Nothing has captured my imagination more than Robotech. It's easy to get caught up with its world building, the technology and human drama. I'm hoping to capture some of that magic with a special art page I started earlier in the year --

To flesh out the universe of Robotech via illustrations. I've always loved the idea of tying all the seemingly disparate things together...

Ye gods....
I know Southern Cross rates the lowest in popularity of the arcs for Robotech fans, but those fans who pay attention to it turn out some of the finest fanart to show their love....

Just liked the page....love the use of combined units of the ASC and REF/UEEF on earth between wars. I think this is something that Palladium overlooked in the RPG. In ASC you had Carpenter return (and IIRC another group return at the end of the series). As well you had Wolfe come back between series. I would see this (and the appearance of UEEF units in Love And War) as a way to bring Alphas, early Cyclones and other UEEF mecha and equipment into the beginning of the Invid Invasion.

Fall of the Southern Cross PosterWe're currently running a new "series" that elaborates on the events prior the arrival of the Invid. This conflict would give way to the dramatic evacuation of Earth.
I've always felt this period was fertile territory since a lot happens to the universe prior to New Generation...
A large part of Earth's defense fleet lies in ruinThis was only the beginningLove the use of combined units of the ASC and REF/UEEF on earth between wars... As well you had Wolfe come back between series. I would see this (and the appearance of UEEF units in Love And War) as a way to bring Alphas, early Cyclones and other UEEF mecha and equipment into the beginning of the Invid Invasion.
We wanted to make this a true bridge between series; we also didn't want to be bound by the official material and continuity. The one main goal I follow is to flesh out the universe of Robotech, and have fun with all these unseen elements at the same time.
The Masters may have perished, but many still fight on!Tensions on Earth reach boiling pointI know Southern Cross rates the lowest in popularity of the arcs for Robotech fans, but those fans who pay attention to it turn out some of the finest fanart to show their love....
And that's partly what inspired this little fan project. Of course, I personally don't want be limited to covering this arc in the series. I hope to create images beyond the series timeline...

This is what the franchise has been needing to do for years on end. Like so many things over the years, missed opportunity after missed opportunity by Harmony Gold and its licensees. Keep up the great work mechachap!

Loving the work you're doing. Especially the anime tributes of Dana and Nova as the Dirty Pair and Lisa and the Bridge Bunnies in Yamato bodysuits.
Too bad there wasn't a way for Palladium to do a sourcebook based on your work.

An Armored VF with corpse-paint buzz-sawing a Zentraedi's brains in half while a Mac-II stomps on a meltran in power armor, impales a Zentraedi warrior with one arm and blasts through a crowd with another, and in the background another Armored VF uses a flamethrower to melt a Zentraedi, who screams his death throes on his knees. You can do it!

Hmmm...'Commodore Benson'...'Benson' is another name, like Zand*, that sees a lot of revision in the nebulousness of the Sentinels era...In both the McKinneyist novels and the Waltrip comics, Benson is T.R. Edwards' adjutant and is something of a bumbling accomplice to all Edwards' crimes(more so in the Waltrip comics than in the novels, where he tries to rape Minmei, and becomes her first kill). He does not appear to appear in the Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles(that role seems to have been taken over by Zand), though it's possible that there may be a Benson military dynasty like the Burkes and the Reinhardts, with Bensons serving on both sides of the Edwards Schism.
(*Zand appears in the McKinney novels as a depraved mad scientist/cabalist trying to drain Dana Sterling's life force, while in the comics he appears briefly as a warped parody of Exedore/classic Igor. In Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles, he changes direction, appearing as Edwards' advisory lackey, and is bald-pated, thin, and goggle-wearing, and not terribly brave).

Looking at the most recent set of images...
I must agree...
Angelo strikes first to defend his commander's honor(AFTER he first quickly grabs her hand and prevents her from punching the REF moron out, tells her he ain't worth it, and that there are some things that are just simply delegated to her XO. THEN he punches the guy clean out with a left hook).

Thanks a ton, taalism, for the support. Commodore Nolan Benson was hand-picked by General Edwards as commander of Task Force Odysseus. While Robotech Visions is aware of previous depictions of Benson, it reserves the right to offer a different take on the characters, stories, and situations than fans may remember.
p.s.
Robotech Visions has yet to depict Dr. Zand.

Angie would nod to Dana, then ask her "Allow me, ma'am."

And the UEEF dimwit will just stand there for a gape-mouthed moment, going "Huh?" before meeting the knuckle-train, express run.
Cue tables going over and bodies flying.
If the Black Lions are in the same room, they'll side with the hovertankers, having found a common enemy.

Was it implied that Bron died?
Well, let's see how the story unfolds...
One of the things we're really proud of is the design of our SWORDFISH Cruiser, part of the family of 'Fish' ships of the Robotech Expeditionary Force!

Lovely, all.
The Garfish; the UEEF's kitbash starship.
The Ikazuchi could also be just as versatile, if one doesn't mind swapping out those fighter bays for alongside-repair bays or missile bays(for truly IMPRESSIVE missile spam attacks).

And equip that Ikazuchi with a reflex cannon. I always wondered if you could make those bays modular, as well.

given their placement, i don't see why they couldn't be. one set of fast launch bays for battloid mode alpha's. another scaled for Condor battloids. maybe another for Conbat fighters or some other mecha (bioroid interceptors?). or maybe a massive missile launcher bay or deployable gun turrets for anti-warship use (which would make them less useful vs invid)
as for reflex cannons, eh.. but i could see a synchro-cannon module that could dock with the bow. something bigger than the artillery sized ones used on the hoverplatform in the show and ship turrets in tSC, but smaller than the massive bow guns on the SDF-3 and SDF-4.. presumably such a 'cannon ship' though would need extra power generation (maybe powerplant modules replacing the forward quick launch bays? would leave the ship more vulnerable to being disabled)

Wonder if, post-first Liberation Fleet disasters, they toyed with the 'strategic escort' concept and considered fitting some of those quick launch bays with point defense weaponry. Of course it would be shot down by the assertion that embarked fighters are far better and more versatile defense than static PDS, and that appropriately outfitted Garfish(or other light craft) would be better choices than taking a strategic capital ship spaceframe out of commission for escort duty.

kinda like this huh? Although, I believe it is a super heavy particle beam cannon. What ever it is called, it is a super capital weapon.
RT Visions: Task Force Odysseus arrived in the Earth-Moon system.RT Visions: Task Force Odysseus was attacked by an unidentified enemyikazhuchi with massive cannonSuddenly I love the Ikazuchi again. The last one even looks like it might be more aerodynamic. "ba da bop bop baaah, I'm loving it!"

i beleive those are attempts to salvage the horribly deformed Ikazuchi's from some of the MOSPEADA
flashback scenes to early in the war with the inbit. they are purely fan creations. the show scenes only lasted for a second or so, and i suspect the artists just sketched in some vague starship like stuff and called it good. (honestly, they look like ikazuchi's and izumo's as drawn by Kent Burls..)
