#21 - "Gulag"

Hook: With D'mel dead and his fleet destroyed, the Argo limps toward a resource rich planet called Leptopoda to resuppy and repair. Ironically, the cloaked ship carrying the half-Invid PC stops at the same planet, which happens to be a prison colony, to resupply and transfer the PC to another ship to take her to D'sler.

Line: The PCs, Sera and Lancer are dispatched on a recon mission when they discover stowaways aboard their shuttle. Several of the Glorie infiltrators escaped after the brig took a hit during the last battle. They intend to hijack the shuttle and use it and the hostages to escape the Argo.

Sinker: During the struggle with the infiltrators, the controls of the shuttle are damaged, and it crashes. The party is captured by Biodraedi and brought to the prison facility. There they encounter various alien and Tirolian prisoners, including Melda's father, a former CoZ Admiral, all considered enemies of the Children of Zor. The prison is manned by Biodraedi and a small staff of Tirolians. Just as the warden sees Sera and begins to suspect that the kidnapped PC is NOT the Invid Princess, Melda and her allies stage a riot at the prison, seizing it. In the confusion, the Cloaked ship escapes with the half-Invid PC.

#22 - "The Goal is in Sight"

Hook: Despite Erdrich's worsening condition, She and the Argo's crew engage in talks with a group of Tirolians, led by Melda's father. While they still are far apart on many issues, there is some hope. The Tirolians look at Sera, and the child she had with Lancer (born during the battle in the nebula), with a religious awe. Meanwhile, despite knowing that the PC is not Sera, Dessler takes advantage of her half-Invid nature in an attempt to force a concession from the Regess.

Line: The crew learn that D'sler has built a large colony in the same system as the Invid's new homeworld (In addition to the city, he has his elite guard fleet, a Robotech Factory and a massive Zentraedi Fortress). With repairs and resupplying complete, it is decided that the Argo will proceed on it's mission. Melda's father and the other Tirolians will take their ship and seek out other disaffected CoZ members to form a coalition against D'sler. Melda will remain aboard the Argo as a liaison.

Sinker: As the Argo folds into the system, the ship is fired upon by an extremely powerful Fold Cannon.

#23 - "The War of Ancient Powers"

Hook: After being almost destroyed by D'sler’s massive fold cannon, (He destroyed the Gas Giant they were next to) Erdrich orders the Argo to launch an offensive at the CoZ capital. The Argo charges the planet, and all pilots launch to engage his elite guard.

Line: As the Argo collides with D'sler's palace, D'sler escapes to his space fortress, The "Blade of Ages" in a ship with the half-Invid PC on board. Sera senses her presence, and she, the PCs and Lancer are sent to try and mount a rescue. D'sler then sets the Robotech Factory on a collision course with the capital in an attempt to vanquish the Argo. While the crew prepares to blast it with the Fold Cannon, the PCs are intercepted by Guard mecha.

Sinker: As Sera, Lancer and the PCs try to fight their way through, they are joined by mecha from the Argo and by Invid mecha who draw the CoZ forces away allowing them to enter the Fortress.

That being said, given it's size and the fact they call it a Battleship, you'd think it would pack more ship killing firepower.

consider it's built with 1st war technology.. the Tokugawa was, going by time cues and HG's canon, designed alongside the ARMD platforms and the SDF-1's reconstruction. it was basically a massive ARMD with more mobility.

by the time the first ones were completed after the 1st war, they'd grafted zent based sublight and fold drives onto it, but the tech was still 1st generation advanced tech.

the refit we see in prelude is done in 2040.. well over two decades after first launch.

so effectively, it's like looking at the capabilities of the Iowa class battleships today.. they were impressive when first built, and modernization has kept them somewhat useable in niche roles, but their still way outclassed in the modern naval battlefield.

edit: also, according to robotech.com's infopedia entry.. https://web.archive.org/web/20080212185 ... .php?id=52

for the pre-refit version..
ARMAMENT
2 x twin-barreled beam cannon on both sides of the command tower.
1 x quadruple-barreled beam cannon forward of the command tower.
12 x single barrel medium beam cannon turret.
15 x heavy nuclear missile launch tubes with 150 rockets.
6 x 15-silo defensive missile launcher
12 x single barrel point defense cannon
~1000 veritechs and non-transformable aerospace fighters
Numerous auxiliary craft and shuttles.

looks like it relies heavily on fighters and reflex warhead tipped missiles for it's offensive punch.. (rather like the tristar we have stats for in masters saga sourcebook.. and rather like an ARMD)

the refit version probably retains the missiles and fighters, and just rebuilt the other weapons mix to use up to date stuff.

