Sounds right to me.

And another good idea I never thought of. 8-)

I had come up with a "quick-and-dirty" house rule of a +1 per hyper-sense power, conditional to its' relevance: Hyper-Hearing isn't relevant to perceiving written word clues or visual clues.

I am sure I can make a notation or two on the character sheets though :-)

You might consider a slightly larger bonus for the Super-Slueth, Secret Operative, Ancient Master, Natural Genius, and similar characters.

Also, powers like Bookwyrm, Criminal Intuition, and EXT IQ (if you use it: not everyone still does) should confer a bonus as well.

I'm pretty sure it was a fan based list, although I could be mistaken.

Given that Perception rules only appear a couple of books (Nightbane, BtS-2, R:UE), I'm pretty sure none of them took the powers of HUII into account.

I am introducing the perception rules into my next game but realised that everyone is at an unmodified roll due to this rule not being included in the main book.

I was thinking that those characters with enhanced senses whether by power or training would have an advantage to perceive things..

What do we think about a +2 perception bonus for each power/ ability that enhances the senses? Too much or too little?

What's wrong with an Unmodified roll?

Preception was introduced in Nightbane, and NO ONE got special bonuses to it.

No-one in Nightbane is a super hero though.

Many certainly could be considered such.

A little reverse engineering might help: look at the characters and creatures of Nightbane and BtS who do get bonuses, look at their abilities and powers, and apply those to similar HU powers and abilities.

Maybe an additional +1 for Mega Heroes, who have double the range on their vision powers.

I can see giving perception bonuses for exceptional senses, sonar, radar, etc.

I can't see giving it for a high IQ. IQ and perception are unrelated. Now, if there was a roll for interpreting what was percieved, then that would be under IQ. That would be the old Sherlock Holmes power - interpretting 3 strange miniscule clues and extrapolating the solution to a baffeling puzzle while playing the violin badly and having a nose full of coke!

I could actually see a perception penalty for high IQ. Alot of time, brainiacs (Ok, don't kick me outa Mensa just yet :P ) get so deep in thought, that they hardly notice anything around them. While they're contemplating the secrets of the universe, they step out in front of cars, walk right into poles, miss doorways and walk into walls, and try to "set" their coffee cup down where there's no table.

Heck, Einstein while working for the Manhattan Project, had to have a personal chaperon with him at all times. Otherwise he'd forget to eat, sleep, use the bathroom, or bath (phew!). He actually collapsed several times during the project from not eating or sleeping, sometimes in mid conversation!

That was never a Rifter rule...that was the offical rule sinse Nightbane was Nightspawn.

The bonuse for Persception is the IQ score on the ME PSI bonuse table. And as NS said, It's a cannon rule set forth in the NS book with the introduction of the perception rule. And the first +1 to percetion is gained @ level 3 and I do belive (doesn't have book infront of me) that the other bonuse are @ L8 L12 and L15......someone withthe NS or NBbook correct me if I'm wrong.
May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.
Each question should be give the canon answer 1st, then you can proclaim your house rules.
