Unread post by slade the sniper »

Are there any rules or skills for religious/psionic asceticism in any of the books or anywhere in the Megaverse?

The Japanese & Chinese Monk classes found in World Books 8 & 25 are both essentially mystic aescetics. I also believe the Psi-Warrior class was described in similar terms in WB12.

There's a Fasting Skill in Mystic China that lets you go extended periods without food or drink without suffering penalties.

There is nothing that gives you special powers or abilities in return for giving up Equipment, if that's what your asking. There are ways to become MDC or deal MDC through training with various incarnations of Martial Arts (Conversion book 1, Rifts Japan and Rifts China have conflicting versions on how this works), which make an equipment-less character more viable, but astheticism isn't required and Nothing stops you from using them with equipment and weapons and armor as without. Some styles do forbid armor or weapons and/or encourage asceticism, but others don't and work just as well if not better.

You can have something done good, fast and cheap. If you want it done good and fast, it's not going to be cheap. If you want it done fast and cheap it won't be good. If you want something done good and cheap it won't be done fast. ~ Dark Brandon

Thank you for finding an excellent way to reword my question to make it far more comprehensible.
