Folklore & Superstitions

Unread post by Beelzebozo »

I also posted this over in the Nightbane board, since it's really written with that in mind, but I figured I'd put up a pointer here, too, since it may be useful. Folk superstitions can be a great sourse of ideas.

A short addition to Shadows of the South's "Local Color" section, a list of various superstitions relating to the weather, death, luck, and other things. Helpful for creating the right mood and flavoring your NPCs.

Do you think thers a O.c.c that gos with this?
Ordinary people need the Magic items more then the Psychics and the Magic-user.

Re: Relics - There's already the Book of Josiah McKee, for one (mysticked-up Bible). I've got about four more in mind (corn-shuck dolls, staurolite crystals, a magic dulcimer, and the Sword of Robert E. Lee), ranging from minor to the equivalent of a Greater Artifact.

As far as a CC using this, I could see a lot of these signs being used by a Mountain Witch (see my page) as props or components for spells and psychic abilities. Conventional mystics probably would, as well.
