The link above contains our general guidelines on character submission- when you do decide which game you'll want to play in, you will need to go there and read up to ensure your character gets approved as quickly as possible. It's a treasure trove of information and well worth some time to go over.

As far as general guidelines for new members, all you really need are:

1) Yahoo Instant Messenger
2) A willingness to make your posts read well- proofreading, edits, the whole nine yards
3) An ability to post a minimum of once per week

No previous experience with PBP (or RPGs in general for that matter) is required.

Interesting website. Do you except new players with limited experience in play by post games?

Explorers Unlimited accepts players of all XP levels. :D
We have veteran gamers on-site who've been RPG dorks since the birth of RPGs in the 70's.
We also have a number of young folks (often siblings, with parents playing as well!) who are new to roleplaying games outside of computer games.

Make sure to read the House Rules forum and especially the newbies thread in that same forum, you'll find the answers to 90% of all your questions in that thread.

Just following up to TGM:

He is certainly correct, I happen to be one of those who had literally NO exp with Palladium based rules when I came to EU (8 months ago). Now I'm in two games (Robotech) and may eventually GM my own game, pending my comfort level hehe. But yes, everyone at EU is amazing and always willing to help, even myself.

Feel free to hit up any of us with questions, more players and new adventures the better!

LOOKING FOR A DEAD REIGN GAME MASTER!

We already have SIX PLAYERS lined-up and beginning to submit their character sheets.
We already have a GENERAL FRAMEWORK set-up for the game.
We also have a large community of dedicated Palladium players that have been on-site for over three years.

Check out the details here.

Try elric.

He hangs out on the 'backup' Palladium chat server.

He's a little rough (I sense the teenager or recently post-teen in him) and his grammer needs a little work to be up to your exacting standards, but he's got some Play-By-Post experience.

I'm betting your six players are all GMs for something else, eh? Or at least have a plateful of NPC roles, and PCs.

Best of luck.

Actually, position has since been filled...by a really talented writer! I'm shocked actually, the quality of the game is going to be far higher than I at first expected...and we're up a few more players as well. :D

I just wanted to say that I've been given the honor (or is that horror) of being the one in charge of character submissions unti TGM's problems with school are taken care of...which means he finishes he main assignments and gets back to EU. No this does not mean that dragons and munchkins can join. As one of the more prolific players, I have a resume of characters and I have played from super powerful to "WFT" weak. My current list of characters keeps me busy, but I also GM two games, one of Phase world and the other in MercTown (mostly as a temp GM, I currently have a counter terrorism group under my wing).

We are still looking for players in many groups, and I look forward to getting any and all players started. I also know that one group in Phase World has just started and is still looking for dedicated players.

Signed
EJ

Garaa of the West (Mutant Body Fixer for Dirty Rotten Scoundrals)
Asuka Manjoyme (Immortal MAge (PU2) for Templars)
Samantha Bunny (Pleasure Bunny (ATB) sheriff for Crusaders of MercTown)
Rothgar "Tank" Ragnok (Ogre Dragon Juicer Scout for Spook Squad)
Sgt. Ducky (Psi-nullifier Psi-net agent for the 110th CS group)
Dante Maximo (Mutant Human Vagabond for the PW Rogues)
Duo Freehart (Human Operator/Robot Pilot for the new PW Group, name pending)
Mason Diaz (Mutant Dog for HU Century Station)
Kyle Nicholson (Super Soldier (Endo-skelital replacement) for Chaos Earth)
Dark Angel (GM for Society of the Distinguished)
Drifter (GM For MT)

Former accounts
Alexander Bester (Human Enthraller...MIA from the Spook Squad)
Victoria (Free Quebec Military specialist/leader of the Extrodinary Combat Solutions...group no longer in game)
Allen Maximofcus (Iborian Healer for PW Adventurers...NPC tool for PW GMs until an opening shows up in the adventurers)
Rex McScotty (Mutant Human Operator for Starswords...KIA)
Methos Darkblade (Mutant Wandering Free agent (Only had one minor ability)...game no longer in effect)
Lee Zuko (Manaar Gun Master...MIA from the Japan Group)
Methos Creedlith (Human Wizard...left PF group)
and I know I'm missing maybe 2-3 more characters I rolled up and posted. Needless to say, I don't have them available.

