Which RIFTS ULTIMATE occ would YOU go for ??

Unread post by TechnoGothic »

THIS is a ME, MYSELF, & I question...

YOU, not a character.
If You found yourself in RIFTS ULTIMATE, which OCC would you TRY to become or would fall into if you ignored training yourself in a OCC ??

This means RCCs are right Out the window folks.

As for Psychics...
If you found yourself with them which area would you focus on as an OCC/PCC...

Stay to this List please, no write in votes ;)

ALSO this is not Which OCC you like BEST, its which OCC you would go for, actually go for...You Know the side-effects ahead of time on augementation process...

As for i tied between these :

Combat Cyborg
Crazy
Juicer

if i ignored training, i'd be a Vagabond by default or Scholar...

Though i would go for Augmentation if i had the creds...
The Cyborg would appeal the most at first...
The MOM Implants would be very tempting if i got see one in action i must admit
Juicer's build would appeal to me, but the drugs/harness would lower their appeal to me, the short lifespan would kill that idea completly...

So for me...
Borg
Crazy
...i cannot decide which

Screw it, i voted Crazy...i'd get Hidden Implants if i could though.
That way i'd be "normal" but augmented...
I could always go borg later ;)

Wouldn't mind the Master Psychic option though...or a SN Monster specialty...but heck, I could fight the Coalition and human Techno Bandits.

Lacking the 100% belief in magic it takes to be a mage, and the dedication it takes to be a cyber-knight or other highly skilled OCC, I'd more than likely just be a vagabond.

Or, even though you didn't list it, a Sandwichmaker OCC.

Cyber-Knight for sure. Runners up were the Shifter and Ley Line Rifter in that order.

Either Glitter Boy Pilot OCC or Combat Cyborg.
If it's stupid and it works. It's not stupid

Palladium can't be given a free pass for criticism because people have a lot of emotion invested in it.

Pathfinder is good. It is not the second coming of D&D.

Wow, i'd figure more ppl would choose Augmentation OCCs more than special Taining OCCs...

I dont have the patience to learn Magic...That would be like going back to High School and Collage all over again to reprogram the mind etc...
Same for the Psychic OCCs, even if i gained some minor psychic powers i would not have the patience to spend years learning to control and master them to a degree to be one of the Psychic OCCs...

The Augmentation OCCs are faster to gain and learn.
They also remove alot the weakness of the human body or replace it with machine parts...

I went for Mind Melter with Mystic as my back up plan. I already have 6th sense now if I can only get it to kick off 15 seconds beforehand instead of 2 tenths of a second beforehand I'd be in like Flint. :p

Shifter. No contest.

And if you can't muster the requisite belief in magic being in an environment like rifts earth... I just don't know what to say about ya. :-?

Of any OCC, for starters, it's the best shot one might have at getting 'home' ... which I think most of us would at least have a passing interest in. Aside from that, it is still just a damn cool idea... then again, my favorite PF class is Summoner, so... :demon:

Tough call between a Operator or a Techno-Wizard. In the end I went with TW since this was about what I would like to be and not what I would be if rifted from my keyboard right now to Rifts.

Although I must say the idea of being a Cyber-Knight does have it's appeal. That being my other passion in life besides machines. I have a strong sense of justice and selfless service.

By the books, most of the people on Rifts Earth can't muster the kind of belief it takes to be a mage....

Which strikes me as somewhat... illogical. If you can see and experience something belief generally flows right behind. Even CS folks 'know' that magic is real.

Personally I don't consider 'belief' the requisite factor in learning magic. I would tend to call it something more like 'passion' or perhaps 'faith'.

Belief isn't just in that it exists, but that you have to power to harness and cast magic. You also need belief/faith in yourself young padawan. ;)

In this Situation, I'd have to say Cyber-Knight all the way. Cyber and psychic enhancements to a decent combat oriented OCC with good equipment and title/reputation.
It'd be like attending a cross between attending a martial arts academy and bootcamp, both I can handle. I'm a pretty moral person too and would feel obligated in most situations to do the right thing.

Shifter or Leyline Walker/Rifter

Unread post by Astral_Explorer »

:D

If I ended up with powerfull psionics I would be happy with Mind Melter, or Burster. I like the Zapper but thats not base book.

I like the thought of personal power instead of the use of items, so Magic would be the way to go. As far as it taking years to master, heck it only took weeks or months for the people of Chaos earth to develop magic, and they didnt have a mentor or teachers just the will to try something new and mimic what they have seen.

The reason I like the Shifter, is because now they can finally actually travel, going from place to place. The Leyline Walker and to a greater extent the Ley Line Rifter have the same ability to get around with ley
line phasing, but the Shifter can actually do some major exploring see new horizons and act as interdimensional taxi cab man if they want.
That's why I like the Shifter.

Not to mention smart mages who are out of range, or low on P.P.E.

It would take work, but becoming a CS Specialist would pay mass dividends. Not only would you have the power of a CS military officer, but you also get all the toys of a RPA:Sam and the field time of a Grunt, with several under your comand. Not a bad way to live under the circumstances if you ask me.

Assuming you were in Rifts you would see magic on a routine basis so denying its exsistance (AKA not believing in it) is not an issue, What would hold you back is not believing 100% that YOU can control it.

Or, even though you didn't list it, a Sandwichmaker OCC.
 Good reference! Average Joe marooned on some alien world making use of his one true talent.

Me?

I voted TW, I love gadgets and if I had the experinece of witnessing magic on a daily basis I would have no problem beliving that I could control it... and use it to power my gadgets!

As a second choice I would go for a Mind Melter or Burster.
