LOL That was a great one! :D
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"

"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

"As you will it, your Grace."

The 'Pugachev Cobra' is an aerobatic maneuver that's been done with the later model Sukhoki 'Flanker' fighters....it entales briefly flipping the plane over on its back, nose pointed backwards, while still flying forward for several seconds, before sliding back into a nose forward attitude....insanely difficult to do, and makes Hammer-stalls look like a clown pratfall....GERWALK makes the tactical value of such a maneuver obsolete, but I'm sure Rick Hunter and other hotshot 'jet' pilots still practice the maneuver manually for the show-off value...
Frankly...I'd HATE to be a passenger in a plane that did this maneuver unannounced...I get queasy just standing on the kitchen table...

If Rick thought he'd get a pilot-prodigy out of Rei II, here he's sadly mistaken...better long with the other two...

-Servicing Bay of the Newly Southern Cross-Occupied Tokyo-3 NERV Base...Big pool of coolant, massive EVA heads sticking up out of it...Southern Cross soldiers and operatives swarming around....when at one end...
...little sparklies...
...becoming big sparklies...
...Become a big expanding globe of light..
...Then...
POOF

Nine girls in different-colored skimpy outfits, and one guy in formal wear, appear.

Blonde Ditz: "IN the Name of the Moon, anime is to entertain and cuddle in front of....and...EEEEKKKK!!!!!! GIANT YOUMA!!!!"
Red-Clad Brunette: "Shut up, meatball head! Maybe we can ambush them!"
Blonde in Orange: "So many dark minions!"
Brunette in Green: "Yeah...it doesn't look like they've noticed us yet!"
Bluette in Blue: "Er....my scanners say those guys are...well...human..."
Guy in Formal Wear: "Fear not! Love and justice shall prevail, if you just take heart!"
Short Haired Blonde: "ALright! Let's dust them!"

"Psssttt..."
"Who...?...EEKKK!!! A TALKING RAT!!!!"
"Well, eek, a human! Yeah, I'm a rat, what's it to you?! Or have the cats been filling your brains with nonsense about us rodents? And I'm from INterdim by way of Lazlo, if you must know! And you're not supposed to be here. You're trespassing!"
Green Haired Woman with Mirror: "Well, d'uh, we're here to put down this den of evil!"
Interdim Agent: "No, I mean you're out of your copyright territory...we were here first!"
Group: "?"
INterdim Agent:"Look...those guys down there? They're not Dark ANYTHING..>They're Southern Cross, That means Robotech...That means they're Palladium domain...You're Sailor Scouts, ...You're Guardians of Gaming!"
Ditzy Blonde: "NO, we're Champions of Love and Justice, not Gaming! She's the Guardian of the Time Gates, though!"
INterdim Agent:"...eegggg....No, THey're Palladium sphere, you're GoG. This is Gainax territory, and it's currently being claimed by a Palladium-affiliated dimensional realm. You have to respect current crossover treaty and please bug off before you get hurt!"
Red-clad Brunette: "That sounds like a mighty big threat coming from a rat!"
GReen-Clad Brunette: "Bring on your minions, we've eaten bigger problems for breakfast!"
BLuette: "Uh-oh! They've noticed us!"(pointing where the armored soldiers are suddenly taking notice of the newcomers loudly arguing at the end of the bay, and starting to move towards the commotion)
Short-Haired Blonde: "ARGH! The rat was just distracting us!"
Green-Haired Woman with Staff: "Enough of this! Let's just collapse this place and destroy this place of evil and we can go! DEA-"
Interdim Agent: "..52%$&567766%$&&&..."*SSSSTTTT*
GHWwS: "...-ed scream..."*pppffttttt*"What the heck...what did you just do?!"
Interdim Agent: "'Negate Magic', 'Anti-Magic Cloud', and a few other countermeasures....Just leveling the playing field and showing you what I meant by you playing in somebody else's sandbox, Spam for Brains!...Later!..."(*ESCAPE*)