You sign up by making an account and getting ahold of either the DM of the world you're playing in or by getting ahold of The Game Master or Myself (Drifter) if you want to play in the Rifts Earth game. There's even a list of rules that you are required to use when making a character. If you have problems, look for me on YIM at ejpennine or anyone here who's shown that they know what they're doing (The Game Master is frequently on YIM, and PerroMalo is the DM of Phase World). And while we've had some problems in the past, I can assure you, the number of players has grown dramatically through the past year. We may have lost some to infighting, banning, ad even Real Life, but we have gained much more in quality people willing to play.

Nope, Sergei, you're right. Move along, nothing to see here...

(TGM doesn't tend to play well with others when 1) they're negative Nancys 2) can't spare the effort to read the blaringly obvious rules posted beneath their noses. My fellow GMs are far more tolerant and kind than I am in most situations.)

EU's phase world game is still aggressively recruiting! Our newest group, the Star Runners, has three openings for new PCs, and I'd like to get those filled ASAP.
Click the spiffy new banner in my sig for the introduction-to-new-players essay.

Allow me to fill in the gaps:

10 players (although there might be one flake...). No new openings, but there is a wait list. Feel free to contact me if interested. The game is relatively slow, at one GM post per week. There is one GM and one Moderator who helps with GM posting as well.

PFRPG: Edge of Confrontation is always accepting new players. My soft limit is ten players. I say soft because there is always someone coming or going that it never really seems to keep one solid number (unless I get a mass of dropouts then it's down to a solid 5-6).

It's a Palladium Fantasy game with a twist. You'll have to read the stories to get the twist, but the Prologue sets up things nicely.

Also, I tend to run autonomously from the rest of the Site (which is why he has me as Unknown). It's the 'do my own thing' attitude I guess.

If you're looking for a PFRPG game and don't mind PBP, swing on over. You can also PM me here or on the Otherworlds boards.

-Lonnie

Oh, and I'm much nicer (and cooler) than that The Game Master guy. :D

Like many gamers, I put up with certain douchebags because they give good roleplay. Lonnie would be one of those, I'd recommend his game for its creativity if nothing else. If you like fantasy as much as I hate the crap, Lonnie's game may just be for you.

Guten tag! If you have been waiting patiently (or not so patiently) to join a Europe-based Rifts PbP game, you're in luck!

Explorers Unlimited has just found a GM to run a Eurasian Invasion game, based out of the NGR. Come join the war against Gargoyles, Brodkil, Mindwerks, Gene-Splicers and the myriad of Supernatural menaces that plague the lands as part of a covert special operations unit!

OCCs/RCCs from England, NGR/Triax, Mindwerks, Underseas, Russia 1&2 and various "legendary" beings from Rifts Conversion Book that have mythological roots in Europe are wanted! Looking for 6-8 interested players to start.

Come visit Explorers Unlimited today, the best place for Rifts on the net!

I have been looking at your site and am thinking of joining, but have a couple of questions. Where exactly is this Merc Town located? Also, I read that it is strictly a North America rifts setting. If I made a character with a Japan power armor for example, if I came up with a good story about how it got to North America would that be allowed? Lastly, would you allow character backgrounds created with the Central Casting Hero's for Tomorrow book?

There are three campaign settings for Rifts on EU.

1) North America: This campaign setting is the largest by a huge factor and centers around MercTown, a canonical city built on the ruins of Paducah, Kentucky which is dedicated to the support of Mercenaries and their trade. There are currently eleven different groups to join, all groups play together after a fashion, and there are well over one-hundred players involved as well as a dozen or so GMs and about as many Moderators and NPCs.

2) Eurasia: This campaign is brand new and still forming but will center around a very unconventional NGR special operations team and their adventures.

3) Japan: I'm not entirely certain what is the focus of this group of misfit adventurers, but they seem to be having a good time.

Each campaign setting is STAND ALONE. Ergo, if you have a character in Japan you cannot bring that character to the North America setting.

As to any other questions you might have, I'd recommend you follow these links:

Interested in Eurasia? Read below!

EUROPE is in a state of total war. The New German Republic (NGR) is locked in battle with the Gargoyle Empire to the South and West. The Brodkil are closing the gap on the Eastern Front. This is humanity's darkest hour. Humans are on the brink of extinction if they can't hold their ground. Will Europe go silently into the night? NO! Now is the time for heroes! Now is the time for victory! CRY HAVOC AND LET SLIP THE DOGS OF WAR! SEE YOUR RECRUITER AND JOIN THE NGR TODAY.

