alas, while i wanted to build this idea up during my current trip, I just haven't had the time (nor books) to work on it further...

so I figured I'd toss this up on the boards for you guys to slap around, see if any ideas could be generated to make it better...

ideally, this is one what would fit as an "RCC" kinda concept into any Palladium setting....

the idea, if the title hadn't given it away,
was to generate a "Super Patriot" style template,

much like a nega psychic (old one) the Super Patriot is a person fueled by their beliefs... in this case their belief that they represent the good guys, or at least the side that should run things....

the classic John Wayne war hero types,
people who, desipite the overwhelming odds, pull through because Uncle Sam and apple pie demand it... (Or Emperor Prozak and Buzz Cola as the setting may cause...)

alas...
aside from some general ideas...

like powers of indomitable will, two-fisted justice, and the ability to detect traitors to the cause...

I've kinda hit a wall of where to take this to flesh it out to a full article...

I really like the idea of a Super Patriot class, I like the idea of a hero or villain power by his beliefs. I played a hero can Mandrake, sort of a Captain America type hero. He served with George Washington and was teleported into the present by a wizard. I just used Physical Training as his class.
Maybe you could flesh out your article by fleshing out the belief of the character. Like the religious hero who is able to withstand the vast mental powers of a demon lord but not really strong against the mental mutant. I think it's cool when heroes have certain flaws in their powers.

Cool concept!

I like this concept a lot! Makes you wonder about the Cold War era with super patriots on both sides. The ones believing in democracy and the ones believing in communism. I see a lot of potential in this.

The idea is a good one. Throw in some basic bonuses to most/all attributes. Basic combat bonuses (Patriotic characters like these in comic books are usually excellent fighters). What about giving him a few unique abilities to this O.C.C./category, but powering them with I.S.P.? Make the I.S.P. total a normal amount, but the abilities low cost (and definitely unavailable to psychics). Thius the powers are not always on, but as and when needed. Maybe look at expanding the repertoire in terms of leadership/inspiration/iconic figure related abilities. I have a few ideas that may be of help - PM if interested.

Chello!

Oh, yes, definitely a good idea. Very "Golden Age" in feel...but appropriate for the 80's (Rambo) and now as well.

It seems like a great idea, and something doable. The Karmic Aura idea is great. I was thinking something based of Defic Aura because of the following of the home country, but Karma is better.

sigh... was hoping to keep this from being another "Choir Boy" character class... (See: Manhunter)

sadly, i don't have my books handy to start working out details...

By choir boy do you mean goody-goody Steve Rogers type?

I think the Karmic power approach suggested by other posters sounds very interesting.

but therein lies the problem...

stick him with Karmic Power, and he's just another mutant...

i get "use the tools available" but there's already basically an OCC out there with a code of ethics and Karmic Power... it's a great OCC, just not one that needs a dozen variants...

half the power of Karmic Power is the neutralization of enemy bonuses... which, while cool, is a bit overt for this kind of character. John Wayne never made the enemy skills weak, he was just better than them.
Steve McQueen wasn't untouchable, just indomitable.

Iron Will from PU1 could work, in concert with some combat enhancing powers. Iron Will makes the character resistant to psionic and mental assaults, thus making the character able to withstand the mental suggestions of non-patriotic parties.

Add in any suitable combat powers, along with suitable accessories and you've got a patriot hero coming up.
