Also, the Red-Throated Loon has an elaborate breeding ritual, which mainly consists of a pair of birds being side by side and racing across the surface of the water. Downy chicks have a tendancy to climb onto their parents back, although, this only happens when the chicks are young.
The Red-Throated Loon lives in open areas withing Boreal forests, Muskeg, and Tundra; which is located in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. They sometimes also live in areas that are almost devoid of Vegitation. They tend to Winter on the Great Lakes, along with both Coasts Southwards to Florida, on the East Coast, and Northern Mexico, on the West Coast.
The Red-Throated Loon nests in Scrape with mud and vegitation during the incubation of the Eggs. The nests are located at the waters edge in Coastal and Lake Bays, along with shallow Ponds, and often at high altitudes. They lay 2 Eggs between the months of April and July.

Bird (Loon): Yellow-Billed Loon
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: Being the largest species of Loon, the Yellow-Billed Loon has the most restricted range and smallest Global population. About three quarters (3/4) of the estimated 16,000 Birds live in North America. It makes themost of its short Nesting season, arriving at its breeding grounds already paired and mating immediately, although extensive ice formations can prevent it from breeding some years. The Yellow-Billed Loons have more rugged proportions then other species of Loons, such as their feet, for example, extend farther away from their bodies then those of other species of Loon.
The Yellow-Billed Loon breeding range is from the extreme Northern edge of Alaska to the Eastern portion of the NorthWest Territories and Nunavut. It also breeds i the Northern portion of Siberia. It Winter along the Pacific Coast of Alaska and British Columbia, and has also been sighted in a number of US States.

Author's Notes:
Grebes:
Grebes area species of Bird that resemble Loons and share many of the same aquatic habits with them. They are unrelated in both their anatomical and molecular features, in effect, placing them in a different order: the Podicpediformes. The bodies of Grebes are streamlined, which offers little resistance when they'r diving or swimming. While underwater, their primary means of propulsion is the sideways motion of their lobed toes. Their legs areplaced far back on their bodies, which helps the Bird when they are swimming above or below the surface of the water.
Grebes tend to have short tails, while letting their legs and toes trail behind them, which in turn effectivly allowing them to act as rudders when in flight. Also, due to the position of their legs makes it impossible to stand upright for long periods of time or to walk on land.

As promised, here's some more AtB2 Mutants and info:

Bird (Grebes): Clark's Grebe
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Clark's and Western Grebes are closely related and are very difficult to distinguish from one another. They rarely fly, except when migrating at night. Also, both species seldom come to land, where their movements are awkward, which is due tothe fact that their legs and toes are located so far back on their bodies. Although, they have been reported to run upright at a rapid pace. Their flightmuscles tend to suffer from wastage after their arrival on the breeding grounds, which also tends to inhibit their ability to travel, but during the incubation period of the Eggs the adults may feed several Miles from the colony by following continious water trails.
The Clark's Grebe breeds freashwater lakes and marshes with open water that is bordered by emergent vegitation. They are rarely located in tidewater marshes, and has been seen nesting in man-made Lake Havasu marshes since the 1960's. It Winters along the Pacific Coast, along with in bays and estuaries located throughout the Southwest US and Mexico.

Bird (Grebe): Eared Grebe
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Eared Grebe is the most abundantspecies of Grebe in North America, and is quite remarkible in terms of physiology. After it breeds, it undergoes a complex and drastic reorganization of its body fat stores that are located throughout its body, along with changes in the mass of its muscle, heart and digestive organs in order to prepare for its Fall migration. All of this tends to increase the birds energy reserves, along with its body mass, but rendersit flightless. It may have the longest periods of flightlessness of any species of flying Bird, which is up to ten (10) months.
The Eared Grebe breeds in marshes, shallow lakes, and ponds that are located in the four (4) Wester Provinces of Canada. After breeding, many Birds seek highly Saline, slow-to-freeze waters, such as Mono Lake in the American State of California. This is where it's favorite food thrive, namely Brine Shrimp and Alkali Flies. It Winters in coastal bays of the Pacific Coast and is a vagrant on the Atlantic Coast of North America.
The Eared Grebe nests consists of a sodden nest of decayed bottom plants that is anchored in thinly spaced reeds or submerged vegitation in the shallow water of marshes, ponds and lakes. It lays between 1 to 8 Eggs during the months of May to July.