THE CORE EURASIA EXPERIENCE
You will start as combat veterans (lvl 3 characters), newly recuited to the NGR Special Operations Branch. SpecOps is considered unconventional warfare. The new SpecOps commander, Brigadier General Beatrix Jaeger, has caused quite a stir among the top brass. She is the first NGR officer to seriously suggest allowing those traditionally outlawed by the NGR to join a covert team forming to carry out special missions in and outside the NGR. How is this possible when NGR has shown a history of prejudice towards D-Bees almost comparable to the Coalition? Simple, they won't be able to replace their troops fast enough to keep up the momentum in the current major offensive. In order to keep pushing the enemy back, the NGR has begrudgingly admitted they may need to recruit D-Bees from the long-standing Border Towns.

Therefore, NGR in this special case, will turn a blind eye to D-Bees, magic, psionics and other non-traditional natures joining humans in order to fight the enemy in a new and unique way. If you fail, the program will be permanently scrapped -- all eyes are on you, and all odds against you. Expect EXTREME prejudice! The NGR Regular Forces will remain the face of the Government; you will be the poisoned knife in its hidden hand, ready to slip by unnoticed into the enemy's gut...

How will it work?
You will be tasked with a variety of SpecOps-style missions (rescue POWs, assassinate high-value targets, scout the unknown, etc). Anyone in the military can tell you that you MUST BE FLEXIBLE. Missions change on the fly!

You will receive these benefits as an NGR SpecOps soldier:
1) Unit barracks (sleep and stow all gear)
2) Unit vehicle garage
3) Salary commensurate with your rank (not the same as PC lvl)
4) Medical care fund while in adequately equipped NGR garrisons
5) Equipment fund with 1/2 cost repair to TRIAX armor and vehicles while in NGR garrisoned cities (Not TRIAX? Full cost)
6) Ammo requisition fund
7) Mission funds requisition as per mission availability (SpecOps in RL spread $ around, so will you)
8.) Bonus pay or items for OPTIONAL objectives/targets of opportunity such as: destroying enemy strongholds, capturing intelligence items (maps, data disks, etc.) or high-value prisoners, assassinating high-value targets, capturing experimental equipment, etc. IF you bring back proof!

You will be expected to:
1) Uphold the NGR's honor on the field of battle (even when faced with prejudice by your own allies)
2) Pay for any NGR-supplied equipment you lose/break
3) Repossess weapons, ammo, vehicles and equipment as necessary in order to complete the mission.
4) Turn over any non-standard (i.e. experimental) enemy equipment to NGR Research & Development for study
5) Spend NGR-requisitioned funds responsibly (paying an ally/private militia to cause a distraction for you to sneak into a Gargoyle Roost is GREAT. Spending those funds on strippers and drugs is COURT MARTIAL )
6) Avoid causing problems for innocents/civilians where possible. When not possible, you WILL make reparations in NGR's name. See above.
7) Research, capture, photograph, video, document etc. any and all worthy specimens/events that have high value to the military and/or commercial interests.

Join the NGR today! The only good Gargoyle is the one impaled at the end of your Vibro-Sword!

Well, the Eurasia campaign sounds fun, but I was thinking of playing an NGR intelligence commando (sniper). He was captured by Brodkil and traded to Mindwerks for experimentation. There he was converted into an experimental full conversion 'borg and released. He wants nothing more than to kill Brodkil for what they did to him.

Anyway, after reading your catchall thread on EU, it sounds like you are looking for exclusively non-human characters, so I guess an intelligence commando would not work. I don't really see anything else in the NGR book that looks too interesting (not into gypsies). Guess I should just make a headhunter for Merc Town. Besides, there isn't a single damn good sniper rifle in the book. I thought I remembered NGR having better weapons than what I saw skimming it last night.

I will take a look at how I worded it again, but no, I am not looking for exclusively non-human characters. I just wanted people to know that they can use them since the books say NGR does not accept D-bees. It really comes down to accessibility. I didn't want to severely limit the classes someone could choose from. I have so far: a Dabuggh from WB3 England, a Red-Type Full-Conversion Combat Borg from WB5 NGR/Triax, and have players making a Robot Pilot from WB5 NGR/Triax and a Changeling Temporal Wizard from Conversion Book 1/England WB3. I may have a Field Mechanic coming onboard too. So as you can see, a decent mix so far, and we can take plenty more.

