Phase Technology - capacities, limits, samples & other sundry

Unread post by SolCannibal »

Beside DB2 proper, does any other book explore what precisely Phase Technology can or not DO and/or applied upon, be it personal effects, machinery, vehicles, buildings, etc? Also, does anyone remember any references to groups beside the Prometheans with any sort of familiarity with it?

Trying to cook up some ideas out of some minor book reference i bumped into - not even in a 3Gs book, to boot - for future (ab)use.

Easy answer no and no. DB6 gives the costs of Phase Drives and DB13 has a Kreeghor ship with phase tech on it but that really is it as far as I know.
“No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against that power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once, we will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.”

I did forget about the Phase Demon in DB 12 but it has no new powers or anything, just a demon version of the prometheans.

Even with all the additional information about Center in DB12 we still don't get much more about the prometheans or phase tech, aside from some stuff on phase tranceivers. So yes it's wide open for new powers or tech.

Just as aside remember that Prometheans and phase adepts also get psionic abilities so I have been adding stuff from CS Manhunters to them.

Except Phase Demons are created through peculiar permutations between space-stranded sophonts of any species and phase drives.
Small details that can lead to huge consequences, depending on circunstances.

(As an aside, you might have just solved for me the possible origin of certain pieces of phase technology in a place with no ties whatsoever with the Prometheans...)

Sometimes i'm strongly tempted to mess around with some blurry grey areas of intersection between the disciplines of Prometheans & Phase Adepts, Temporal Raiders, Temporal Wizards & Warriors and Shifters that the books seem to imply exist at times, just to see what sort of strangeness could come out from the other side.

Anyway, my interest is more in using a vague blurb on phase architecture so to speak i bumped into one of the World Books as a hook and springboard for hare-brained ideas and background expansion to a mostly forgotten locale.
