Re: Magic Unlimited Brainstorming

Magic and psionics are not popular with my players because they involve keeping track of points. They prefer powers which can be used as needed with almost no math involved. As a GM, I don't mind it, but neither is it used that extensively. You could always house-rule it into your campaign that the...

Oof. I hate when a campaign goes off the rails like that. Only once have I had to call a complete mulligan on a game, and that was due to player intransigence - they player refused to have their character do literally anything. Re: Wizards/Spell Casters in Heroes Unlimited, how many play

I like playing a mage every now and then, but in HU as in most games, they're a bit of a "glass cannon" - very powerful and versatile, but fragile. With the right array of skills and equipment, though, they can hold their own. One of the problems with mystic study characters in HU is that ...

The only issue I've encountered mixing mages with superheroes is that the heroes have a hard time believing in magic. That's always been an RP thing though, and nothing to do with the mechanics. You and your GM need to think about your character's day job, and living expenses, and what percentage of their after-tax pay they could reasonably save in the amount of time it took to get to 4th level. HU is a game unlike most, in that "loot" from defeated villains doesn't often enter in...

Try to prepare just a short adventure - most of your first evening is probably going to be character creation.