---The girls(and one guy) were still puzzling over that when the Robotech Defenders reached them. In retrospect, they MIGHT have been able to talk themselves out of the situation had not Uranus decided to attack the first TC trooper with her Space Sword and Jupiter fired off a much-diminished lightning bolt....After which the soldiers began taking them SERIOUSLY....
A certain blonde's klutziness proved invaluable for once, putting her over into an LCL vat just as a burst of automatic shotgun fire peppered the place she'd been standing...Unfortunately, she almost drowned before someone, in the heat of battle, noticed her flailing down there....
The rest of them quickly learned that skimpy outfits and formal wear do not stand up well to heavily armored opponents shooting energy weapons, high caliber automatic weapons, and grenades from behind cover, with advancing mechanized artillery support.
Oh, and did we mentioned the fifty-ton EVA-rated cargo net dropped from the overhead servicing gantries? Yeah, that insured a long stay in the detention center hospital....

Had she not been under heavy painkillers, anti-psychotics, and truth drugs, while under the intense scrutiny of a team of GMP interrogation experts, Pluto might have later agreed that re-thinking the whole 'pre-emptive crossdimensional strike' thing was a really BAD idea...

I have a love-hate relationship with the 'magic girl' genre...They should either be taught a lesson in serious drubbing by a REAL military unit(be it the Riders of Rohan or the Trantorian Imperial Marines), or, in the case of the less annoying ones, should be provided with an appropriate defensive wall of ablative meat....marines, military specialists, AFVs, and combat mecha..to deal with the 'other' problems(demented fanboys, hentai maniacs, assassination attempts...)

"Thanks....But I prefer my henshin sticks to be made by Barrett, in fifty caliber or greater....

"Okay..we beat up a bunch of cheerleaders, then sent them home, put away somebody a talking rat called a 'Temporal Killjoy' into a padded room, and re-secured the EVA bays...Anything else happen?"
"Gendo escaped. Went out through a secret passage in the cell bloc we put him in."
"Well, $^&!!!"
"Don't worry...we've done some reconstruction since we put him in...He's just discovered that his escape tunnel is now deadended and the only part of it still open, opens up into the shooting range we installed up on level twelve.."
"It does? Then, how long...?"
"About...now..."

-Gendo opens a panel and quickly slips out into a darkened corridor...turns around...and bumps into something...
Gendo: "A heet of paper...a sheet of paper on an...overhead rail?"

I guess it was quite a coincidence! Let's see more Gendo removal. Those are great when he is killed. :D

How about just tortured? :demon:

"Okay, prisoner came back....Wow, he's in bad shape! What did you hit him with, a blowtorch? There ain't an unbruised square itch of skin on his upper body...Well, we'll have to give him an anti-inflammation shot....Oh, we're all out of sterile needles? And the hypo's down for repairs? Oh, we DO have sterile needles! Okay....Ah, we have some eighty-sixes? Great! You're in for a treat, mister Gendo! We normally use eighty-sixes for injecting full-sized Zentraedi...The clinic names for them are 'MonsterMosquitoes' and 'Drill-Meisters'...Of course, we can't use them on your arms or calve veins without serious potential nerve damage, so...bend over....This may sting a BIT...."

Okay!

Now...In this setting(and Dairugger knows what I'm talking about)...If the Southern Cross sends a Fold-equipped Tri-Star-class cruiser)(or some other force) to the NGE Universe's Tirolian coordinates, what will they find?
A habitable, if uninhabited world waiting to be colonized?
A lifeless system?
A similar solar system, but no life at all, or evidence there ever was?
Or perhaps more ominously....A Tirol that shows all the signs that it WAS inhabited by an advanced human civilization...until something killed it....Perhaps their own version of Third Impact....

That is an interestingly twisted line of thought. If the Masters couldn't stop itm what chance does have.
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"

"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

"As you will it, your Grace."

