A roll on The Category & Number of Super Abilities table on 161 says "1d4 psionic powers from each of the three minor psionic power categories." Is that 1d4 from Healing, Physical, and Sensitive combined, or is that 1d4 from Healing, 1d4 from Physical, & 1d4 from Sensitive for a total of 3d4 powers?

A question about the english language....hummm...

"1d4 psionic powers from each of the three minor psionic power categories."

eg. 'Collect a flower from each of the three girls.'

Sort like the example but; using the example again; rolling 1d4 for each girl to determine how many flowers to collect from each girl.

It's 1d4 abilities from each category. If it was 1d4 total abilities, it would be weaker than the lesser option listed directly before it. You still might roll a total of 3 (1 each category) if you are actually rolling in a random fashion as the book suggests. You would have 3 to 12 abilities, 1 to 4 fom each category.

That's a good question! It's most likely interpreted as 1d4 powers from Healing, 1d4 from Physical, and 1d4 from Sensitive for a total of 3d4 powers.

Here's the breakdown:

"1d4 psionic powers from each": This implies a separate roll for each category.
"Three minor psionic power categories": Healing, Physical, and Sensitive are the three categories mentioned earlier.
So, you'd roll 1d4 for each category, potentially resulting in a total of 1 to 4 powers from each, for a maximum of 12 powers (4 powers/category x 3 categories).

3d4 total was how I read it as well. Otherwise a mutant psychic is getting even more nerfed than a Latent Psychic. But I try to always check my assumptions.
