All of the games I've ran so far have been great, especially my second BTS session that was a group of people who had never played a Palladium Game before. They were great and some of them were really jazzed about the system.

you know, in every single game I was in, I heard the same thing, "I haven't played this in twenty years or so", but everyone had a ton of fun. I also had about five players new to the system in total. I think it worked out really well. :D

I'm with you on this one. I am hoping that all the GMs, and as many of the players as want to, will post notes on their games for all us poor people who couldn't attend.

I was having the same thing. They were people who wanted to try our game for the first time or
they were fans looking for Palladium Book game experience. Great fun, can't wait to do it again.

My brother, a friend, and I were in the "Dishonor Among Thieves" game with GM Michael Lord. It was really a fun. There was a group of 8 of us, 5 of whom had never played the game before but had heard of it. I had fun helping the GM fill people in on the background of the world, and I think that the excitement and enthusiasm I brought in my descriptions translated to the group.

The plot setup was that some crime lord had previously hired the party to do a mission, and after the mission the crime lord betrayed us and tried to kill us all, and didn't pay us. Naturally we all wanted to take some revenge and get our promised pay day (one way or another) so we all went to this crime lords mansion to rob them. The mansion itself was a dungeon with auto turrets, magical traps, ghouls, an enslaved dragon, and other monsters.

I choose to play an Altara Blind Warrior Woman to help explain why I knew a lot of things as the Splugorth minions generally have good intelligence on a variety of places on Rifts earth as well as magic and tech. We also had a Juicer, a Russian Cyborg, a Blood Druid, a Holy Knight, a Demolitions expert, a Crazy, and a hacker. The GM did a good job with the character sheets, they were easy to follow, and he gave us all a good mix of equipment and powers and abilities.

In the game we took our time sneaking and breaking in through the side door of the mansion. We hacked a cleaning drone (Roomba) and rigged it with a camera and explosives to do recon for us. There was an encounter with some people we met before which turned into a boxing match between the Juicer of our party and a mercenary Bioborg. In the hallways we got caught in a magic trap that blinded everyone in the party (except me ;) ) and fought a bunch of Ghouls. Then we made it to the arboretum/courtyard where we encountered a sleeping magical girl and a unicorn. Probably my favorite part of the adventure was convincing the party that the Unicorn itself is a huge piece of treasure as they go for millions on the slave market, even the horn is worth millions. We fought and killed the girl (who turned out to be a dragon) and captured the unicorn but were unable to sedate the unicorn so we ended up chopping off its head. I believe someone said "It's really hard to split up something that is 'Priceless' among 8 different people, but 10-50 million credits for the Unicorn Horn is pretty easy to split up 8 ways."

We fought some more monsters and got some more treasure, then we blew a hole in the side of the mansion and all ran out with our treasure to the extraction point. I am pretty sure we only got to see about 25% of the dungeon (if that) but we are all coming out multi-millionaires with a chest full of Eye's of Eyelor, another chest full of precious gems, the unicorn horn, and a bunch of dragon bones and body parts.

Overall it was a blast, and I'd like to thank the GM for putting together the game.

Comment: Life is like a potato; sometimes it's brown, but sometimes it's green.
GenCon 2019 was great! I ran three Palladium events this year. Here are the events and a summary of what happened:

“Escape from Gramercy Island”: The PCs are super-villains locked up in the super-max prison Gramercy Island. (Highly recommend that book, btw). Their objective is simple: escape. I have run this one-shot several times and each time the players take a very different approach. The players were great but I ran into one problem… well, not a ‘problem’ because it was actually quite fun: one of the supervillains had “Techno Form” as a super ability. If you don’t know what that is, look it up. Well, the player playing that PC happened to be a Mechanical Engineer in real life. So yeah, many creative tactics were used. It made my job as a GM more challenging, but it was really funny at times and I enjoyed it. And, yes, the players escaped!

5 of my 6 players had no Palladium experience, but we made the best of it; I welcome new players. I was happy to show them how the system worked and they seemed to catch on quickly.

“Vampires R Us”: This one was a bit of a challenge. The PCs each played a secondary vampire who has taken control of a small mining town in Mexico. The purpose of the town is for the vampires to gather locals together as ‘cattle’ for themselves, as well as their master. The players/vampires learn that some of their ‘cattle’ have been disappearing. 2-3 people every few days. They discover that there is an ‘underground railroad’ of sorts that are escorting locals out of the town, a few at a time. The PCs learn that a team of vampire hunters are responsible for this outrage! Long story short, they learn that there is a large team of vampire hunters on their way to the town, and it would be a tough fight at best. They considered simply burning the town to the ground, running away, and just start fresh elsewhere. But instead, they chose to stay and fight. Unfortunately, I’m a horrible tactician in real life and, apparently, a bad die roller so the players were successful in fighting off the vampire hunters. It also helped that all of the players were familiar with Palladium and the Megaverse.

What made this one-shot so great wasn’t the plot or the outcome… it was the players playing vampires. They were a riot. They really got into it and many laughs were had.

Lastly, I ran:
“Finding the Stones”: This is the one I was looking forward to playing the most. Unfortunately, 3 of the players didn’t show up. We were going to try to run it with three people, but they were able to get a buddy to join so we had 4. The plot: a rogue scholar has discovered the existence of powerful stones that grant the wielder the ability to create worlds, control the mightiest creatures, and even control gods. She and the rest of the party were tasked with retrieving the stones and get them to Lazlo before the bad guys got to them. So they travel to the general area where the stones were supposedly located: a small pre-Rifts town in north-central North America named “Gena.” There they encountered a handful of Xiticix, which they handled a bit too easily. Eventually, they find Gena but are ambushed by a Coalition special forces team that was also looking for the stones so that they could destroy them or do whatever the CS does to things like this. It was a good combat scene with the players fighting off the CS… One of the PCs was a Glitter Boy, so I put him up against a couple of Samas suits as well.
Unfortunately, we had to cut it short because the 4th player had to be somewhere, so the ending was rushed. Long story short: they learn that the stones are in a graveyard… they find a sarcophagus with a “G G” inscribed on it.. they open the sarcophagus and find the skeletalized remains of a human holding the pouch. The players took pouch, and I handed them a pouch in real life. They opened the pouch and found a set of dice. Those are the stones that create new worlds. (Get it?!) The grave belongs to Gary Gygax. Gena was Lake Geneva. (Kudos to thought “V’Ger” after reading that.) My wife came up with that idea, and I thought it was clever. The players enjoyed it. Or at least they seemed to. :)
Note: I’m aware Gary Gygax is not buried in a sarcophagus. I believe he was cremated. Regardless, I employed an artistic license. I’m a GM, I’m allowed. :-)

So those were the three events I ran. I was flattered that two of my players remembered me from past Palladium Open Houses, and I remembered them as well. I love that Palladium is a community.
