So people will stop making dozens of topics on this subject, I'm putting all the answers in one topic.

So, whatever happened to... Kevin Long?

Erick Wujcik wrote:
As it happens, I saw my friend Kevin Long earlier this year, when Kate, Kevin and myself got together for lunch in Madison, after which he gave me a great tour of Raven Soft. As you can see from his company bio (below), he's now Art Lead on Quake 4; which means you'll see some absolutely breathtaking graphics when the game comes out!

I'm also the guy who introduced Kevin Long and Kevin Siembieda. And I still vividly remember that late afternoon, with the warm sun, while the two Kevins talked and talked together. It was very cool being there, and watching these two great guys get to know each other, and form a friendship.

Eventually it was time for Kevin Long to move on. Frankly, the guy was just too talented for paper role-playing. He had the artist chops to make the big money in computer games, and the brains to pick up the computer skills. Plus, as a natural leader, electronic games is where he's appreciated for being able to run a team of artists, animators and modellers.

Kevin Long

After attending the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan and majoring in advertising illustration, Kevin worked in the Detroit-area advertising industry and also worked in role-playing as a staff artist for Palladium Books doing covers and B&W art for RIFTS and Robotech. In 1997, Kevin was hired by Raven Software and has worked on the Hexen II Mission Pack: Portal of Praevus, Heretic II, Soldier of Fortune, Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force, and Soldier of Fortune 2. Kevin is currently the Art Lead on Quake 4.

Yeah but why? I did try using the search option Mr. Wujcik recommended, but I didn't find anything within the 28 returns that dealt with Bill Coffin's presence at Palladium or lack thereof... :? --GJ.

Well, to be specific, on one of those 28 returns, you'll find a thread that refers you over to the forums at rpg.net:

http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?s=& ... genumber=1

From there, if you look through Pages 20-22, up to where I state I'm making my last posting on the subject, you'll find what you need.

Well, mostly.....
....Keith Parkinson???

I absolutely LOVE Zeleznik, and my favorite "Rifts" Cover is Cyber-Thor on "Pantheons" (although I personally think that his Artwork has gone WAY, WAY down on the China Books), but I believe that the BEST Cover is a tie: Keith Parkinson's Slaver Barge on Rifts MB, and the Vampire Kingdoms (yes, I know that's Kevin Long's).

Also, I always liked his concept of the Physical Appearance of the Slugorth!!

So where is he these days?? Working at Wal-Mart???

I disagree, the best cover is Source Book 1 (also Kevin Long). Its, the best because its hella cool, and because it was ripped off by a rock band for their albumn cover.

As for Parkinson, I think he does art mostly by commision. I have seen him on the cover of several fnatasy books, and he used to have a web site.

*edit*
He does have a web site. Google search him.

Yeah I miss Bill. I know Wayne is still doing stuff for HU, but writing is still his second line, so it's not quite the same, and PF is in worse shape it seems.

Still, BTS is out and VU 2nd edition will be out soon, so I'm still pretty happy.

In case anybody wonders, Newton Ewell has returned to the realm of RPG artwork. He is supposed to be doing some stuff for White Wolf's Exalted line.

He mainly did Marvel stuff. He's most well known for S.H.I.E.L.D. (1-3 and 5), Captain America (110, 111, and 113), and Xmen (50-51).

His most famous would be this cover;

Randy is working for Gas Powered Games, specifically on Dungeon Seige II. He still freelances too, and just finished some stuff for White Wolf.

MECHANOIDS SPACE????

I'm old. I bought the OG Mechanoids books back in the 80's (even got the comics...both of 'em). And I'd like to see more Mechanoids books before I die!! Ok, I'm not that old (only 34), but I still need more Mechanoids books!

MECHANOIDS SPACE????

I'm old. I bought the OG Mechanoids books back in the 80's (even got the comics...both of 'em). And I'd like to see more Mechanoids books before I die!! Ok, I'm not that old (only 34), but I still need more Mechanoids books!

While we are on the topic of games that don't exist...wasn't Void Runners supposed to come out last year? I really wanted to see that one...seemed really interesting.

I actually emailed Steve a while back. I loved his ET maps and wanted to know what he used to make them. He's a professor or something at a college. I can't remember, but I found him via Google.

He's at Virginia Tech, I think.

He used... Adobe Illustrator? Is there such a thing? It was called "Illustrator" I think. I'll see if I can dig up that email when I get home tonight.

Adobe Illustrator. yup I use that to for my maps, makes things easy. Its mostly used as a graphic designer program - think paint for profesionals kind of.

He did a lot of covers for David Eddings and Terry Brooks, two of my favorite fantasy writers. I did not realize he was the illustrator behind them. Fabulous art work.

I got burnt out on the business, the stress and strain took its toll. And yes Kevin and I seperated and divorced almost two years ago, but we are still very good friends and talk often. I have since moved on and remarried and now live in Ohio (temporarily, plan on moving farther south in the next few years). thanks for asking :)

Oh and I'm still Palladium's biggest fan and champion.

I think Maryann use to make the T-shirts. So I wouldn't be surprised!
