Hiya Kagashi,

I've been lurking on the site for a couple weeks and am trying to wrap my head around how it works (there doesn't seem to be a comprehensive post on how the site flows).

I notice that not all of the character groups have dedicated forums for their adventure, is that because their adventure is taking place in the MercTown threads? And if that's so, what's a good way to find out which threads they're being active in (other than checking their profile for most recent posts).

This site seems to be very cool, but confusing / unwelcoming for someone that hasn't been doing it for a while. I've done play by post on other sites, but this one is decidedly different. (In some good ways)

From bits I've gathered here and there, it's not cool to register on the site without creating a character and getting into a game in a certain amount of time. Is that right?

You are correct. We've created a few "readme" sections to try and help people join games, but no real navigation post. We'll have to see about fixing that.

PC groups in the main Rifts: MercTown game have two options for adventures. In the city of MercTown, and outside it.
The threads for the MercTown part of the site have been more-or-less fully fleshed out- there is a thread for every (or almost every) location described in the actual book, as well as a few others our enterprising mods have added over the years.

However, those adventures are considered more along the lines of side-quests. The full adventures are listed below the "North America & MercTown" section, in the section entitled "Adventures". Each of the subforums in that category is a different group's adventure, and within that subforum you will find the current adventure thread for that group (that is, the thread with the most recent posts in it).

Kagashi's monster game can be viewed in much the same way, only in the "Eurasia and Africa" section below "Adventures".

Also, your impression is correct. We do not allow people to register accounts unless they plan on playing and/or GMing. Generally speaking, folks have two weeks from the day their account is activated to get cracking (though we've been known to be flexible when necessary).

Would you consider a Sea-Titan Techno Wizard as too Munchkin for Merc Town?

Im going out on a limb and say...yes, too munchkin for Merc Town (although TGM is the ruling authority on that, not me). TGM is pretty much limits folks to non-munchkin levels in Merc Town. If you are looking for a higher level campaign, you want the demon game (where a Sea Titan is just another character). Course, Sea Titans are not approved character classes in that particular game, but that level of power is generally maintained.

I was wondering if you guys are planning to run any PFRPG games on your site? I wouldn't mind joining or running one in a couple of weeks from now.

We had one on Other Worlds, but it recently died out. Providing we find a good GM, I dont see why PF would not have a resurgence.

I hope so! I've poked around the site a bit, and I have to say: Wow. The games are consistently good, people are dedicated and articulate... I've played on my share of boards, and this is one of the very best.

I would apply to run a game, but I'll be moving in two weeks AND I'm a Palladium n00b. But I'd love to play in a PFRPG game if a GM would step forth.

I always enforce a "cool down" period after a game collapses which, let's face it, even on EU/OW happens on occassion. I think something like 2 PFRPG, 2 Robotech, 2 Nightbane, and 1 or 2 HU2 games have died over our nearly 3-year existence. Not to mention 5 or 6 Rifts groups that disbanded, reformed, were wiped-out, etc.

In short, I won't like be allowing a new PFRPG game to be run until FALL 2008 at the earliest.

And after DAYS & HOURS of explaining Palladium rules, the FAQ and WHY such rules, etc...player is a flake.

I'd like to join in a game but I am finding this site extremely user un-friendly. I consider myself an online veteran, running PBEMs on and off since '98 or so (and I do know how to run a PBP), and IMHO I find information gathering about character creation and how it works next to impossible. Perhaps it is a thread permission oversight on the forums, but as a user with no access or login I cannot find or access it.

The only character creation rules I did find was for the Euro game, and that had some confusing something or another about bidding and such.

I am unsure if I should ask but here goes anyway: whatever happened to rolling up a character and sending it in? Have I misunderstood something?

Please: I am not trying to be difficult here as I do want to try my hand at playing on those forums. It looks like fun!

For the MT game, its character creation as normal (you start at level 3 in that game). You simply create an account on EU and contact TGM (contact info in the link above). The Game Master is the approving official for that game.

EU will be present at the 2009 Palladium Open House IN FORCE.

At least half a dozen of the most dedicated players, moderators, and Game Masters will be in attendance at the hotly anticipated OH '09.

Also, a number of us will be attending GenCon Indy '08 on Saturday through Sunday. You can expect to see us lingering around the Palladium booth and hassling Jason Marker and Kevin as much as time and their audience/patrons permit. Jason, you can expect for my wife to attach herself to your hip!

Please don't hijack this thread with NPC submissions, we use this thread to highlight changes to EU & OW and make people aware of the site and its services/games.

It's often best to get a large batch of new players accustomed to a setting by pitting them against canon first...then a GM can surprise them with a left-hook villain from out of nowhere.

After a long hiatus, I'm preparing rejoin EU. Formerly, I was Elric/The Dark Tower. Not sure what I'll be in the future, since I'm hip-deep in rolling up new characters and doing background work atm.
