Atlanteans Book! & Golem Master O.C.C.

Unread post by Panomas II »

Well... Like the title hints: I'm super excited about the Atlantean Book...

Ah! Back in the day I wrote some material and submitted it to the Rifter for Manoa. Though it wasn't very good, (and my first submission to the Rifter) it was actually a book. In there somewhere was an O.C.C., The Golem Master! It's pretty awesome (If I don't mind saying so myself;) and I even got a couple of my players to make a couple. We did an entire campaign based catalyst time of the when the Atlanteans first drew monsters through the Rifts. The whole campaign was based on this "before time" The group traveling early earth trying to right the creatures their culture had un-wittingly released... Before making the long trek to South America (Manoa) They're was couple of other Atlantean Classes in there, too... A Scout O.C.C. Everything was a big less gonzo power wise for Rifts. We had an absolute blast.

I don't Want to post outright the class because It's very similar to all formatted Atlantean O.C.C.s, but I am posting The Golem Master... Golem Creation Guidelines... Lets look at those...

Before I do though congrats Carl!

Manoa’s Stone Sculpture Statues (Golems)
Many of the Statues that decorate main streets and parks of Manoa are in fact Statue/Golems (or other forms), created through a rare ritual only known and perfected by the Golem Master. The ritual invocation utilized to create this powerful and unique variant of golem differs from that; the pentagram shape (for standard ritual) used and drawn from the blood of animals is instead carved directly into the stone pyramid floor by the hand of the Golem Master. Without the use of the blood of animals, the pentagram is then filled with diamond and emerald gems, from which the ritual channels P.P.E. throughout the pentagram, while additionally drawing its energy from the collected reserves of the pyramid for the Golem Master’s creation. Other than some distinct differences (which are detailed here and later) the ritual is nearly identical to the ritual spell or Earth Elemental invocation, which brings a stone creation to animation. Only in the city of Manoa and True Atlantean colony of Alexandria, are these variants of the Create Golem ritual known, and are impossible to replicate (for those rare few that do know) without the use of a ley-line empowered stone pyramid, or the required components which are mentioned below.

Golem Master Progression
While an experienced Golem Masters ability to shape, mold stone, and create specialized golems is impressive, it takes a bit of time and dedication to reach their full potential. A high level Golem Master can create as many golems as they wish limited to their M.E. attribute, but a beginning Golem Master is much more limited. The amount of golem creations any Golem Master can command/control at one time is limited to four, without confusing the golems themselves. Note: G.M.s/players should use the Stone Master O.C.C. experience table for player advancement of the Golem Master O.C.C. Golem Masters trained in Manoa, typically donate a statue or sculpture (at around 5th level) golem creation; frozen for use in the event the city itself should come under attack.

Step One: (progression)
Size, Likeness and Form: At 1st level, the Golem Master may create (for beginning players this is where to start) one stone golem, without the typical permanent reduction of P.P.E. or Hit Points. Additionally the Golem Master can create another golem without the standard reduction P.P.E. or Hit Points at levels 5 and 11. Limits of creation or step one; are that the golem can only be as large as the Statuette or less. Beyond 1st level, the Golem Master will attain the proper mastery (experience) to create a Stone Golem Sculpture at level 3; and a Stone Statue Golem at level 5.

Step Two: (progression)
Heart: At 1st level, the Golem Master understands how to create a stone or iron heart. The Master additionally gains the knowledge/ability to create the silver (or any precious metal) heart at level 2; and the crystal heart at level 4. A heart cannot be later traded or replaced in a previously designed golem. An 11th level Golem Master (minimum) has the ability to create a golem with two hearts for cumulative effect; as long as those hearts are made of the same material. The process of designing two hearts however requires the Golem Master to sacrifice twice the amount of P.P.E. and Hit Points listed for step one.

Step Three: (progression)
Gem Placement: The Golem Master can utilize (has knowledge of) 8 gem crystal components to enhance a golem creation at level one. The Golem Master can select two additional components per level of experience to have knowledge of use, starting at level 2.

Golem Master O.C.C. Golem Creation Rules
It’s up to the G.M.s discretion to potentially use or modify the general creation rules below. Once all the steps have been followed, as well as all the bonuses and abilities recorded and accumulated, the golem is at the player characters disposal, but still limited to the types of commands (keep it simple) the creature can follow. Note: No other discipline of magic other than the Golem Master is able to create what follows here.