Intelligence Commando would be fine, as you can see, and would perfectly fit into a SpecOps environment. Intelligence is their bread and butter. And I myself was a Marine Corps vet for 4 years and have had SOME interaction with Intel and SpecOps enough to know generally how they operate. HumInt, SigInt, Imagery Analysis, you name it. We already have a combat borg, so the Intel Commando would be of infinitely more use as you see. As for weapons, my imagination and play is not limited to what you see in the books. While you may start with traditional gear, I have stated that the team will be assigned experimental equipment to field test, etc. There are MANY opportunities to improve your arsenal :)

Hit me up anytime on Yahoo Instant messenger, name is caradoc_1979. I am GM Jaeger on the site.

Sorry, the DNS transfer hasn't gone through. It is still pointing to the old server, and not the new one. I think everyone went home early and left their work at work :(

sorry...

Come one, Come All! The CS wants you!

Are you a human who wants to save humanity?
Tired of the easy life in the Burbs? Looking for some excitement?
Tired of D-Bee’s and Mages messing up your day?

Then join the Coalition States of America in their fight for humanity.

The CS 110th SOG (Special Operations Group), based in MercTown, is under new management and is currently hiring.

The following positions are needed/available:

Operators

All CS OCC’s will be considered.

D-Bee’s and Magic Users need not apply!

Benefits of enlistment include:
• better than average pay

• travel to strange and exciting parts of North America you have only read about (if you can read, that is)

Contact GM Reaver via YIM or PM for OCC approval.

Figured that I should get my butt onto these boards, rather than relying on everyone else. ;)

This game is still accepting players. We are currently at 3 open slots again, but we are also keeping a waiting list for, if we happen to get enough interest.

We are currently running with 3 GMs, which will allow us to play with 18 players in total. If things go well, and we continue to get interest, we may even expand this further.

This is the biggest game of Heroes Unlimited that EU has ever seen, and we are excited to see where the game goes.

If you have any questions, you can get ahold of Al, or myself through YIM @ akg1206

Hope to hear from you.

If you haven't checked this out, then what are you waiting for. This is an excellent PbP for Rifts and other Palladium games. Hopefully we will be able to get another Dead Reign game before too long. Tons of fun so come and check it out. I play as Domingo, a mind controlling, TK wielding Mind melter. Just remember to read over the rules and must reads before you start.

As soon as I manage to find a quality GM from the crowd of good players on-site to replace me as GM of Baker's Roughnecks you will have your wish. I've already begun setting up the forum architecture and such.

Are you a good guy in search of a home full of like-minded individuals?
Do you operate strictly within the boundaries of the law?
Do you enjoy chasing down smugglers and relieving them of their ill-gotten goods?
Do you think Han Solo was a terrible role model who belonged in some dark, forgotten galactic prison?

Then are we ever NOT the group for you!

The Galactic Rogues are searching for a few good men and women to join them on their adventures in the Three Galaxies. We currently have three openings.

Priority will be given to those individuals who combine a healthy attitude about the grey areas of the law with a knowledge of the inner workings of machines, the body, or magic. (We're looking for a Mage/Mystic, a Technician/Operator of some sort and doctor.)

Requirements:
-Ability to integrate into an established group that are friendly and whose first priority, always, is having fun
-Time enough to maintain our Once Per Week MINIMUM posting requirements
-A solid grasp of the English language

Our forum is available here

My contact information is in the "Gaming With Orchestral Darkness" thread. Feel free to contact me by PM or IM if you have any questions, or want to start adventuring with us.

Whew! This semester is damn near complete! As such, I'll soon be spending a bit of time in this forum trolling for new players and updating the status of the THREE gaming sites in the Explorers Unlimited continuum.

Hit me up with a PM or IM if you have questions before my December assault on the Palladium GLFOG Forum!

A new group has arrived in MercTown. Comitatus Security Group has decided to make another team in their roster and are looking for highly qualified individuals who are willing to work as security for individuals, companies, and/or nations. Provide excellent pay and have an excellent reputation. We have only lost 1 client and we aim to keep it that way.

Talk to Drifter (That's me folks) and/or The Game Master (That's the big boss) for information and/or character ideas and submissions.

Could you post a list of the games on DD with their current openings? I know some EU members aren't completely sure what's running over there.