Bird (Grebe): Western Grebe
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Western and Clark's Grebes are strictly North American species ofGrebes. They share much of their breeding habitat and elaborate mating rituals, and were, until 1985, classified as different coloured forms of a single species. Interbreeding is uncommon, perhaps because of slight difference in calls, bill colours and facial patterns. Although Hybrids are rare, they appear to be fertile and produce chicks of their own. Female Western Grebes are smaller than the males, and tend to have smaller, thinner, slightly upturned Bills/Beaks. The Western Grebes dive more frequently then the Clark's Grebe, remaining submerged for 30 Seconds.
The Western Grebe is found in the Western portion of North America, breeding from Southern Canada to Mexico in freashwater lakes and marshes with open water and emergent vegitation. It rarely breeds in saltwater marshes and artificial habitats. It Winters along the Pacific coast, in bays and estuaries that are located in the Southwest of the US and Mexico.

Bird (Tubenose): Fork-Tailed Storm-Petrel
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Fork-Tailed Storm-Petrel is one (1) of the most distinctive of all Storm-Petrel species that live in North American waters, with its ghostly silvery-gray plummage and forked tail. It is the most Northerly breed member of the Storm-Petrel family living in the North Pacific, with it's nesting range all the way North to the Aleutian Islands. It tends to incubate its Eggs at lower temperatures than what other Petrels tend to do, and it's chicks/young can be left alone between feedings for a longer period of time. This is apparently an adaptation to Northern conditions, the Fork-Tailed Storm-Petrel chicks can lower their body temperature, therby allowing them to conserve energy.
The Fork-Tailed Storm-Petrels tends to breed in colonies that are located on offshore, rocky islands, ranging from California North to Alaska, with most of them being on the Aleutian Islands, and South, to islands that are located off the coast of the Canadisn Province of British Columbia. This also includes the American states of Washington and Oregon. The post-breeding dispersal of the Fork-Tailed Storm-Petrels takes the Birds to both the Bering Sea and the offshore waters of the American State of California.
They nest in underground burrows on offshore Islands. Thay lay only one (1) Egg between the months of March to November.

Bird (Tubenose): Greater Shearwater
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Greater Shearwater is a common species in the North Atlantic waters, ranging from Northern Canada to Florida. It is similar insize to Cory's Shearwater, and both Bird species tend to scavenge together for scraps around Fishing Boats. However, as the case may be, their plummages and flight styles are quite different. While Cory's Shearwater has slow, laboured wing beats, and glides on broad, bowed, swept-back wings, the Greater Shearwaters tend to keep low, while flapping hurriedly between glides on straight, narrow wings. The brown smudges that are located onthebody, which are not always visible, and paler underwings of the Greater Shearwater also help to distinguish it from Cory's Shearwater.
The Greater Shearwater nests on just a select fe islands that are located in the middle of the South Atlantic. The total population of this Bird species is WELL over 200,000,000 members. Postbreeding Birds make a very long 8-shaped migration pattern around the Atlantic, spending late June to September in the North Atlantic waters, usually being located offshore.
The Greater Shearwater digs deep burrows in peaty or boggy soil in order to nest. Once the nest is done, they only lay one (1) Egg between the months of September to March.

Bird (Tubenose): Leach's Storm-Petrel
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Leach's Storm-Petrel is a ocean based species of Storm-Petrel Bird that is widespread throughout both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, unlike most other species of Storm-Petrels. It breeds in colonies that are located on islands, which are just off of the coasts, . They only come to land at night and feeding offshore during the day, often many miles from the colony. This wide-ranging Storm-Petrel species has both geographical and individual variations;this means that some most populations have a white rump, but others have a dark rump that just so happens to be the same colouration as the rest of the body. Leach's Storm-Petrel can be distinguished from the similar Band-rumped Storm-Petrel by its notched tail and swooping flight.
The Leach's Storm Petrel breeds on islands in the Pacific Ocean with a range consisting of from Alask and the Aleutian Islands South to California. They also breed on islands located in the Atlantic Ocean, ranging from Newfoundland to Maine. But after breeding, the Leach's Storm-Petrel wanders widely on both of the Oceans, keeping well out of sight of land.
They nest in underground Burrows on any islands that are free of predators, such as Rats or Snakes. They lay only one (1) Egg during the months of May to November.