The first process of the Golem Master is to decide that shape or likeness of the golem, which corresponds to the specific pentagram (as well as size), and is engraved on a stone pyramid’s floor. The superior design and nature (or craftsmanship) of the creature or human likeness, takes its expected toll towards amount of P.P.E. needed, attention to detail and additional time (twice as long as standard invocation ritual) from that off the standard “Create Golem” ritual. Two gems (usually Onyx) are required for the golems eyes (placed appropriately), and a heart made from stone or other material. Additional Gems may be placed inside the creations heart that can produce a number of desired effects. Finally the Golem Master places two drops of his own blood on the creatures gem eyes, and speaks the words of magic with the intent to define (see step four) his golem’s purpose. This final process will drain a certain amount of P.P.E. and or hit points from the master permanently!

Step One: Size, Likeness and Form
The size and weight of the Statue/Golem is the first consideration in the creation process. The golem can be a minimum size of 6 inches (15cm) in height; such as the Staffature, to a maximum of 12 feet (3.7m) tall at the head; such as the Statue. Creating a Statue/Golem any larger than this is possible but offers no advantages towards strength or ability. Designing one smaller is just not possible for the Golem Master to animate. Likeness (human or animal form) can be determined by the Golem Master but has nothing to offer other than the functionality of the likeness chosen. For instance choosing the likeness of a horse or riding animal is of no advantage, beyond the Statue/Golem’s size, heart, or gem endowment, other than; it may be ridden like a horse or mount for those that have the skill.

Stone Golem Staffature
Appearance: The Golem can mimic any humanoid or animal form known (in miniature) to the creator. As long as the creature which the design is focused towards has a heart, it can be made in any likeness that resembles a living creature, or the classic plain golem design. Common are small fairies and all sorts of animals. The Golem Staffature is often mistaken as small stone toy.
Base Attributes: I.Q. 6 (childlike) P.S. 6 P.P. 18 Spd. 08. Physical abilities are considered supernatural, P.E. is not listed due to the fact the Golem Staffature does not tire. P.B. is calculated at a base score of 14 +1 additional point per level of experience starting at level 2. The Golem Master may choose to keep the P.B. total anywhere under the maximum total.
Size: 6 inches to 1 foot in (15cm/0.3m) in height.
Weight: 5 to 30 pounds (2.3/13.6kg) average.
M.D.C.: 1D4+2, base.
Physical/Combat Bonuses: Two attacks per melee. The Stone Figurine has an additional +2 to strike, parry and dodge as well as +2 to save vs. magic. The Golem is impervious to psionic attack, cold, heat, disease, gas, and fear. Magic energy (including magic weapons) and M.D. fire/plasma do only half damage. Ordinary M.D. weapons and explosives do normal damage, though the small size of this Golem makes it difficult to strike, leaving those who try to suffer -4 penalty for success. Mend Stone Spell: Restores maximum M.D.C. to the Golem Staffature each time it is cast. A damaged Golem of this size, in a stone pyramid will be fully restored within an hour’s time. Damage that is 40 M.D.C. over the Golems base from a single attack has an 80% of destroying the creature permanently. Even if not destroyed, it will take the Golem 1 day per 10 M.D.C. over its base to reform itself (over 20 points-2 days, 30 points 3 days etc.).
Activation/Creation: The Stone Staffature requires 200 P.P.E. to animate, which can be drawn directly from the master or channeled from a stone pyramid’s P.P.E. reserves. The ritual as well requires a minimum of 4 diamond or emerald gems; placed appropriately in the create golem ritual pentagram. Through the process of the ritual the gems themselves will be useless (turned to dust) after the ritual. The final process of the ritual requires the mage to poke his-own fingertip or tips and place two drops of blood over each of the creation’s gem-eyes. Successful creation of the Create Staffature/Golem ritual drains 1 Hit Point and 1 Point of P.P.E., a sacrifice required and subtracted from the master’s base forever.

