPE vampires kind of, creating the absolute NEED for the undead to eat the humans. Didn't run into any of the upper levels of zombies (my understanding is that we fought the "stereotypical" type of zombie- a low echelon type).

I hope I don't get into trouble for posting this info...it's my first post on the forums and I'd hate to already be in trouble...

I'm running a Dead Reign one-off session for some pals on Saturday night.

It's being set in my home town of Portland (the peninsular in the UK) which is hosting the sailing events of the 2012 London Olympics (fact). As The Wave occurs before the actual games, I'm running it so that the players are locals who have won a competition to tour the facility and witness Team GB sailing time trials.

The only annoying factor is that the Wave strikes at 12:00 EST, which is about 07:00 GMT, so I've had to come up with a reason why the tour starts so early! I'm planning to play through the wave during a presentation in a locked conference suite. I've not told the players which game we're playing, just that it's Palladium and that they should make up some average joe characters. Hopefully, should be a "nice" surprise.

Anyone have any hints or tips for running Dead Reign based on the Rifter material?

I can't wait for this game to come out. In the meantime i'm just going to run (unless the game comes out before my friend's villains game is over) the pc's as ordinary people using the stuff in the Rifter. I already have one of them trying to be slick with me and want to have the Zombie Survival Guide. If he makes the roll i'm thinking of saying that he has it but he left it back at work.

Well i say them the wave hit and then the panic happen or just set it some time after the wave. My setting will be just under 2 days after the wave hit. I'll have had the characters get together just by random (survivors running into each other). I keep trying to use Dawn of the Dead as a reference. :-D

I know it's not much of a suggestion, but it's all i could think of. Still hope it helps you somewhat sHaka.

the Tour could be starting early as a "private" tour. Before the crowds/public get there. The time trials could be scheduled for later on in the day.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, alas they come nearly a month late :P :)

It went ok, to be honest the main order of the night was a catch up with mates and cider, but we did play for a bit and we had a good time.

I've never run a zombie game before, though I do own a copy of AFMBE. I must admit, it quickly dawned that this kind of game certainly poses some unique problems.

How do you cope with such a large cast of NPCs, especially in combat situations? Will the RPG provide suggestions on running games?

As is my friends and i just finally started RPGing again. Of course Palladium has the best games. :D

Well it is a zombie game, so thinning the herd shouldn't be much of a problem. ;)

It just depends on how you want it. I plan to have key characters and hopefully if the characters cooperate (with a nudge from some undead... ) they'll get to the "safehouse" Then things will hopefully get interesting. It's still a work in progress, though i'm just buying time until the game comes out, (better be before holloween.... )as my friend is still running his game.

I can't wait for this book to come out! Those who G.M. will you allow animals to be infected? I was looking at the Rifter #40 and it said no animals were infected, but can you just imagine a Zombie Grizzly Bear attacking the heroes.

I will put up a full review later, but I just got back from the Palladium offices. (Went there over the weekend).

I got to see the art from Bradshaw and newcomer Amy Ashbough and all I have to say is "WOW"!
That and I think Bradshaw must have some wickedly evil dreams/nightmares cuz his art just scares/scars me! It was freakishly scary.
