Resurrection 3/6 limits and cumulation

Unread post by Axelmania »

Say I'm a wizard with the resurrection spell and my butler dies.

I cast the spell and fail, and then succeed on the second try.

Then he dies again.

I cast the spell and fail.

I cast the spell and fail again.

Q: can I cast the spell a third time because this 'corpse' has only had it used it on it twice?

Or would I count the first time from when he died first and that's 3 failures and no more will work and I need to get someone else to try?

The counter is re-set after he is made alive again.

I agree with Drew on this. The counter is reset after each successful resurrection.

That's the convenient life-friendly approach, I guess I was wondering if we had any in-book clarification or example.

So would this mean for example:

*I fail to resurrect my butler 3 times
*Isis comes along and deific-resurrects him
*I smother my butler to death because I hate Isis
*The counter is still reset to 3 by her success so I can try 3 times?

I don't know of an example, no.