Stone Golem Figurine
Although any likeness in stone can be crafted most common are; cats, small dogs, turtles and any animal similar in size. Small God like stone idols are also recently very popular. Golem Figurines that include animal species with wings (as with all size, likeness, and forms detailed in this section) are not able to fly.
Base Attributes: I.Q. 6 (childlike) P.S. 12 P.P. 17 Spd. 10 Physical abilities are considered supernatural, P.E. is not listed due to the fact the Statue/Golem does not tire. P.B. is calculated at a base score of 12 +1 additional point per level of experience starting at level 2, if desired.
Size: 1 foot to less than 3 feet in (0.3m/0.9m) in height.
Weight: 35 to 120 pounds (15.8/54.4kg) average.
M.D.C.: 3D6+10, base.
Physical/Combat Bonuses: Three attacks per melee. The Stone Figurine has an additional +1 to strike, +2 save vs. magic. The Golem is impervious to psionic attack, cold, heat, disease, gas, and fear. Magic energy (including magic weapons) and M.D. fire/plasma do half damage. Ordinary M.D. weapons and explosives do normal damage. Mend Stone Spell: Restores 3D6 M.D.C. to the Golem Figurine each time it is cast. A damaged Golem of this size, upon entering a stone pyramid will restore 1D6x10 M.D.C. per hour.
Activation/Creation: The Stone Figurine requires 300 P.P.E. to animate its likeness, which can be drawn directly from the Stone Golem Master or a stone pyramid’s P.P.E. reserves. The ritual as well requires a minimum of 6 diamond or emerald gems; placed appropriately in the create golem ritual circle, which will be destroyed (turned to dust) or useless when the ritual is successfully finished. The final process of the ritual requires the mage to poke his-own fingertip or tips and place two drops of blood over each of the creation’s gem-eyes. Successful creation of the Create Golem ritual drains 2 Hit Points and 2 Points of P.P.E., a sacrifice required and subtracted from the master’s base forever.

Stone Golem Statuette:
The Statuette style as size of Golem is typically designed in the likeness of human children, dwarves, large dogs, wolves, and smaller cat family predators. Though as all with all stone Golem forms, any is available.
Base Attributes: I.Q. 6 (childlike) P.S. 20 P.P. 14 P.B. Spd. 12 Physical abilities are considered supernatural, P.E. is not listed due to the fact the Statue/Golem does not tire. P.B. is calculated at a base score of 10 +1 additional point per level of experience starting at level 2, if desired.
Size: 3 feet to less than 6 feet in (0.9m/1.8m) in height.
Weight: 125 to 350 pounds (56.6/159kg) average.
M.D.C.: 6D6+10, base.
Physical/Combat Bonuses: Four attacks per melee. The Stone Statuette has an additional +2 save vs. magic, and is impervious to psionic attack, cold, heat, disease, gas, and fear. Magic energy (including magic weapons) and M.D. fire/plasma do half damage. Ordinary M.D. weapons and explosives do normal damage. Mend Stone Spell: Restores 3D6 M.D.C. to the Golem Statuette each time it is cast. A damaged Golem in a stone pyramid will restore 1D6x10 M.D.C. per hour.
Activation/Creation: The Stone Statuette requires 500 P.P.E. to animate its likeness, which can be drawn directly from the Stone Golem Master or a stone pyramid’s P.P.E. reserves. The ritual as well requires a minimum of 8 diamond or emerald gems; placed appropriately in the create golem ritual circle, which will be destroyed (turned to dust) or useless when the ritual is successfully finished. The final process of the ritual requires the mage to poke his-own fingertip or tips and place two drops of blood over each of the creation’s gem-eyes. Successful creation of the Create Golem ritual drains 1D4 Hit Points and 2 Points of P.P.E., a sacrifice required and subtracted from the master’s base forever.

