Historical HU

Unread post by LostOne »

(Got to thinking about this ever since I found the HU in other times than modern thread)

Without crossing the forbidden "conversion" line, what figures from history or mythology do people think would be interesting to play in a historical setting for HU?

Many of the figures who are noteworthy in history might be said to have possessed super powers such as an extraordinary attribute, etc.

So which ones would you like to play if open to any historical period?

How about Adolf Hitler?

Unread post by Puroresu »

I've always wanted to try Adolf Hitler for a World War II-style HU game. Hitler had supernatural/superhuman charisma in his lifetime. Of course, there's Stalin as "the iron man". How about Franklin Delano Roosevelt possessing ESP? I've often wondered how come I haven't seen a historical HU timeline in the books compared to other roleplaying games.

No he didn't.
What did do was tell a depressed and angry nation what it wanted to hear.
That makes him intelligent, not charismatic. People tend to blame him for WW2 when it's true cause was WW1.
Damn ICE/BCP/BorderPatrol! Damn everyone who won’t damn ICE/BCP/Border Patrol!! Damn everyone that won’t put lights in his windows and sit up all night damning CE/BCP/BorderPatrol!!!
If you support ICE/BCP/BorderPatrol at this point, you would have called the Gestapo on the people surreptitiously moving into your neighbor's attic and huffed that you were only following the law.

I don't believe the no conversion rule applies to things in the public domain.

Yeah, you're right.

Yeah, you're right on Hitler telling the Germans what they wanted to hear. Still, it was interesting seeing the propaganda creating the illusion of a leader believing in order and discipline, when the reality revealed chaos and confusion behind the scenes.

If by "custard", you mean "Custer", I will have to vehemently disagree with you on him being a "hero". More like a fool responsible for a lot of needless deaths. :nh:

Spectre and I have talked at length about an HU2 or N&SS based WWII game.

Actually, the soon to be started pbp HU game at www.explorersunlimited.com will be WWII era.

I'm going to be running a character in that game, and I'm quite excited about the game.
