I usually start them off in the late teen or earily 20s. I am a fan of playing human and mutant animals. (humans being my primary) this keeps them young and usually within their prime of life.

My personal PCs are usually around late 20s to mid 30s.
Because I GM so much, I run NPCs from all ages 9-5000+.
I generally like to have my PCs have a little age and maturity, I definitely prefer playing adults to teens, and even early 20s.

Depends on the PC. I've played kids as young as 16, and mature adults as old as 50. (Using human equivialnt years)

Unless I have a back story that involves the character being older, I start them at whatever is considered the 'young adult' age for that race. 18-22 for humans, 5-7 for Psi-hounds, etc.
Personally, I think that we have a duty as role-players to try to anchor each other to reality a bit. To keep other gamers from being complete freaks and weirdos, or even psychopaths, if we can. Killer Cyborg

Depends, NPC wise the range varies drastically but I like to keep things varied, so I avoid the middle ranges where the PCs tend to be based and prefer to go with older or younger characters.
Personally, I like younger characters or older characters as well. As low as 14 and as old as 50-something. Everyobyd else plays the middle range so I like to spice things up a bit.
