Sample Bases

Unread post by Aaryq »

Anyone have any sample bases for the Southern Cross or Post-Zentradi Apocalypse RDF? More Southern Cross but RDF is good enough. I'm working on an unconventional campaign and trying to have a good military base as the center of the campaign.
There should be a specific sub-forum of the Rifts forum dedicated to the only hope for salvation of the human race, the Coalition States.

Nothing official, I think... the only military bases that play a prominent role in the series are in the Macross Saga. The UEDF world headquarters at Alaska Base, and to a lesser extent the military base on Macross Island that ends up inside the SDF-1.

The extra detail in the Macross OSM suggests that a typical base on a planet's surface would have somewhere between 2 and 5 squadrons of VF-1 Valkyries, each of which consisted of 15 to 24 aircraft, plus an unspecified number of support vehicles for defense purposes (like self-propelled AA guns, missile launchers, destroids, etc.). 2-3 squadrons seems to have been the average, with 5 as being a wartime extreme for high-security areas (like Grand Cannon 1). After the war and the establishment of Macross City and its New Unified Forces Command facility inside the SDF-1 Macross, the base in Macross City became the largest, with a whopping 16-20 squadrons of VF-1s assigned at any given time.

the old RPG had some floor plan's in various books, but i don't think they were based on anything in the show. at least not directly.

there are however various external veiws of ASC bases and outposts..

we probably have the most images of the 15th's base:

and in new gen we see a base or two:

that latter one though had been converted to an invid hive so the interior shots aren't any use.

and there are a couple in the macross part:

however if you just need a field base or other more temporary site, you could go online and look for pictures of real world field bases from iraq, afghanistan, vietnam, etc, then adapt what you see.

As previously mentioned, you can get an idea from the show.

ASC bases though seem to differ depending on the "branch", since the Moutain Base-Hive complex doesn't look much like the 15th's. So service "branch" of the ASC may be important to in this respect.
