Same here. On all counts. *sheepish grin* But the wife and 3rd shift part, that is.

He'll be at the open house. He's going to be rooming with me. I'm sure that there will be a lot of questions for him and Kev at the OH regarding the Delta Blues series.

In fact, I was for 5 years prior to the Horizon incident; however, there is a 6 month limit on using equipment from it's inspection date, and I changed jobs 7 months after the last equipment I monitored for that rig. So nothing I was involved with should have been out there. :D

Some of the AFR crew were at the open house this year. It was pretty sweet seeing them again. They turned in Federation of Magic 2 so the manuscript is officially in.

Probably either got permabanned, or decided to cut his losses because the rules and moderation style around here were basically fundamentally opposed to letting him freely express his opinions.

Which is a shame, because while Sound Off has found other argumentative types with unpopular opinions to replace him, he was one of the few people with consistently smart ideas on the Nightbane board.

Anyone know anything about Jeremiah Lionheart? He kind dropped off too. Last post was about not getting to go to the Open House this year. He's been on since, but not for a long time.

Ramon Perez Jr.? I know he did the Machinations of Doom book recently, but I really, really wish he was drawing for Rifts books again. His art style, along with those of Breaux, Long and MacDougall, are what defined Rifts.

LOTS of people keep their Online Persona names the same from Board to Board to Board.

Do yourself a favor if there's a person that you are really curious about, and Google/Bing his or her name on the 'Net.

I've personally kept track of multiple members that way, who don't post here as regularly (or don't post at all).

Hello again, everyone! I'm still alive and still working long hours in the oil field; however, I've had a productive vacation art-wise and at least one piece should be of interest to Rifts fans.

I've been doing a series of pieces inspired by the bomber nose art from WWII and finally got around to getting a Rifts themed one out of my head. It's a psi stalker babe in a composite suit of dead boy armor (old and new styles mixed) who is the chosen mascot of the 30th tactical squadron of SF-7 stealth fighters, thus their chosen moniker 'Stalkers'. Check it out and enjoy.

Bomber Nose Art Bonus: Rifts

The rest of my recent work is in the gallery there on my Deviant Art page. Poke around and enjoy.

The whole "All Psi-Stalkers are bald" thing only cropped up in RUE.
Before that, psi-stalkers were no more naturally bald than Line Walkers naturally wore beer-hats.

..and big sexy gaps in her MDC armor.

It's pin-up art for the nose of a war machine, very stylized and very fantasy. It has to look cool and that's it. Realism takes second seat to visuals.

That's my defense, and I'm sticking to it. :D

The above is in fact truth, the imagery is caricature and anything goes; however, I will be honest, the last time I had to draw a psi-stalker for real, they were bald and had tattoos just because the artists thought it was cool to do them that way. Prompted by your observation, I cracked open Rifts Ultimate Edition, which I never had the chance to read through, and sure enough, they are now, officially hairless. Go figure.

Apparently, the soldiers in the 30th tactical squadron think a flame colored cone of hair is sexier than a globe of skin, thus the mascot they have emblazoned on their craft.

NOT a change for the better.

Quote:

OR, the art is of a psi-stalker that a member of the squadron had met, a psi-stalker that happened to have a Cyber-Disguise Type AA-1 implant, which includes artificial hair that can change up to five different colors and 15 different shades.
Just because psi-stalkers are now naturally hairless doesn't mean that they never have hair.
In fact, I'd expect some of them to get cyber-disguise implants just to conceal their nature (predators often like the element of surprise).

(okay, or it could be a wig....)

 Don't worry about it, the Coalition troops won't have read about psi-stalker baldness, so they'll never know the difference!

Does anyone know what happened to either GA or Ninjapuppy? Both of them posted that they'd be starting an online game and both of them stopped posting soon after, even though they both got a few of us wanting to play.

This is what I have heard from either the writer, or Kevin himself. I thought I heard that Deep South and Delta Blues is DOA also, and Gods & Dragons. But I am only 60% sure on those.

Rifts: Gods and Dragons is Palladium Fantasy: Gods and Dragons. They just dropped the Rifts from it because dragons and gods seemed to fit the Palladium Fantasy theme better. At least that is my understanding of it. There is still M.D.C. values for everything in there and pretty much each entry explains how something is different on Rifts Earth. D&G is one of my favorite books.

I believe there was also supposed to be a companion to Rifts in addition to the fantasy one. Not that one replaced the other.

No, it's not. The Rifts version was announced a few years after D&G was released, and was supposed to cover new and/or different gods than the other one. The conversion notes are there simply for those who wanted to use it in Rifts.

Having said that, it is a good book, and I hope the deific powers get ported over and/or expanded. I really hate it when Palladium makes one setting get awesome rules for something and another either gets shafted with a lame version (spell creation rules) or they act like the rules don't exsist after publishing them (starship construction rules).

Got a couple here:

Michael Kuchiarski (very early Palladium Fantasy illustrator; did pics for Palladium Fantasy 1st, 1st Revised, and the first two 'World Book' versions (Old Ones & Adventures On The High Seas)); did the bulk of the art duties on Erick Wujcik's (R.I.P., chummer) Amber Diceless, and since then, I can't recall his work in either gaming or comics or in any online forum or convention art show. Any leads there?

Martin McKenna did a mess of swell work in Palladium Fantasy 2nd Ed. and some of its supplements (amongst them my favourites are definitely his Wolfen pics in the mainbook and 'Wolfen Empire'). I realized he did a mess of footer art in some of the 'Massive Book Of Werewolves/Vampires/Etc.' anthologies in the early 1990s, and I believe he's an English or U.K.-resident artist (or was at the time), but since 'Wolfen Empire' I have no recollection of his work being in any Palladium RPG.

I do know some of where Michael Dubisch has been, or where he recently returned to; he started posting on his DeviantArt page again a couple of months ago. Dropped him a line, tho' haven't heard back since then (it was less than two weeks ago, and it seems he's keeping busy recently).

Cheers!

-Boe.

...Mike Wilson?

His range of illustrations, from starships to power armor to the articulation of limbs to facial expressions, are nothing short of incredible.

Haven't seen his work in many post-2005 books.

Does anybody know about the lovably eccentric forum member Smiling_Bandit and what he's doing in real life?

Cornholio_Prime -frequently makes these little side comments as an homage to The Smiling One; also, in coming back to this Thread he saw that the first post included a 2004 reply from Erick Wujcik and it made him a little sad in the remembering

Also.....has anyone heard about how former forum member Sentinel is doing these days IRL, years after his near-fatal motorcycle accident?

The Smiling Bandit does occasionally post on Sound Off, not quite sure what he's up to these days. And I haven't heard from in years. According to the forum, he last posted back in 2008.

There was a top secret piece we were working on that Keith really wanted to see produced in 2006 as a personal favor.
