Vampire crazy?

Unread post by The ineffible GM »

Just wondering if this is covered somewhere in the books that I'm not remembering,

What happens if a vampire turns a crazy?
Or someone with psynetic implants?

I believe they would simply turn into a vampire either a wild or secondary. Their regeneration abilities would expel any implants/cybernetics as soon as they started to turn.

That would be my take, as well. The former crazy would remain crazy, but would be a vampire without the crazy powers.

The newer VK book states that 'borgs that have more than a quarter of their body replaced by cybernetics are immune to the Slow Kill. While I didn't see anything regarding MOM or juicer implants I'd treat them just like the remaining 'borgs in that cybernetics and implants are expelled.

Yes borgs or people far enough down that path are immune to the slow kill but I don't think juicers or crazies have any protection from it. But the resulting vampire is also not juiced up or have extra crazy powers the transformation to vampire poops out all implants/chemicals/cyber ware.

I do believe the vamps regen powers expel any implants.

Based on the original VK (I don't have the revised version), page 19 states that "Humanoids with cybernetics, including prosthetic limbs, can become vampires. The cybernetic limbs and implants are magically expelled..."

Page 20 goes on to say that Borgs can not be transformed. It gives no such protection to Juicers/Crazies.

So absent a conflicting statement in the revised version, I'd rule that:
-- A Crazy can be turned.
-- The implants would be expelled.
-- Lose all benefits from the Crazy implants (attribute bonuses, psionics, etc)
-- I'd reduce the potency of his Crazy-based insanities down to character traits, habits, and the like. [The source of the insanities (implants) are gone.]
-- Skills are adjusted per p19.

This could make for a rather comedic vampire. :fool:

Wasn't there something in Splicers about how crazy implants are different and don't come to life and attack you like with Juicers? Makes me wonder if this should have us re-approach how it works with vamps.