Bird (Tubenose): Manx Shearwater
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: Most species of hearwaters are known very little about because of their Oceanic and Nocturnal lifestyle, but the Manx Shearwater is the exception to that rule. It is a common species in the British Isles, where Ornithologists, those who study Birds, have been studying them for decades. Long-term banding programs have revealed one (1) Bird that flew over 3,000 Miles (4,800 Km.) from Massachusetts to its nesting borrow that's located in Wales in just 12 1/2 days, andanother that was captured 56 years after it was first banded, effectively making its accumulated migration-only mileage around 600,000 Miles (1,000,000 Km).
The Manx Shearwater breeds on many islands in the Eastern North Atlantic; while being restricted to islands off Newfoundland in North America. The Manx Shearwater regularly occurs off the East Coast of North America, from Newfoundland, to as far South as Florida. It's rarely found in the Gulf of Mexico and off of the West Coast. It's rarely seen from shore and is a cold water species of Shearwater.
It nests in burrows that are located in peaty soil or in rocky crevices. They lay only one (1) Egg during the months of April to October.

Bird (Tubenose): Pink-Footed Shearwater
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: In many ways, the Pink-Footed Shearwater is the West Coast equivalent of Cory's Shearwatert. The way it holds its wings (which are angled at the "wrist"), its size and flight style are all reminiscent of the Cory's Shearwater. Although, the Pink-Footed Shearwaters are fairly variable in plummage, they are always rather dull, with little colour variation. This plummage pattern is similar to that of the Black-Vented Shearwater, and as both species are found off the Pacific Coast in Autumn and Spring identificationis difficult. However, the Pink-Footed Shearwater can be distiguished by it's larger size and its distinctive pinkish Bill/Beak.
They tendto breed on a few islands that are located in the South Pacific, off of Chile's coast, including Juan Fernandez. They tend to spend their Winter (the North American Summer) off the coast of the Americas, often reaching as far North as British Columbia, in Canada, and the Souther portion of the American state of Alaska, often found closer to shore than other Shearwater species. On the Island of Juan Fernandez, the population is reduced by the predation of Rats.
They nest in burrows of Peat, laying only one (1) Egg during the months of October to March.

Well, I DO try. Next group I'm working on is the Ibises & Herons Bird groups. It'll be a touch tricky trying to figure out the damage.

Just to let you folks know, once I post these new things, I'm taking a small break from doing up stats. So, let's get started, shall we?

Bird Information:
Ibises & Herons:
These are large water and wetland Birds that have long legs and look similar, but tend to have different habits. They eat Fish and other Aquatic prey, as well as plants. Most tend to breed in colonies.

Ibises:
These types of Birds tend to live at the waterside or on dry land. They fly in long lines or in a "V"-type of formation. Ibises tend to feed mostly on Insects, Worms, small Mollusks and Crustaceans, probing for them in the water and wet mud.

Bitterns, Herons, and Egrets:
These Birds tend to generally live on the waterside. They fly with their legs trailing behind them, and their neck coiled back into their shoulders. These three (3) "groups" of Birds are pretty much in the same type of family group.

