It says "Demon Knights do possess enough flight power to escape the bonds of a planet's atmosphere when necessary." So at least Mach 5.5 for an earth type planet and atmosphere. Could just half the Mach speed for atmosphere's that would be a logical solutions. Or its they magically go fast...

How about bringing their shields on lone when the Cruisers are dead? Still weaker shield better than none.

Or can they snap on one at a time per frigate docked when needed if the main ship's shield's fail?

Don't forget about the Cauldron of Destruction in Rifts England the Druids make. On certain times of the year in the proper place it can destroy the greatest of rune weapons even.

I think any thing captive soul like would be released once the rune weapon is destroyed.
