What did your Mecha step on?

Unread post by Peacebringer »

Mecha really tears up the environment:

01-09 Bushes, fences, curbs, mailboxes and other things
10-14 Rubble
15 Lost dog(s)
16 Automobiles
17 Houses, small-buildings and light-structures
18 A Civilian (1D6 civilians in an urban-setting)
19 Someone's hopes and dreams
20 Zendtraedi droppings (Yes, they're the size of a bus)

21 an IED that did go off the first time. (does it go off this time? See your GM for the answer)
22-41 pile of dirt
42 a jar of dirt
43 a battle-pod leg. 01-69 Not attached to anything else, 70-00 is attached to something else. (look up to see if there is an evil grin on the GM or not.)

I'm thinking of all the damage to unreinforced roads.....
The municipal pothole patching crew's gotten over loving the paid overtime and has gone to actively hating you for all the unnecessary, as-soon-as-possible repair work.

53: A loose sheet of steel (the equivalent of a Mecha-sized click-plate) that makes a loud metallic 'BANG!' when stepped on.
54: A strip of Zentraedi-sized toilet paper. It sticks to the bottom of the pad for a few miles before anyone notices (and YES, it's Mega-Damage rated. Only 1 point though.)
55: A crate of fresh but unused glow-sticks. Almost all of them burst & mix, creating a very bright (at dusk or night-time, or in a darkened tunnel) puddle, staining the mecha's foot for about 2-4 hours. Washing it off takes a pressure-hose & 5 minutes to clean it off, but your team-mates are compelled to quote lines from the Predator movies. ("If it bleeds, vhe cahn kill it." "Shut it, Rosco." / "The jungle, it came alive & killed him!" "Not funny, Jones." / "Get to de choppah!" "*Still* not funny, Rosco!" / "Time to let ol' Painless out of the bag." "Now *that* we can agree on!" (*sound of a GU-XX smacking the head of another mecha*)

70. A laser rifle...causing a malfunction of the firing mechanism causing the weapon to fire on full auto until the magazine is expended and each shot causes the weapon to jump and fire off in a new direction for the next shot.

Guess what happened at my 4th of July party with a 30 round firework box.
I know it is a little extreme to advocate the death penalty for stupidity...but can't we just remove all the warning labels and let nature take it's course???

A Zent. rifle might of do that. But not a laser rifle. There is no recoil in laser smallarms to make it jump around.

The rules are not a bludgeon with which to hammer a character into a game. They are a guide to how a group of friends can get together to weave a collective story that entertains everyone involved. We forget that at our peril.
