Which OCC would you be if it was YOU.

Unread post by NoJack »

If you yourself were instantly transplanted into Rifts Earth. Which OCC would you like to become, considering the inherant dangers and downsides (and upsides) of each class.

Mage?

Juicer?

Crazy?

Cyber-Knight?

CS grunt?

I didn't do a poll because there are simply too many options. Just remember that this time it is you not a character on a piece of paper.

I would be dead as soon as i stepped out of a rift.

But assuming i lived long enough to train for an OCC, i'd be a gunslinger.

Well, I would like to be a Cyberknight, but if I went the route of the Man-at-arms class, I would probably just end up as a head hunter.

Realistically I would probably end up a rogue scholar, or City Rat.

Even more realistically I would end up a Vagabond (chances are I'd have some candy and breathmints, instead of soap, in my backpack when I get dumped).

Gimme a Silver Wolf Glitter Boy since I already live in PQ and relatively educated, but not enough to get me in trouble.

I would be a vagabond, speaking realistically.
I would want to be a mage, but don't know if I could handle it; I have trouble following complex step-by-step instructions and am not so hot in the meditation department.
I don't have the mechanical aptitude to be an Operator, or the medical skills to be a Body Fixer or Cyberdoc, or the skills to be a Rogue Scholar or Rogue Scientist.
I'd pass on being a Crazy, because sanity is pretty important to me
I'd pass on Juicer Conversion because I don't like drugs and don't want to die.

If I lived long enough to get some decent cash, I suppose I might opt for partial Borg conversion...

Hang on, perhaps I misread this title for the thread. I figured it was a "if you could be anything, what would you be?" concept. But if we're putting real life knowledge and stuff in, then I'd have to be an Operator (Or any other technician style OCC), Robot Pilot, Rogue Scholar, Storyteller (Hell, no one would know the stuff you tell them about before The Coming Of The Rifts was a lie or not, and truth is stranger than fiction...) or a Marine in the New Navy.

being a slave on Atlantis would be cool...

Seriously, assuming that I know what i know about Rifts already, I would prolly learn some magic and high tech skills so i can not only pilot power armor, but be able to survive in a MDC world with out power armor too. Seeing that I would have nothing of value except my pre Rifts underware and keyboard, I doubt i would be able to afford anything beyond some modern underware. So, i guess PA is out and Magic is in asap. Of course, i dont belive in magic in real life, so it would not work for me in Rifts, so basicly, i would just die...or go back to being a slave...

I would not subject myself to any cybernetic/bionic alterations, nor dabble in the Evil magic arts. I am not a psychic either. I have nothing of value to obtain MDC weapons and armor.

But the one thing that I have as an advantage is, I know more about Rifts than Plato does. I know exactly how to kill certian demons and exploit their weakneses and assess the strength of enemy forces by identification of their tech equipment. I know the history of Real earth, and Rifts Earth, so I MAY be able to sell/trade my info for security/valuables/spell knowledge.

I know martial arts, so I would not be completly defenseless. I MAY even have some "powers" that can translate into MD attacks and defenses, but I dont think im THAT good yet.

Assuming that I would remian in the same location, I would be in the territory of the 1st Cavalry and just a hop over the river to Chi-Town, so i would be in a pretty human friendly land, no worries there.

I'd also be drawn to Temporal Wizard or Warlock.

I'd really be blown away by millenium trees! I'm not really a druid type of a guy but I could go for living in a millenium tree in a heartbeat. I wouldn't mind having a go at developing the Elixir of Immortality, either! Ok, that's Mystic China, but internal alchemy's internal alchemy, right?!

Realistically, the CS would probably consider me a sort of Rogue Scholar. Or since I basically live where Psyscape supposedly is, hopefully I'd be some sort of combat enabled psionic. Which means I'd most likely still be bereft of psi ability and be basically living off the good graces of Psyscape.

What I'd want to be is something completely different: Gimme some power armor, durnit!! Not a Glitter Boy just because I don't want to be a target, but more than likely I'd join up with Free Quebec. I already speak French, somewhat. Or the NGR if I could get there. Yah! NGR 'Borg. Blasting away at them filthy D Bees while shouting German profanity.

Okay fine. Give me an SDC pop gun and leave me in the shadow of Psyscape and I'll still be blasting away and screaming profanity in German..... while the hordes of chaos ignore me until they need a snack.

Then, it's early retirement on a utopia world with my two pleasurer's Olivia and Kitten and wouldn't cast much beyond globe of daylight and manipulate objects for the rest of my life.

 *ponders for a moment*

Okay, forget my earlier post... I'd still become a Psi-Tech, but I'd like to be the one who builds cages and other accessories for these exotic pets DLDC is whistling up in his 'interdimensional pet store' (hey, he's gonna need someone to build that drakin luck bird's megadamage dinosaur-leather arm mount) and hopefully gain enough wealth to follow his lead in retirement options.

Sorry y'all, but the thought of living in a utopia with a pair of personal Pleasurers is just TOO good to resist. :ok:

I was thinking about whether or not I would really sacrifice my "humanity" to become a full conversion Borg if given the chance... that was the type of thing I was thinking about. Who in their right mind would go for a juicer conversion? I have played them lots, but unfortunately I'm not so attached to my Characters that I mind if they die. Really I'm only put out if I didn't take a few others with him. But with my body, and if it was really me would I be willing to put myself under the knife? I actually don't think so. Unless it was necessary.

As for a mage class, well I have the faith to back it but it's not really for me. Psi stuff, well as I'm not psychic now there is little chance that I would be there. On the other hand, Cyber-knight training would be a good thing. Don't know that I'd ever actually become one, but it's something to aspire to.

Magic User, as soon as I learned of the possibility. I'm a patient guy and I think I could make it through years of apprenticeship for whatever OCC I managed to get. I would go for one of the "schooled" mages rather than granted powers, if the option were available. I would lean towards Ley Line Walker, or Temporal Wizard if the option were presented. I'm not currently a practicing occultist or anything like that, but I enjoy having control over my own destiny. It seems to me that becoming anything other than a (schooled) mage would have a lower chance of survival if the world of rifts were to come to be.

Also, if one owned thier books and read often, you could have the personal knowledge of a scholar. Knowledge is power.

If in North America, i'd probably try to become a Battle Magus or Gunslinger. If In Russia, Reaver Assassin. If in China, i'd like to search out the Geofront and see what they have to offer (assuming I survive the initial journey) If in Japan, either Sohei Warrior Monk (for the body hardening) or Mystic Ninja (for the psionics and stealth abilities). With Chi-Gung Mega-Damage skin, you have a much better chance to survive if pitched into battle. Of course, i'd never turn down the offer of being a Cosmo-Knight.

Psychic rogue scholar or mind mage (not mind melter, mind mage, as in PFRPG P.C.C. :D ) Although being a robot/PA pilot would be fun as well.

I like the technowizard. I have always liked gadgets and magic that would allow me to get the best of both worlds

In order of preference

LeyLine Walker (Magic would be a huge help... and if you just stepped through a rift.. chances are you're on a leyline at least)
MindMelter (Awesome psionics make you a lethal weapon)
Coalition Soldier (There's safety in numbers, and with all that equipment at your disposal.. I'd feel safer)
Rogue Scholar (Well... I'd probably just try to become a citizen... but seeing as I know how to read and write and do quite a bit more... like programming and the such.... I'd probably be considered a rogue scholar)

90% of the "Earth" Population would die from Culture shock and as meals of unsavory creatures. The rest would be hunted down by the Coalition or whomever as unwanted Alien / D'Bees and exterminated.

Other than that, I would be a Wilderness Scout.