Well...this is presuming a PRE-Robotech and spacefaring Tirolian society at about the same, if not earlier, level than NGE Earth...they had their own Impact events sequence...
Had they had Protoculture at that point, it might 've been a different story....

That's right, Dairugger and I haven't posted our different takes on how the whole NGE-Robotech conflict might have played out?

Well...in any event...you now have two Earths and two galaxies to play around in... :D

More, if one figures that crossing over into ONE universe being possible, adding MORE shouldn't pose a problem...

"Yep,,,,just another day at Juuban High....same people, same problems...same Hovertank squatting on the fro---okay, I thought we already apologized to those people...and they STILL haven't given us Setsuna back...."

Any interesting games around (aside from Bundy's, which is already converted to fanfic) involving multiple Robotech realities, or such? Could cause some interesting mishaps if a ship jumped realities and found time moving slower in the next one. Or faster. Or that events have played radically differently in one reality or another. :)
Currently Playing:

Robotech: Rising Sun hosted by Chris
Robotech 2044: Tales of the Misfits Next Generation hosted by RyuDraconis
Robotech 2042: Getting the Goods hosted by silvermoon383

Will update when another is added. :)

Okay...Let’s have a thought experiment in Southern Cross cross-dimensional neo-colonialism.

Having taken over NERV/Tokyo-3 and exposed the secret masters of the world, SEELE, as fiends out to dominate Humanity(in one form or other), and having duly impressed the people of NGE Earth with their honesty(and firepower), the Southern Cross and its civil government now have the NGE United Nations and major powers(those prickly Americans, for instance) clamoring to be led by their alternate Earth kindred.
Progress towards a UEsG(United EarthS Government) is proceeding apace, and while most nations and militaries of NGEarth (Neon Genesis Earth, NOT Northern Gun Earth---that will be covered under Alternate Worlds in the Dimensions forums...Corporate Worlds, such as Triax-America, and Chipwell-Sol) want to retain their autonomy, while getting all the cool Robotech toys. The Southern Cross is insisting on some standardization of equipment and organization, especially if NGEarth personnel are coming through the dimensional gates to help fend off the Masters and any other threats, and vice-versa....

Let’s see what we’ve got between the two worlds...
-Both Worlds have suffered massive catastrophes that have put powerful governments in charge of peoples’ affairs.
-Both worlds have suffered climatic changes.
-Both worlds have come under extraterrestrial(?) threat.

Robotech Earth:
The Rain of Death killed off over 2/3 of the global population. Damage was concentrated in the more densely populated northern hemisphere, which also wiped out much of the industrial infrastructure....However, Robotechnology has allowed the survivors to quickly rebuild industry, and space industries have supplemented the lost mines of the affected areas. The focus of population has begun to shift to the less affected regions of the Southern Hemisphere. Population growth is going up, as the need to repopulate, increase the labor pool, and (let’s face it) need to take pleasure in surviving, has resulted in a babyboom as living standards stabilize.
Despite the massive initial thermal event of the Zentraedi bombardment, Earth likley underwent a nuclear winter scenario, with global temperatures dropping, an advance of the ice caps, and possibly even a slight receding of sea levels, after the initial flash melting from Zentraedi weaponry(and the Grand Cannon’s destruction).
Compared to the masses of people on NGEarth, the population of REarth are outnumbered, but they’re also a tougher, more paranoid, and rather more xenophobic lot who watch the skies a lot. They’ve likely also set aside a lot of racial prejudices, especially in the face of bigger threats from offworld.