Description: The Green Heron is a species of small, solitary and secretive Bird that lives in dense thicketed wetlands, due to this it can be difficult to observe. This dark, crested Heronis most often seen flying away from a percieved threat, all the while, emitting a loud squawk. While the Green Heron of North and Central A,merica has now been recognized asa seperate species, it was earlier grouped with the Green-Backed Heron, which are found in the Tropics and Subtropics throughout the world.
The Green Heron is an inhabitant of swampy thickets, but live, occasionally, on dry land close to water, across much of North America. The areas that it doesn't inhabit are the Plains, the Rocky Mountains and the Western Deserts, which is due to the fact that these areas do not provide appropiate wetlands. Bird (Heron): Great Egret
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Great Egret is a species of Heron that is both large and white in colouration. It is found n almost every Continent, with the exception of Antarctica. When feeding, the Great Egret would, apparently, rather feed alone rather than in flocks, like many other Birds. It maintains space around itself, and will defend a territory of 10 Feet (3 Metres) in diameter from other species of Wading Bird, which includes members of its own species. This territory "moves" with the Bird, as it feeds. In years that have scarce food supplies, a Chick may kill its sibling, permitting the survival of at least one (1) Bird.
The Great Egret breeds in trees that are located over water or on islands, foraging in almostall types of Freashwater and Marine Wetlands. These range from Marshes and Ponds to Rivers. It is migratoryover much of its North American range, with more Southerly populations being resident to the areas. The distance that they migrate depend on the severity of the Winter.
Their nests consists of twigs located in trees that overhang either land or water. They lay between 2 to 4 Eggs between the months ofMarch to July.

Bird Information:

Pelicans & Relatives:
Pelicans and their relatives to an order of large to huge Fish-eating Birds called the Pelecaniformes. As a group, they have four (4) toes that are connected by leathery webs, and have flesdhy, elastic pouches beneath their Bills/Beaks.

Pelicans:
The Pelican family include seven (7) large species, two (2) of which, the American White Pelican and the Brown Pelican, are North American species. All Pelicans are buoyant swimmers and excellent fliers, capable of great lift on their long, broad wings with wing feathers spread. Flocks can be seen soaring at great heights while on Migration and flying to their feeding grounds. They feed by sweeping with open Bills/Beaks for Fish, often cooperatively, or plunging from a great height to scoop up Fish and water in their large, flexible Bill/Beak Pouches.

Cormorants: With 36 species worldwide, the Cormorants are medium to large Waterbirds, some are Marine, while others are Freshwater. They have broad, long wings, ounded tails, short, strong legs and hooked-tipped Beaks/Bills which are often tilted upward when swimming. When in flight, the neck is extended, but is noticeably kinked. When hunting for Fich, Cormorants dive from the surface of the water, rolling smoothly under or with a noticeable forward leap. They then swim underwater with closed wings, using their webbed feet for propulsion. Most species are dark in colour, apart fromsome distinctive facial patterns on areas of bare skin which become more colourful in the Spring. Most Cormorants nest on cliff ledges, although some prefer trees, others are happy to use both cliffs and trees. There is one (1) species of flightless Cormorant that lives in the Galipagos island chain.

Bird (Cormorant): Great Cormorant
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Great Cormorant, as its name suggests, is the lafrgest of the North American Cormorants, and is also THE most widely distributed species of Cormorant in the world. It sometimnes breeds in mixed colonies with the Double-Crested Cormorant. From a distance, the two (2) species can be confused for one another, especially when seen outside of breeding areas. However, the Great Cormorants can be distinguished by their stouter Bill/Beak, larger size, and their white throat when breeding. It is a coastal species in North America, but in Europe, it is more likely to be found inland. Like other species of Cormorants, it's plummage retains water, which effectively reduces buoyancy so tha it is able to dive more easily. The Great Cormorant can dive to depths of 115 Feet (35 Metres) in order to catch its prey.
The Great Cormiorant breeds on ledges of islands, alonbg rocky coasts, located in the NorthEast US and the Maritimes of Canada. It feeds in protected inshore waters. It Winters in shallow coastal waters that are similar to its breeding habitat, but are not restricted to rocky shorelines. Its Winter Habitat extends to the Carolinas in the US.
Its nests consists of a mound of seaweed, sticks and debris that are added to the previous years nests, which are built on cliff ledges and the flat tops of rocks that are above the high-water mark on islands. They lay between 3 to 5 Eggs during the months of April to August.

