Poisons & Potions

Unread post by drewkitty ~..~ »

I was posing elsewhere and was inspired to write the following up.

This topic is for comments and for anyone else to post the potions and poisons they've made for the games.

Failure Essence

This poison is unlike any other. It is a magical potion that is a gathering of the idea of failure. It will cause the victim to fail at every important task that they have a direct hand in. Because this is a metaphysical it can only be countered by to things, the deific sponsored remove curse or the application of a good luck potion.
-If used as weapon fouling, this causes failure for 1d4 days.
-If a full potion vile is drank, the effects last 4d4 months.
Cost: 12,000 gp

obvious questions answers:
-If the char does not have a direct hand in something then they can get around the effects by having someone else do the important stuff.
-Does not effect not important things like bathing and dressing ones' self. But will effect things like waking up on time for one's shift. (ether early or late).
-can ff from hp be used to counter this? no ff is a copywrited idea of the wizarding world copywrite.
May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.

Wanna really stick it to your victims?
In 'to strike' rolls, make your victims' critical 'to strike' rolls do damage---to themselves....Double-ended spectrum of critical failure.

But more technically, the failure factor needs a little more refining, with regards to skill rolls and the like.
And also, how vile-tasting is it? Could it be masked by something? Would alcohol denature it?

To be turned over with the Flick of a Finger,
And the Turning of a Page"

Phantom Blade of Dreams
This magical blade made in the deep southern islands, it is the favorite of slavers and kidnappers and drug den proprietors. When the phantom blade passes through flesh and blood beings, it doses them with a disabling drug. The most common drug that is delivers into the target is Strelus. Which is commonly known as Dreamland or Zombie. While these blades are solid in every way, once they encounter the flesh and blood of a living being they become intangible while passing through. Commonly these blades will activate three times a day. However, if they are wielded by a magic user, the can recharge the blade with 30 PPE for another 3 charges.

Each dose acts just like the normal drug because that is what it is. As such all saving throws will be vs. non-lethal toxins or vs drugs. Whichever is more appropriate for the type of drugs the blade delivers.
The cost of these blades are dependent on the drug that particular blade delivers.
Strelus: 80,000 gp.....(PF: Western Empire page 169)

Footnote: posted here because it seamed the best match for the type of magic item it is.

This poison is unlike any other. It is a magical potion that is a gathering of the idea of failure. It will cause the victim to fail at every important task that they have a direct hand in. The character will have to roll a 02% to successfully complete a skill in a critical time, or will have a -10 to combat rolls. Because its metaphysical nature, it can only be countered by deific sponsored remove curse (ie: a priest's) or the application of a good luck potion.
