Triad Assassin Training questions

Unread post by Nightmask »

Curious as to what kind of impact weapon customization would have with regards to the damage this combat training has since it has some specific damages given for things like aimed and burt shots. Particularly given what greater features of customizing are possible if the skill is used in a setting like Heroes Unlimited around characters like Hardware: Weapons experts.

Plus how much play might one have with the MA, with regards to expanding it to other pistol-sized weapons? Like 'HtH: Energy Pistol', as there are energy pistols that would fit the standards of weight and size and shots for the 9mm weapon this specialized weapon skill is built around. Not suggesting expanding into all modern weapons just widen it a bit.
Fair warning: I consider being called a munchkin a highly offensive slur and do report people when they err in doing so.

It's 'canon', not 'cannon'. A cannon is a big gun like on pirate ships, canon is what you mean when referring to something as being contained within one of the books such as how many dice to roll for a stat.

It dosn't matter how closely they match the origional in regards to size and weight: the different kicks and recoils would htrow it off. you'd have to invent a new WP kata entirely.

Anyway, theroetically, Traid assassin weapons can be gimmik'ed out with anyone else's.

May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.
Each question should be give the canon answer 1st, then you can proclaim your house rules.

Gotta agree with Nekira and drew here. The basis behind the form itself is one of highly specialized training around a very specific weapon. Any kind of deviations from that focus throws the form off. As for gimmicking a weapon for this form, I'd allow just about anything. The only weapon mod I don't see allowing is rechambering it for a higher caliber. Obviously, doing that makes the weapon invalid for the form because it would no longer be a 9mm. The best way I've seen to really take advantage of the Triad Assassin form is to dig into The Compendium of Contemporary Weapons and peruse the specialized ammo section. Triad Assassins carrying around pistols loaded with Glaser ammo, Spartans, AET's and other forms of nastiness can make for a scary thing indeed. The specialty ammo listed with the Weapons Expert in HU can be pretty devastating as well. (9mm Depleted Uranium shells= big time ouchies)

Hmmm, an interesting suggestion, develop a weapon kata to expand from just 9mm guns to other types of guns so the 'martial art' can be used with greater range of usefulness.

Seems like you'd have to add to the available attacks per melee using it in other settings like Heroes Unlimited since you've 2 attacks less than someone with standard HtH and guns training. Not particularly believable for the character with a skill that's focused on using 9mm hand guns with proficiency beyond others.
