How much info do we get on specific places in NooYawk? Do we get any maps of the city? What about adventure hooks? Also, do we get a strong understanding what people salvage out of Madhaven? And why they go?

It's different, especially for the monsters. I think it captures the feeling of the setting well, though. The art for the White Knights really stands out in sharp, clear contrast to the gritty and gloomy art depicted elsewhere.

Cool.

Does that new artist that first appeared in Rifter #34 (IIRC his name is Nick Bradshaw) do some of the art.

IMO he is perfect for the setting.

oh boy oh boy 10-12 OCC/RCC's?

seems like just enough to keep me happy, while enough background/map/NPC stuff to keep the "OCC minimalists" smiling as well :)

His is the first name listed for the artists.

Burles does some great art for the ruins. Apollo really gives the White Knights life. Bradshaw does some killer mutants and monsters. In fact, he does all of them except Freddie Williams' Ruin Lizard and Toothback Wallcrawler. Brian Manning did a good job on the TW armors and gear. Russell did the ghosts and entities to good effect.

I can't express in words how much that makes me want the book now (especially with the unintentional "teasers" you did by mentioning names), so I will fall back on Emoticons:

You mean I have to wait till tomorrow at the absolute earliest, likely Monday or Wednesday? = :ugh:

My copy was waiting for me when I got home from work, and I'm about 10 pages into it now. I agree with Phalanx's comments, very good stuff, very gritty, scary feel to it all. I like. 8-)

I agree...this book, the illos look appropriately like the bad acid-trip that Madhaven's supposed to be...

And if the BIg Apple generated such serious bad vibes in its death threws, can you imagine what the bad karma zone around the LA Basin must be like?

I finally got mine today. um...wow. I can only say that I was more than a little excited to hold my first book. Taylor White and I will be at GenCon on Saturday to sign autographs and stuff and generally hang out. It should be a blast. SOme of the stuff that was cut out should also be apearing in a rifter here soon. (maybe 36 or 37). In other news, I'm up to page 102 on the Triax 2 Manuscript with no signs of stopping yet. It should be a pretty sizable book.

well i finally got my copy of madhaven today

atleast the occ and rcc have a point in this book and not a new version of some old occ retooled under a different name

The Mightly Lady , is a wonderful twist

overall i find the book a nicely done (maybe a new thread should be which weapons are better mutants or dino bone weapons   )

just got my copy yesterday and it is very very interesting.

The mutants made my skin crawl, especially the metal morph, that thing creeped me out. the Great lady is a incredible cultural/plot point excellent idea, its good to see more religion being put into rifts earth.

two things irked me though...

one on the mutant bone weapons, did the idea of arrows never occur to them? Or are the mutants really stuck on the idea of a rumble in the urban jungle?

the other thing was the lack of a market cost for the incredible mystic knight armor, look even if a peice of equipment is completely exclusive to one group/area, there should be a listed market cost, if only for comparison.

I love the new entities. These are the kinds of entities I've been waiting
for. The White Rose and their Knights is cool too. I always thought the
Mystic Knights would make great good guys, glad to see someone
take that opportuntiy. Mixed feelings about the Mutants.

I'm also curious to know if the effects of Madhaven are unique to it.
Wouldn't someone of the other major cities have a similar fate? Then again,
Madhaven and Chi-Town are among the few cities not to have
some super bad guy hanging around.

All in all, a great book. Looking forward to having the authors sign their
names to it. :ok:

The best thing about madhaven for me is that, unlike every other place in Rifts, Madhaven is the real manhatten. Chi Town isnt really, chicago. But with madhaven, i can read the book in the exact place its describing. Its surreal. I look around and picture what it would look like how crazy it would be. Picturing the buildings torn and crumbling. Imagining it is scary, especially if your go to one of the uncrowded streets at night when no one is there. Its freaky. That adds so much to the ambience of the book for me.

Exactly! When I get mine I can hardly wait to make the comparissons. :D

LOL. Yeah rat bastard. In the history of Madhaven it details what happened. Look for "The Collapse"

Kevin did revise a bit of the book and added ALOT of info on the mutants. He created a bunch of the new races since originally we only had one. Some material that we thought was critical was cut out in the process, but as I said earlier it should be finding its way into a Rifter article as official material (much like the holy house article for Arzno in Rifter #34) sometime soon.

Mahaven has been above water since the original Rifts Main Book, and even then they tell you why.

In Madhaven look under the section called "The Collapse."

I was wondering why madhaven was so close to philly.

so far its been a great read, is anyone going to have a stickied topic on madhaven like we did for that over hyped rifter compilation WB 28?

A hard-hitting, mystical Hospitlar Knight. Just what Rifts has needed. Move over, Cyber-Knights, your competition has arrived.

Fun fact, in my game, another new player has made a Keeper of the Garden and is integrating himself into the party quite well. The teamup between him and the two Cyber-Knights is a nasty, nasty combo for supernatural enemies to deal with.

Keeper is rad. It's unfortunate you didn't get to see the Redeamer (though it will probably make it in the rifter). It was an awesome OCC and my personal favorites of most things in there.

Because the yankees won the world series that year and got a "get out of being under the ocean" free card. That and because ghosts can't swim.

Because the yankees won the world series that year and got a "get out of being under the ocean" free card. That and because ghosts can't swim.

I think you mean the Mets, you know, the real NY team :D

Notice how Shea Stadium didn't survive the Great Cataclysm? Yankee Stadium did (but which Yankee Stadium?).

Ultimate proof that fate, God and Rifts favors the Yankees, over the Mets.

Thats cuz all the survivors wanted to pick at the remnants as soueneirs. They left Yankee stadium cuz there was nothing there they wanted. :P

Nah, It's because God made sure he washed Shea Stadium off the face of the Earth.

What little pieces that were left have been chucked into the East River by Haven Mutants... even they know how anything Mets related brings you bad luck... save for odd flukes once every 20 years.

:P