Stone Golem Sculpture:
The most common Likeness in Manoa, most of the Golem Sculptures pay homage to the many diverse gods of the Greek/Roman pantheon. Large Animal Predators such as Lions Tigers and small bears are also popular.
Base Attributes: I.Q. 6 (childlike) P.S. 25 P.P. 10 P.B. Spd. 13 Physical abilities are considered supernatural, P.E. is not listed due to the fact the Statue/Golem does not tire. P.B. is calculated at a base score of 8 +1 additional point per level of experience starting at level 2, if desired.
Size: 6 feet to less than 8 feet in (1.8m/2.4m) in height.
Weight: 375 to 550 pounds (170/249kg) average.
M.D.C.: 6D6+25, base.
Physical/Combat Bonuses: Four attacks per melee. The Stone Sculpture has an additional +2 save vs. magic, and is impervious to psionic attack, cold, heat, disease, gas, and fear. Magic energy (including magic weapons) and M.D. fire/plasma do half damage. Ordinary M.D. weapons and explosives do normal damage. Mend Stone Spell: Restores 3D6 M.D.C. to the Golem Sculpture each time it is cast. A damaged Golem in a stone pyramid will restore 1D6x10 M.D.C. per hour.
Activation/Creation: The Stone Sculpture requires 800 P.P.E. to animate its likeness, which can be drawn directly from the Stone Golem Master or a stone pyramid’s P.P.E. reserves. The ritual as well requires a minimum of 10 diamond or emerald gems; placed appropriately in the create golem ritual circle, which will be destroyed (turned to dust) or useless when the ritual is successfully finished. The final process of the ritual requires the mage to poke his-own fingertip or tips and place two drops of blood over each of the creation’s gem-eyes. Successful creation of the Create Golem ritual drains 1D4+1 Hit Points and 1D4 Points of P.P.E., a sacrifice required and subtracted from the master’s base forever.

Stone Statue/Golem
Stone Statue Golems in Manoa mimic the likeness of mount and pack animals such as the horse, donkey and elephant. A few of the stone statures also resemble classic creatures such as the Minotaur, and similar as well as many idolized Greek/Roman heroes.
Base Attributes: I.Q. 6 (childlike) P.S. 28 P.P. 08 P.B. Spd. 14 Physical abilities are considered supernatural, P.E. is not listed due to the fact the Statue/Golem does not tire. P.B. is calculated at a base score of 8 +1 additional point per level of experience starting at level 2, if desired.
Size: 8 feet to 12 feet (2.4m/3.7m) in height, or more.
Weight: 600 to 1200 pounds (272/544kg) average.
M.D.C.: 6D6+40, base.
A damaged Golem in a stone pyramid will restore 1D6x10 M.D.C. per hour.
Activation/Creation: The Stone Statue/Golem requires 1000 P.P.E. to animate its likeness, which can be drawn directly from the Stone Golem Master or a stone pyramid’s P.P.E. reserves. The ritual as well requires a minimum of 12 diamond or emerald gems; placed appropriately in the create golem ritual circle, which will be destroyed (turned to dust) or useless when the ritual is successfully finished. The final process of the ritual requires the mage to poke his-own fingertip or tips and place two drops of blood over each of the creation’s gem-eyes. Successful creation of the Create Golem ritual drains 1D4+2 Hit Points and 1D4 Points of P.P.E., a sacrifice required and subtracted from the master’s base forever.

Step Two: Heart
The heart is a crucial step the creation process and has to be carefully created prior to the actual animation ritual. Each heart constitutes a different material and as well enhances certain features of the golem. A heart designed by a Golem Master usually includes specialized gem endowment (step three) which enhances the ability of the golem design.

Stone Heart
A heart crafted from solid but regular stone offers no additional bonus or abilities, unless the Stone Golem Master fuses some additional gem/crystal components with this heart, listed in step three. The Heart is the most popular in Manoa due to the fact that this heart does nothing to change the external appearance of the golem, leaving nothing to clue that the golem is anything other than an ordinary (by appearance) statue.
Heart M.D.C.: 30.
Maximum Additional Components: 3
Additional Sacrificial P.P.E.: 0.

Iron Heart
Physical Attribute Modifier: P.S. +6 Spd. -4.
Heart M.D.C.: 50.
M.D.C. Modifier: Stone Golem Staffature: +5, Stone Golem Figurine: +12, Stone Golem Statuette: +25, Stone Golem Sculpture: +50, Stone Statue/Golem: +100.
Maximum Additional Components: 4.
Additional Sacrificial P.P.E.: 0.
Effects: The Iron heart turns the external surface of the golem into iron, usually a muddy black color.

