The TGE is also at a cold war standing with the ATPDS because of them seeking alliance with the CCW. The ATPDS is currently at war with the Manhunters whom have changed their tactics from subtle diversionary terrorist acts, though they use them alot still, to full on conquering and enlsaving of any world that has Terrans and their allies. (This includes any world that has Humans or any race known to ally with humans. The UWW is currently mostly neutral staying out of the war with the TGE and the CCW. They have accepted a number of worlds that the KIA (Kirn Institute of Astromancy) hold sway over.
The Atorian Empire is rising in power and slowly talking over worlds in its vicinity, as is the Arkhon Empire. The Atorian Empire was entertaining an alliance with the Tarlok but because of their beliefs on women they are being shunned by the AE now.
The Central Alliance are as Mercs to the core. Taking jobs from the highest bidder no matter who they are. Though the Manhunters view them as an abomination and the Holy Order of the Void is constantly sending Missionaries to get them to join the Order.
Pirate and Wrecker raids are increasing in frequency. The war makes good business for them as well as for any and all Weapons Dealers, NE and Hartigal Combine included.
Attacks have been occuring on colonies and space stations by an unknown force that defies sensors. They arrive without warning from within sensor range attack, destroy and raid taking what they need destroying what they don't though they do not kill wantonly so their have been survivors. They disappear just as quickly leaving no traceable signature.
In regards the the Shadenthian Empire:
200000+ Galactic Years ago They Rose up and took control of many parts of the Galaxies. Through Conquest or Peaceful negotiations. They ruled over their Empire with a fair but firm hand. Then scientists in their home system discovered that their star was unstable. Though they could discover no cause they did discover that they had a limited time to evacuate the system. Recalling their entire Military they gathered as many of their race as they could onto their ships. A number of their ships had a new experimental Drive system. But their calculations were off. They didn't have as much time as they thought. Just as they were preparing to leave they system the sun went Supernova.
Something strange happened in that Supernova, whether it was because of the intense release of energy in the explosion combined with the planets magical reaction to its sudden destruction or the Shadenthian Gods looking out for their charges. Suddenly the Majority of the Exodus Fleet Vanished. Some of the ships were destroyed or very damaged in the explosion. But enough survived that they were able to collect themselves and assist the survivors. Once that was done they then took stock of their surroundings. And realized they were no longer in any part of space that they recognized. For one Visual scans showed a black starless void with crimson lines of power in the distance. Blood colored Lightning flashed along those lines of power. After weeks of searching they found they had no way out of this strange place. Using some of the damaged ships that were not fully space worthy but still usable they dismantled them and rebuilt them into a space station. Settling in they learned more of this strange place. Making discoveries regarding the nature of this place. Aeons Later they finally discovered a way out. Outfitting probes with this new technology they pierced the barrier between where they were and realspace. Once they started getting data from the Probes. They made even more discoveries. They found that time flows differently for those in Hyperspace then it does outside in realspace. Using these discoveries they leaped in advancements even further.
Testing these Advancements they sent forth the Heir the the Imperial Throne, Trained by their highest Order. He was given command of the flagship of the fleet. The Shadow Raven, assisted by a new cybernetic AI system that allowed him to be the sole person in command of the vessel. He was given a mission to gather information on the state of affairs of the Galaxies and recruit natives to crew the ship and learn as much as he could from them.
