Would a TechnoMage, a character who uses technology such as localized gravity field generators/disruptors, holograms, flamethrowers and the like to simulate the effects of magic, be a Hardware character(possibly analytical genius) or a Magic character(maybe mystic study) or perhaps both?
I think he would be the former, as he does have knowledge on the basic concept of certain well known spells(fireball, lightning, illusions etc.), but no magical abilities whatsoever and thus has to reproduce them using technology(usually carries a tricked out staff able to reproduce at least a couple spells, along with palm-sized devices that can be thrown or attached to the target of the "spell" (possibly using sleight of hand and minor deceptions) and then remotely controlled from the staff).
What do you think?

just depends on how you want to score it...
if you want them easilly identified as technology,
then yeah, make him a hardware, and just look for ways to build the items...
if it's a "beyond reality" level of technology what might as well be magic, make him a mage, and have his skills reflect a focus on electronics and computers...
if i was going for it...
i'd prolly make him an analytical hardware,
and see if the GM would allow him to have analised some alien technology, and thus, instead of a list of gatgets,
he gets access as per a Mystic Bestowed, or mystic object,
where he has a "PPE Battery" (alien power source for the tenchology) to power the spells...
alternately, would be to ask to tap RIFTS and make a technowizard...