#24 - "The Faraway Promise"

Hook: With D'sler apparently dead and the CoZ ceasing their hostilities, the Argo at last lands on the Invid homeworld. A delegation, including Lancer, Sera, the PCs and the command crew travel to see the Regess in her hive. The Regess is in doubt about providing the assistance she promised upon seeing that the humans using an ancient weapon of mass destruction.

Line: It's largely up to the PC's, with help from Lancer, Sera and the others, to convince her humanity is worth saving. After coming to a decision, The Regess asks that Sera, the half-Invid PC and the PC who lost a loved one on the Yukikaze stay with her in the hive while the rest of the party returns to the Argo.

Sinker: The Regess teaches Sera and the half-Invid PC the secrets of the Flower of Life and how to make Protoculture (I suggest glossing over this part as Tommy probably will have a different take from the rest of us). She also gives the other PC a holo-pendant with a message from their sibling/loved one. She reveals that a CoZ Thurval Salan had crashed here, the sibling/loved one was the only survivor, but was too badly injured to survive until the Argo arrived.

OVA – “Ark of the Stars

Hook: During its long return voyage home from the Invid homeworld, with her Fold Cannon converted into a Protoculture Matrix, the Argo is confronted by a hostile alien fleet just outside the Large Magellanic Cloud that claims to be Drak’lith. Their leader, Gora, orders the immediate surrender of the UEEF vessel. Naturally, with Lancer in command, the Crew of the Argo refuses.

Line: After a running gun battle, Argo folds to safety, but finds itself lost within a strange void realm. With the Argo's mainframe under outside control, they travel to a strange multi-ringed planet. The PCs are sent down to the surface to investigate a Tiriolian distress signal. They land and find themselves in a rain forest that some of the PCs recognize as the Amazon and the signal leads them to the SDF-1. Once inside, entering through a human sized airlock, they find themselves in the lobby of a hotel (Four floors, but the indicator on the non-functioning elevator goes to eleven). Once in, the door out disappears and they find the Tiroilians (survivors of the battle of the Tarantula Nebula and a CoZ patrol).

Sinker: The rain forest, SDF-1 and the hotel interior are illusions. The clue to defeating the illusion comes from one of the PCs finding a book in their suite (The Story of My Life by Helen Keller). The planet is actually a ship belonging to a race which may have seeded life in the Large Magellanic Cloud and the Milky Way Galaxy. It is currently being used as an ark by the last survivors of the telepathic race that the Argo encountered earlier. The Drak’lith, an ancient "Boggyman" race mentioned in another thread, is seeking this ship for it's technology. As the ark revives, the CoZ and the Argo move to battle the Drak’lith.

Note: Based on the thread, the Drak'lith are somewhere between B5's Shadows and the Old Ones. Think organic ships with the regenerative ability of Gura Invid. Gora's flagship uses a Fold Projection Device to fire powerful Plasma Blasts from beyond firing range of the good guys. Argo's crew, having encountered the device before, will be able to predict the blasts in time for Argo and the CoZ ships to avoid them.

Drak'lith Forces: Gora's Flagship, Several Cruisers, number of Destroyers, a Carrier and it's mecha.

Good Guy Forces: Argo, two Inspection Army Gunboats, a damaged and depleted Quiltra Queleual, six Thurval Salan and their combined mecha forces.

#25 (The Real One) - "Let This Be Our Final Battlefield"

Hook: Arriving at the Fold Gate, the Argo comes under attack by several ships under D'sler loyalists. They are driven toward the gate. Suddenly, the cloaked ship announces it's presence by firing on the loyalist ships.

Line: Entering the gate, the Argo is harpooned by a huge warship and swarms of Biodreidi board the Argo. D'sler survived and is intent on taking the ship.

Sinker: Fire fights taking place inside and outside the ship, everyone fighting for their lives. The PC's unleash a virus that takes out the Biodreidi. With conditions in Fold Space rendering energy weapons and missiles useless, it's up to the 40cm canons to settle the matter.

#26 - "Memories of the Blue Planet"

Hook: The Argo is on the last legs of their journey through outer space. They've Folded into Mars orbit and are heading toward Earth.

Line: The crew is exhausted, they've suffered many casualties over their year long journey. The ship, by this point is pretty badly beat up, it's being held together by a mish-mash of human, Tirolian and Invid repairs and modifications. Their mecha forces are also badly depleted.

Sinker: In sight of Earth, as the Captain finally succumbs to her illness, the Awareness makes another attempt to destroy the Argo. It launches an attack using every remaining Shadow Drone.

"How's our spit holding?"
"....dry mouths all around."
"This could be close, then."