Neon Genesis Evangelion Earth
Rather than the multiple point-impact catastrophe that hit REarth, NGEarth suffers a ‘blanket’ global catastrophe that kills off over 1/3 of the global population, mostly in coastal regions and in the southern hemisphere, as Antarctica collapsed. Sea levels have risen, the South Pole is a crimson-hued liquid wasteland that refuses to refreeze, and as far as seasonal evidence in the anime can be trusted, there doesn’t seem to be a winter season...so a global warming situation is likely.
The major industrial powers of the Northern Hemisphere remain largely unaffected, except for the loss of coastal metropolitan regions as the seas rise, mass migrations inland to higher ground, and the devastation of former growing belts due to climatic change. The southern half of the globe is worst hit, having been hit by the intitial shockwaves of Adam’s awakening in Antarctica....New Zealand, southern Australia, India, Micronesia, Argentina, South-Eastern coastal Asia...all have been devastated by the event.
Depending on who you ask, and what sources you trust, NGEarth may have also suffered a DECLINE in birth rates, owing to everything from survivor guilt to contamination by Angelic particles(the whole Anno take on the thing is so messed uo, anything is possible).
Cities, especially new cities, seem to be the new focus of life, with Toko-2, Tokyo-3, and hints of other ‘second’ cities being established to replace previous lost (presumably drowned) cities...
Dickering and arguing between nations and cultures is still a BIG problem on NGEarth, with the old superpowers reluctant to give ground to a more powerful UN (believing instead that their ‘private’ dealings with SEELE give them an edge), and there will be a temptation to try to grab as much influence with the new kids on the block, the Southern Cross, before anybody else gets to them...the possibilities for corruption and political problems are immense...However, the same situation could lead to some good blackmail material for the SC, especially if they can successfully demonstrate how thoroughly SEELE corrupted world governments for their own agendas, and their callous disregard for human life....If the SC can prove that SEELE was behind Second Impact...and more close to home...ARRANGED for the loss of NERV-3 in America, the SC should have the nations of NGEarth clamoring for inclusion into a sane UEsG.

So a Southern Cross-style military organization is going to be established on NGEarth?

-Tactical Corps and Tactical Air Force are the most easily established, with UN troops being issued TC gear and armor, and conventional airforces receiving training in older SC-style aircraft, while newer models that can accommodate the added bulk of a pilot’s EBA are manufactured. Quick changeover there. REP, HWOS, and JS are likely to integrate smoothly with their UN Green Beret, Ranger, and regular military counterparts, and as climatic change turns more of NGEarth’s equatorial regions into expanding deserts, DS will be increasingly at home.

Alpha Tactical Armored Corps, TASC, Mountain Squad, and the Cosmic Units are likely to be seen as novelties for awhile...The SC will be reluctant to give up all the secrets of their elite mecha units , so the UN won’t be driving Hovertanks or AJACS anytime quickly....Likewise, while there will be a big push to start spreading Humanity out into space from NGEarth, it will be initially a mass civilian government program with SC oversight....a Cosmic Unit-style ‘specialization’ will not come into place for some time until the space colonies and facilities are armed. Mountain Squad wll be seen as already having been taken care of by existing special forces and mountain warfare units.

With the emphasis on cities, and a growing demand on the part of NGEarth common citizens to take charge of their own defense, especially seeing as teh UN was being led by the nose by SEELE, CDF and CDFC units will be quick to be mustered. This will lead to some problems, however, as the UN(and local powerbrokers) may see the combination of new city-states and large city-based urban defense forces as a temptation for armed fiefdoms and armed civil uprisings. The addition of giant Jet Alone 3/Trident/Atlas ‘super destroids’ to urban defense forces will only increase these concerns, although the giant mecha wil most likely be under Tactical Corps control.

Cold Weather Offense Squad is out of luck on NGEarth; the loss of Antarctica and shrinking subarctic zones means these guys are less in demand....

Sea Squad, on the other hand, will find themselves very MUCH in demand....rising oceans and initiatives to colonize/defend the seas(especially if any future Angel attacks originate in water) will have global navies re-organizing. The preponderance of drowned coastal uran areas will also have the Sea Squadworking to protect and patrol sunken cities from looters, illegal salvagers, and dissident elements hidding out in the remains of former metropoli. These drowned cities will also give the Sea Squad plenty of practice in something rather unique; underwater urban combat.

