this is one of the heros occs I created
Svartalf- if Cherico were a character created in a point game system, he'd have all his scores in geeky skills and his youtube and weird net stuff schticks all paid through a a Terminal Bad Luck (with more nasty GM intervention) disadvantage, and probably an Uncouth (can not have social skills) disad as well...
In an RPG with deadly situations that character would have had to be replaced a dozen times over[

With all the existing Power Catagories, RCCs/OCCs/PCCs, and magic catagories, I haven't felt the need to create new Power Catagories.

On the other hand, I have found a few existing catagories I have either wanted to modify or drop altogether.

I think Minor heroes should be able to cross-class slightly, with one power, and maybe a few psionics, or a full non-exclusive style, or other small across-the-board abilities.

I like being able to tack the Minor option on, just like the Mega option.
Really though, for myself, if I want a lesser-powered character, I can usually create one with an existing power catagory.

Well, with my option I can create a Daredevil or Black Canary character, for example.

I had no problem creating such characters either.
Of course, I don't want to break the conversion rule, so... 8-)

Without breaking any conversion rules, how do you apply non-exclusive martial art styles to characters that have only one major power or two minor powers? What Power Category do you use?

I use any Power Catagory, really.
The character trades Skills or Skill Programs (some characters like Analytical Genius' don't get Programs).
There are some (admittedly outdated) guidelines in N&SS for that.

I find however, that I am generally more liberal with Martial Arts than other GMs, because I prefer the more complex fighting arts to the HtH Basic/Expert/Martial Arts/Assassin styles.

You'll never hear me say Palladiums' N&SS is too complicated to use for HU.

However, I also make extensive use of HtH Karate, HtH Aikido, and the other styles from Rifts: Japan, because they are generally less power-intensive than N&SS and Mystic China styles, and thus fit better with Super-Characters.

I didn't find the fighting styles from Rifts Japan to be too limited: more than not, they had the types of maneuvers I was looking for in a martial art, without getting over-balanced with Martial Arts Powers.

I am not automatically opposed to using full N&SS styles for Special Training (like the Hunter/Vigilante, The Stage Magician, The Sleuth, and the Secret Operative), and the Robot Pilot and the Super Soldier, but I try to keep an eye out for over-use of Chi Powers and Atemi Powers (really for the blatant over-use of any powers).
Sometimes, you have to question how a C.I.A. trained spook learned Body Chi and Dragon Chi, or Tamashiwara and Vibrating Palm, or Mind Walk.

I agree with you martial art powers are definitely out for anyone that is not a Martial Artist. That is why I think Quickie Martial Arts are OK, although a Hunter/Vigilante with One Shot is acceptable, along with some of the Arts of Invisibility.

Definitely.
When it makes sense for the character, I allow it.
A Stage Magician with Mystic Invisibility (which is not actually a magic ability), or Iaijutsu makes more sense than a Stage Magician with Negative Empty Chi and Dragon Chi.
If I think the player is just trying to power-whore, I will nix the idea.