Bird (Cormorant): Double-Creasted Cormorant
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Double-Crested Cormorant is a species of Cormorant that is the most widespread of the North American Cormorants. Well, it's been awhile since I posted anything. So here's a bit of info on the next group of Birds that I'm turning into Mutants for AtB2, which will be followed by stats for 6 mutants:

Bird Information:
Birds of Prey:
The defining features of Birds of Prey or Raptors, but not Vultures, tend to be strong feet with sharp Talons that they use for catching Prey, and a hooked Bill that it uses for tearing into the flesh of it's meal.
Vultures:
Of the seven (7) species of New World Vultures, only one (1) member tends to occur in Canada. This being the smaller Turkey Vulture, which has an acute sense of smell, which enables it to detect any carrion that are located/hidden out of sight beneath the canopy of the forest or woods. Now nesting in any abandoned farmhouses, this Vulture species has the ability to stay in the air for hours agt a time, utilizing any lift provided from updrafts, this is due to the fact that it allows it to minimize the amount of energy used in flapping it's wings.
Falcons:
Ranging in size from the dimunitive Merlin, with a Northern breeding Hbitat, to the large, powerful Gyrfalcon, which tends to nest in the Arctic. This group also includes the American Ketrel, the Prairie Falcon, and perhaps the best known Raptor species of all, the fast-diving Peregring Falcon. The prey of Falcons tend to range from Insects to large Mammals and other species of Birds.
Eagles and Hawks:
This group covers a wide range of Raptor species of varying sizes. These range from the Bald Eagle and majestic Golden Eagle, to smaller Birds that include the Northern Harrier, along with various species of Hawks and Kites.
These Birds use a wide range of hunting methods. Forest-dwelling Hawks, for example, rely on speed and stealth to pounce on small Birds among the trees in a sudden, short dash. The Osprey, by contrast, hovers over water until it sees it's prey below, mainly Fish, dives steeply, then pulling up at the last moment in order to pluck its pray clean out of the water with it's Talons.

It features long pointed Wings, a "Tooth-and-Notch" Bill structure, and dark brown eyes that are typical of Falcons. Although, the American Kestrel tend to have shorter toes than other species of Falcon. This fact may be due to Kestrels often diving into long grass to capture its prey, which consists of Insects and small Mammals, which in turn tend to be more difficult for Falcon species that have long, thin toes. Male and Female members of theAmerican Kestrel species tend to have differences in both Plummage and size.
The Ameriucan Kestrel tends to occur near the Northern tree line in bothAlaska and Canada South, East and West throughout most of North America. The species also occurs in Central and South America. It's habitat ranges from semi-open tree groves to grasslands, along with cultivated and fallow farmland and open desert.

Here's the forth:

Bird (Bird of Prey: Peregrine Falcon
Original Animal Characteristics:
Description: The Peregrine Falcon is a species that is distributed worldwide and are known to be long-distance travelers, then there's the fact that the name "Peregrine" means "wanderer". It is known to dive from great heights at speed of up to 200 Mph. (320 Kph.). This is done by using a technique known as "Stooping". Like all True Falcons, the Peregrine Falcon species tends to have a pointed "Tooth" on its upper Beak and a "Notch" on its lower one, which it instinctively uses to bite the neck of its captured Prey in order to kill it. From the 1950's to the 1980's, its breeding ability was reduced by the Insecticide known as DDT. This resulted in thin eggshells that could easily be crushed by the Parents. The Peregrins were then bred in captivity, and then later released into the wild. Their status is now secure.
The Peregrine Falcon tend to occur in a variety of habitats across the Northern portion of North America. This allowed it to range from open valleys to cities with tall buildings. The Peregrine prefers to inhabit cliffs along Sea Coasts, in addition to inland-based mountain ranges. But they also occur in open country, such as scrubland and Salt Marshes.
The Peregrine Falcon tends to nest in shallow scrapes on cliffs or buildings, with nesting sites being used year after year. The females lay anywhere from 2 to 5 Eggs during the months of March to June.

The Prairie Falcons have a tendancy to chase their prey close to the ground, but not often do they dive or "stoop" on prey from any great height.Species of animal, such as the Ground Squirrels are important prey items in some area. This means that Breeding tends to be linked to Squirrel emergence. They also feed on small Birds and other small species of Mammal. Both Males and Females are very similar in colouration, although Juveniles have a streaked rather than spotted breast. The underwing pattern with almost black feathers in the "wingpits" is distinctive, meaning that no other North American species of Falcon shows this mark.
