Mecha, Unit by Unit and Point by point Oddballs Pt 1
this covers the odd stray units in Macross, for example

this is usualy refered to as the Jotun or "Orguss Valkyrie," and is more or less "Fan service" as their is a resembelance to a Mecha that turns up in Orgus.
as it is, its kind of hard to determin just what the armament of the unit is, it seems to have some kind of weapon wich may be a higher powered version of the GU 11, and apears to have the booster from the super VT, which means it may have the missles as well, and for some reason has a arm sheild.
granted its posible that the Mecha does not actualy exist and may have been a computer generated cover for a classified weapon system. . . .

because of it's similarity to the Orgus, i doubt you could legally give it stats.
but i'd say it's a varient 'heavy armor' set up like the armored battloid gear.
only instead of lots of extra missiles and armor that restricts mobility, it's a little extra armor with space manuvering gear. the sheild is the allow the mecha to guard the cockpit and sensor head, while it uses the gunpod to shoot targets. not unlike riot police gear.
a close defense set up.
units with this gear would be assinged to pick off any pods that manage to get close.

Jotun Pic from the uRRG Valkyrie File
Well, it would appear that there are 2 versions of the 'Jotun': with or without the NP-FB-01 fuel and thruster.
It apparently has the same missile armaments on the forearms as the 'Super', plus x2 3-shot missile packs on the hips and a big honkin beam cannon attached to a shield.
I would guess that minus the FAST-Pack module, the Jotun could be used much like a Destroid or GBP-1 'Armoured' Valkyrie.
With the FAST-Pack, its a variant of the Super Valkyrie.

Really?
It just looks like a different configuration of Armored Packs strapped to a standard VF to me, much like the Armored Veritech that Rick takes out...

which had to eject the extra armor and weapons to transform.
unless you mean the FAST pack add on's, which are very different.
look at the 'torso', and the shoulders. that extra armor would keep the mecha from transforming. it would have to be ejected to change modes.

Ah, I get your meaning. Yeah, I agree, it would have to jettison the armor to transform, but I think there's still a normal VT under there.

nope, that came from Dougram.

the Jotun looks like the Orguss, from Super Dimensional Century Orguss
there is a proposed side veiw done by a fan to show how the design could transform.

basically, it has half that big chest peice vanish to allow the backback drive/launcher fit in.