Silver Heart (or any precious metal)
Physical Attribute Modifier: P.S. -2 P.P. +2 P.B. +1.
Heart M.D.C.: 15.
M.D.C. Modifier: Stone Golem Staffature: +2, Stone Golem Figurine: +4, Stone Golem Statuette: +8, Stone Golem Sculpture: +16, Stone Statue/Golem: +20.
Maximum Additional Components: 4.
Additional Sacrificial P.P.E.: 1D4.
Effects: Certain areas of the Golems body (dependent on likeness) with have small flecks of the precious metal on the surface of the creature stone body. A human or humanoid golem these areas would dominate the palms of the hand, the soles of the feet/or shoes, areas around the eyes etc. Note: This golem heart can only be created by a 2nd level (or higher) Golem Master.

Crystal Heart
Physical Attribute Modifier: P.S. -8 P.P. +2 P.B. -2 +10 Spd.
Heart M.D.C.: 10.
M.D.C. Modifier: Stone Golem Staffature: -1, Stone Golem Figurine: -2, Stone Golem Statuette: -4, Stone Golem Sculpture: -8, Stone Statue/Golem: -16, (yes those are minus).
Maximum Additional Components: 5.
Additional Sacrificial P.P.E.: 1D4+1.
Effects: The golem that has a crystal heart will have a number of tiny light reflective crystal flecks which are at random locations around the golem’s body. Note: This golem heart can only be created by a 4th level (or higher) Golem Master.

Step Three: Gem Components
The Stone Golem Master is able to add gems or additional components to their golem creation’s heart. The addition of these gem/crystal components; allow the creature an increase of abilities. Some of the additional components listed here can vary dramatically in duration (so take notice), after which the gems, which meld into the golem; effectively eliminates any bonuses of that gem, until it can be replaced. The amount of gems (additional bonus/ability), are dependent to the type of heart the golem has; the maximum of which are listed with each type of heart in the previous section. The gems are usually added during the creation process and only a Stone Golem Master can enable the proper effects or in the future replace gems that have worn out there duration. Once placed the gems themselves cannot taken out of the golem’s heart, and must expire before being replaced. All gem effects are cumulative and no other Magical O.C.C. other than the Golem Master understands the secrets of to endow a golem heart, with these additional gem/crystal components. Note: Gems can also be added to a standard golem creation that has been created by another Magic O.C.C., but modifier bonuses and duration of effect is cut in half. Only a total of 3 of these specialized components can be added to a non-Golem Master, golem and the gems themselves can only be activated by a Golem Master. Gems can be placed before the golem creation and activated at a later time as long as the Golem Master has the appropriate P.P.E.

Instant Regeneration
Requires: Agate (red-orange): 60 credits per carat.
Duration: Instant
Modifier: Regenerates 1D4 M.D.C. per carat instantly!
P.P.E.: 2, per carat.
Effect: The gem provides the golem with an instant boost of regenerative M.D.C. The effect can only be initiated by the Golem Master’s touch. The regenerative power destroys the channeling gem (turns to dust) and is limited to one use but can be replaced (later) by the Golem Master. An agate (red-orange) gem of 2 carats would restore 2D4 M.D.C.; a 3 carat gem would replenish 3D4 M.D.C. etc. The amount of M.D.C. stored in a single instance cannot exceed 5D4 M.D.C. and placing a gem that constitutes more than 5 carats does not increase effect.

Limited Increase of I.Q. & Comprehension
Requires: Agate (fire): 80 credits per carat.
Duration: 4 hours, per carat.
Modifier: I.Q. +2
P.P.E.: 8.
Effect: The Golem is briefly able to understand and obey language structure by the Golem Master that is above a basic or simple command. The Golem Master must be able to deeply concentrate (one melee round/60 seconds) on his command or request in order for the effect to take hold. Commands such as: “deliver this letter to so and so,” will require the mage to concentrate on the person, the letter, travel from their current location, and where the Golem Master thinks the person is located. There is of course a good chance if the request is too complicated the golem will not understand (G.M.s decision). The gem is limited in effect and duration to 4 hours per carat, and a gem consisting of more carats can be split into separate commands for later use. A gem of 3 carats could be active for either 3 semi-complicated requests or one request that takes up to 12 hours for the golem to perform.

Supernatural Vision
Requires: Alexandrite: 3,000 credits per carat.
Duration: One year, per carat.
Modifier: Night vision 100 feet (30m), crystal clear day time vision 2 miles (00.0km).
P.P.E.: 20. Only needs to be activated once for duration to begin.
Effect: Increases the golem’s natural daytime vision, as well as the golem can see in near total darkness. Once activated the effect of the gem lasts up to one year per carat, and the Golem Master does not need to expend any further P.P.E. for the golem’s increased vision ability.