The GMP remains in Southern Cross administration; their lack of connections to NGEarth will serve to give them an aura of incorruptibility as they continue to hunt down NERV and SEELE networks...however, on NGEarth, they may be seen as the ‘otherworlld gestapo’, while on REarth, their capture and administration of NERV and SEELE facilities will be seen as an acquisition of too much power, adding to the already swelled egos of an already out-of-control organization.

NERV will be incorporated into this organization as an ‘army’ of its own, though it will be heavily under the thumb of a GMP/UEsG command. More ominously, however, will be the appearance of specialized security troops sporting gear patterned after GMP designs; not helping the public relations any.

I know. I was leery of that, so I've avoided hard stats...though I might do hard stats for a Super-Destroid created with 'cross-dimensional tech'....

Stan Bundy's 'LGSA' setting is very much in my mind, since he mentions in earlier drafts of the setting that the LGSA is thinking about hunting up an NGE universe...well...what if a Southern Cross-based(usually the unloved child of the Robotech triology) NGE universe found THEM?

Yep, I have taken some sidetrips down into more serious territory, but, yeah, I'll try to keep it lighthearted.... :D

Meanwhile...In a GMP-run NERV hospital...

"All the Captain did was pass by the door with his drink, and we saw a spike in her brain activity?"
"Well, it does suggest a treatment approach, but the problem is that we've calculated the dose that would be necessary to bring her out of the come."
"Well, what are you waiting for? Why haven't you administered it already?"
"Because my medical ethics forbid me from applying such a massive dose of a metabolic poison! We're used to dealing in CCs of drugs, and units of benign substances like blood and saline! If we were to infuse her with eighteen pints of alcohol, on the offhand chance it would jumpstart her nervous system, we'd also risk...no, it's absolute...we'd OBLITERATE what's left of her liver! We just can't take a chance like that with her internal organs in the shape they're in!"
"I see, doctor...I defer to your superior ethical judgement."

...so sadly, Misato would have to wait a little longer on her beer....

Poor Misato missing out on her beer! Hopefully she'll have it soon enough. Hmmm put Gendo and Edwards under the care of Doc Mengele.

naw, Misato will be fine. eventually the ASC will encounter the star trek universe, get synthehol, and be able to wake her without killing her liver. only then will Dr. Crusher (or McCoy, which ever time period you prefer) tell them they could have just used some device with a blinky light to wake her..
though this brings an idea to my mind about where the ASC flagship could go...i just need to decide if facing the borg or the dominion would be more entertaining

i just dislike the stuff B&B worked on. TNG and DS9 were some of the best stuff made, and the last season of enterprise actually wasn't too bad. it was everything esle (IE: B&B products) that stunk. though i discount TOS from that statement, it's just bad because of the time and standards of the period it was made. i mean, space hippies, really? :)

"We have to be prepared for the worst..."
"Yes, but isn't this plan a little ...radical?"
"Open heart surgery was once considered radical...so was brain surgery...and balloon angioplasty...gene therapy...."
"Okay...but cloning her? Is it even FEASIBLE?"
"Maybe...we have only the accounts of the Masters to go on...and what little Zor Prime is willing to tell us..."
"This whole recovered memories thing...I'd sooner believe in good old terrestrial voodoo..."
"Yet the Masters staked an entire campaign on recovered clonal memories....And got more than they bargained for."
"So...if she doesn't come out of a coma..we clone her? And hope that the clone has her...well. 'soul'?"
"Of course, using the process we're familiar with, rather than the NERV process, we'll have to clone at least three of her...better chance of one of them recovering her memories."
"Oh dear god, man! Have you considered the ethical consequences?"
"That's why we're doing the work here, away from the narrow-minded bigotry of Leonard's regime...Can't people let go of the 'cloning is alien and enemy' attitude?"
"No, I don't mean that! I mean, do you really want to run the risk of several clones acquiring the attitudes of this one?"
"I thought that was the idea. Keep her expertise and compassion fo the Children continuing!"
"We might as that, but as I understand it, don't the strongest mental traits survive in the memory RNA? For example, Zor's genuis, his aggression...his moodiness?"
"What are you getting at? Do you mean---?"
"Yes! Do you really want to risk unleasing three MORE alcoholic, bazooka-barfing, directionally challenged, vehicular homicide inclined, people on society!?"

