Well, that still doesn't rule out a large task force since 78, 79, 80 and 82 would indicate Task Force 3 is at least 82 warships in size. That might still leave you with hundreds of smaller corvettes to 7 or 8 dozen capital ships.

Since they started off fighting the Zentraedi it makes sense that there may be larger versions for fighting an enemy that size. Thing is, that's only the novels/comics/RPG.