Juggernaut
Requires: Amber: 600 credits per carat.
Duration: 24 hours, per carat.
M.D.C Modifier: Stone Golem Staffature: +2, Stone Golem Figurine: +4, Stone Golem Statuette: +8, Stone Golem Sculpture: +16, Stone Statue/Golem: +32.
P.P.E.: 15.
Effect: Golem is temporarily much more durable. The result of this increase only lasts 24 hours per carat of the gem and placing more than one gem or a gem with more carats does not increase the amount of additional M.D.C. The duration of effect can be increased by using a gem that is more than 1 carat by 24 hour increments; for instance a 2 carat gem would last for 48 hours and so on longer. Though the boost to the golem’s M.D.C. base is temporary, as long as the gems duration has not expired, the golem can have this extra M.D.C. healed at a stone pyramid, or by spell invocation. Once the duration is exceeded the gem (turned to dust) and its benefits are gone.

Defense Reflex
Requires: Amethyst: 400 credits per carat.
Duration: 48 hours, per carat.
Modifier: Parry +1.
P.P.E.: 8.
Effect: The Amethyst increases the golem’s ability to parry hand to hand attacks. Increasing the carat size only increases the Defense Reflex duration in increments of an additional 48 hours per carat. The Golem Master however place more than one of these gems in the golems heart which does offer incremental (+1 to parry) bonuses. The amount of gems placed is only limited by the hearts capacity for components. Each Amethyst still requires separate activation (P.P.E.), for effect.

Increased Physical Prowess
Requires: Andnodite: 500 credits per carat.
Duration: 24 hours, per carat.
Modifier: P.P. +1.
P.P.E.: 10.
Effect: Andnodite increases the golem’s movement and dexterity. A maximum of 3 gems can be introduced into the golems heart for cumulative (+1 P.P. each) for result. Increasing the carat amount does nothing to extend the duration of the gem, so most gems introduced into the golem’s heart are only 1 carat; a heavier carat is a waste and offers no additional bonus.

Sense Water
Requires: Aquamarine: 2,000 credits per carat.
Duration: 2 months, per carat.
Modifier: Sense water 5 miles (8km) away; 100 feet (30m) below ground.
P.P.E.: 20, but none once the gem effect is active.
Effect: The golem has the ability to sense water above and below ground when asked specifically to do so. The golem, if the location of water is sensed, usually chooses show their findings by simply pointing in the general direction; or shaking their head if none can be sensed. Increasing the carat size with increase the duration by standard (2 month) increments before the gem needs to be replaced. The benefit to this gem is that the Golem Master no longer (at least out in the field) has to expend his own P.P.E., to use his own sense ability.

Sense Magic
Requires: Chrysophase: 450 credits per carat.
Duration: 10 minutes, per carat; Five years per carat.
Modifier: Sense Magic in use at a maximum distance of 100 feet (30m); or general direction.
P.P.E: 1.
Effect: Similar to the Sense Water ability a golem with this gem can be asked to point if they sense the use of magic and the general direction or origin of the use. Golem is usually able to indicate general direction by pointing towards the source. A one carat gem can be used a total of 3 times before expiring, a two carat gem 6 times etc. In order to use the Sense Magic effect the Golem Master must be able to physically touch the golem (expend 1 P.P.E. point) before activating the gem.

Sense Earth Elemental
Requires: Chrysophase: 450 credits per carat.
Duration: 2 months, per carat.
Modifier: Sense Earth Elemental; 200 feet (61m) or general direction, if not by sight.
P.P.E.: 15.
Effect: The golem can sense the presence of an Earth Elemental, and will notify its Golem Master if one is in range of its sense ability, though simple speech. Increasing the carat size will extend the gem effect by 2 month increments; after sense effect is expended the gem will need to be replaced, if desired. Placing and activating the gem does not require the Golem Master to cue the golem or ask; the golem will notify the master of the presence for the duration of the gem.