....Deep in the limbo-realm of her coma, Misato had the vague sense that somewhere, somehow, she was being insulted....

True, the Enterprise would get sliced to pieces if they tried to take on the Robotech Masters...unless they shucked Starfleet ethics, and used their transporters to start transporting anti-matter canisters inside the Motherships...

trek shields and hulls can shrug off multi-megaton level hits (photon torpedoes*), but given the sheer size of the masters forces and the number of Kiloton per second and megaton per second anti-ship weapons those ships were packing, i'd have to agree.
(given how badly a bioroid transport managed to decimate a city using a gun no bigger than the anti-ship ones on the city ships, those are definately kiloton per second yeild energy weapons, while the main guns are megaton per second or more at least.

(*from various episodes, we find out that photon torps, even as far back as trek's 2160's, could leave craters several miles across, meaning at least one megaton if not more. an upper limit of a normal torp has been seen in a few Voy episodes to be a few hundred megatons, although that looked to be a specially modified one and a few dozen Mt is likely more common by that time.)

Plus StarFleet has NO idea of how to properly equip their ground forces....
They tend to have to improvize on the spot.
I remember a manga-ized serious of comics doing Star Trek...one in which a giant robot 'fighter' stands on top of the original Enterprise and jams a giant sword in through the top, stopping short of the helm console(thank god for structural integrity forcefields!)....
Now picture that with a few dozen Bioroids mopping the Enterprise(any model)...

Trek Maneuiverability and Shields...courtesy of the power available from the matter/anti-matter reaction...
Anti-Matter is likely more powerful than Protoculture, but more difficult to handle...

However, Anti-Matter doesn't grow on trees, nor does it excite as much paranoia from enigmatic alien beings as does Protoculture....Though that last might not be seen as a plus....

Though I'd love to see Doctor Phlox trying to cultivate Flower of Life in his lab...and an Invid Hive Guard trying to sneak aboard the Enterprise to steal it...

LOL Those are great! But I'm really looking forward to the last one with Batou and Seito! That is one of my favorite series! Of course I'm still waiting for the mini series based on "Mutineer's Moon" by David Weber!
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"

"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

"As you will it, your Grace."

REF Tech 1: "You finish running the diagnostics and maintenance on Black Widow Squadron's Alphas yet?"
Tech2: "Yeah....but I got some funny readings on the first comp-diag...had to re-do them."
Tech1: "Funny readings?"
Tech2: "Well, I was checking the onboard actuator systems, and I got this; lemme show you."
Tech1: "*We Want Natural Oil!*? Sounds like somebody's yanking your chain...Anything else show up?"
Tech2: "Nah...bit more extra memory in the backups being used, though."
Tech1: "Don't worry about it...pilots probably keeping their MPEG files there...close it up for the night and go take a break...you've worked overshift as it is."
Tech2: "Thanks, boss."

*THere're gone.*
#Lucky you! What were you thinking? They were starting to get suspicious!#
**I wouldn't worry...You notice there's not an e-brain among them?**
*Yeah, and none of the rest of the mechs have any real e-defenses! It's networked, but it's so -primitive-!*
#I'd still be careful...The pilot interfaces have a nueral link I've never seen before...they may not have e-brains, but they may still be able to link! We need to know more before we risk discovery!#
*awwww...I'm not worried*
**WE should still be careful...no telling what viruses might be floating around that we could catch if we're not careful! It's an entirely different system than what we're used to!**
#Right! Now, next on the agenda! MOving our new bodies!#
&Look! I'm bigger than the rest of you!&
*You're a 'Beta'...and you know what they say about Betas.*