Convey Message
Requires: Citrine: 4,000 credits per carat.
Duration: (special)
Modifier: Convey simple (30 words or less) message; 1 mile per carat.
P.P.E.: 8, per message.
Effect: The golem is able to hold within, a simple message to which the Golem Master designates usually a fellow Stone or Golem Master. The Golem Master must concentrate on his message placing his hand at the location of the golem’s heart. Range is the message can be delivered successfully is 1 mile per carat. After the message is centered into the citrine the Golem Master further concentrates on the specific location that the recipient can be found. As long as the receiver of the message is a fellow Golem Master they will be able to place their hand on the golem’s chest and decipher the message. The limits of this spell are that the golem is in a pacifist state in which there only purpose is to deliver this message, and cannot defend (nor will they try) themselves from a hostile force against them. “Convey message,” is usually only used in relatively peaceful city societies. A total of 10 messages can be delivered before the gem (and its effect) expires, or needs to be replaced. Note: Messages of this sort can only be deciphered by a fellow Golem or Stone Master.

Increased Strength
Requires: Diamond: 15,000 credits per carat.
Duration: 1 year, per carat.
Modifier: +2 P. S. attribute.
P.P.E.: 25.
Effect: The golem enjoys an increase to their P.S. attribute. Increasing the carat size by 1 will increase effects duration by 1 year per additional carat and so on. A maximum of 3 separate diamonds (never more) can be crafted into the golem heart for a strength gain of +6; this is the highest possible. Note: The Golem Master can also place diamond or emerald gems and use them to directly draw P.P.E.; this ability is described after this section.

Extend Gem/Effect Duration
Requires: Emerald (green): 16,000 credits per carat.
Duration: 2 years, per carat.
Modifier: Doubles the current duration of all gems.
P.P.E.: 50.
Effect: The placement of the emerald in the golem’s heart will double the duration (as each are listed specifically) for other Gems. The emerald’s own duration is 2 years per carat. If the emerald expires before another (or a gem that would of expired by normal duration) gem; then that gem will expire as well. Even Gems that are introduced later enjoy an increase of duration, until the emerald’s effects expire.

Sense Other Golem
Requires: Garnet (black): 2,500 credits per carat.
Duration: 3 years, per carat.
Modifier: Sense other golems up to 300 feet (91m) away, or identify golem by sight.
P.P.E.: 30.
Effect: The golem can sense the presence as well as recognize other golems by sight (98%) other golems. The gem or effect is considered active once the Golem Master places the gem and expends the appropriate amount of P.P.E., after this the sense ability is considered active at all times; and does not require a separate expenditure of P.P.E.

Sense and Hear the Creator
Requires: Garnet: (other colors): 1,000 credits per carat.
Duration: 1 year per carat.
Modifier: The golem can sense and hear its creator or obey commands from up to 5 miles (00.0km) away.
P.P.E: 6.
Effect: The Stone Golem Master must first address clearly his golem (most specifically name their golems during the creation process), while equally be able to concentrate on his desired message or command, line of site is not necessary, but a command must be (as usual) simple. “Golem come to me,” is such an example. The ability for the location of the Golem Master to be sensed is not automatic or “on” all the time. The Gem also allows the Golem Master to silently command his golem by thought.

Recognize Undead
Requires: Ivory: 20 credits per carat.
Duration: 2 hours, per carat.
Modifier: Able to sense the many forms of undead 300 feet (91m) away.
P.P.E.: 8.
Effect: The golem can recognize the undead by appearance, such as; zombies, vampires, ghosts, and spirits etc. The Golem Master only has to ask, ‘Golem do you sense these creatures are Undead?” Or a similar question such as this will work. The Golem is unable to relate direction (unless seen) to this sense ability but only knows that they are within range to be sensed.

Swift Regenerative Powers
Requires: Jade: 1,000 credits per carat.
Duration: Instant.
Modifier: Restores 1D6 per carat.
P.P.E.: 3 per chosen carat amount.
Effect: The golem can instantly heal up to 1D6 M.D.C. per carat upon designation of the Golem Master. There is no limit to the carat weight per 1D6 M.D.C. that the golem can instantly heal. This power can be used anytime but unlike the Increased Regeneration Gem/Power the Golem Master can specifically use up a portion of the gem without destroying the entire gem, or divide the effect used to be used at a later time. Note: Golems have excellent natural healing abilities; this gem is usually only used during combat situations.

Increased Magic Resistance
Requires: Lapis Lazuli: 5,000 credits per carat.
Duration: 1 month, per carat
Modifier: Saving Throw vs Magic bonus +2.
P.P.E.: 20.
Effect: Offers the golem increased resistance to magic attack or effect. Bonus to magic resistance is active for the duration of the gem and duration is limited to one month per carat. Placing more than one gem or additional carats does not increase the golem’s ability (+2 bonuses) to saving throw vs magic.

Increased Speed
Requires: Malachite: 2,500 credits per carat.
Duration: 1 month per carat.
Modifier: Spd. +2.
P.P.E.: 20.
Effect: Increase of the speed attribute base. Limits of this increase are that the golem must be in physical contact with a natural (earthly) surface. Contact with a synthetic surface such as metal, concrete, glass or similar will revert the Golems land speed capabilities to that of its original (Step One: size, likeness, and Step Two: Heart form) total. Duration per Gem for speed increase is one month per carat. Note: A golem that has been created with a Crystal Heart could have 6 of these gems placed (each of course activated separately) for an increase of +12 to the golems speed attribute total.

Light Eyes
Requires: Onyx: 1,000 credits per carat.
Duration: 10 minutes per use.
Modifier: Maximum Range 300 ft. (91m), in total darkness.
P.P.E.: 1.
Effect: Golem is able to produce a light source through their eyes designated by the Golem Master. A 1 carat gem can be utilized 20 separate times before expiration. A two carat gem could be utilized 40 times and so on up.

De-Animate (Stasis)
Requires: Opal (black): 600 credits per carat.
Duration: 2 years per carat.
Modifier: Golem is undetectable against natural magical sense abilities or invocation.
P.P.E.: 20.
Effect: The de-animate gem puts the golem in stasis and as well freezes the standard duration of other gem effects of the golems heart. The gem can be activated at any time but only removing the gem will change the golem in its active state. Note: Many of the Statue/Golems in Manoa are under the influence of this gem.

Improve Voice
Requires: Opal (fire): 700 credits per carat.
Duration: 1 year per carat.
Modifier: (special)
P.P.E.: 5 (2 P.P.E.).
Effect: The natural voice of a golem is hallow, monotone and void of emotion. Gem effect is used to improve the tone of the golem’s voice if desired. The Golem Master can also as a separate requested (an additional 2 P.P.E.) choose to have his golem increase the volume of his voice to 100 decibels, which can be effectively heard 1500 feet (457m) away.

Increase Traction
Requires: Opal (other colors): 500 credits per carat.
Duration: 1 year per carat.
Modifier: +30% to balance.
P.P.E.: 12.
Effect: Golem has superior traction or footing and it’s very difficult to cause them to lose their footing, as long as that footing is in contact with a natural or earthly surface.

Realistic Beauty
Requires: Pearl (black): 6,000 credits per carat
Duration: 5 years per carat.

Invocation: Cure Illness
Requires: Quartz (rose): 150 credits per carat.
Duration: Standard; 1-3 carat gem has three uses; 4-6 carat gem has six.
Modifier: None.
P.P.E.: 2.
Effect: Gem placement enables the Golem Master (through touch) to place his hand upon the golem and draw the power (spell/invocation) through gem magic while only having to expend one point of P.P.E. The gems duration and effect rules are listed in the previous section: Drawing Power from Stones.

Invocation: Energy Disruption

Strength of Heart
Requires: Ruby (deep red): 19,000 credits per carat.
Duration: 5 years per carat.
Modifier: +1 to the base M.D.C. of the golem’s heart, per carat.
P.P.E.: 30.
Effect: Increase of durability (M.D.C.) to golem’s heart, duration of this effect lasts 5 years per carat of the gem, unless the heart is destroyed. Add 2 points of M.D.C. per carat to the golem’s heart. Note: destroying the heart is the only way to actually permanently destroy a golem. The golem will reform itself in a matter of 1D4 days; though will need to be healed by magic or at a stone pyramid.

Reform Shape
Requires: Ruby (blue): 18,000 credits per carat.
Duration: Reform Shape is available in as many carats as the ruby (blue).
Modifier: Artistic shape.
P.P.E.: 30.
Effect: Golems that have been temporarily destroyed (but not the heart) will reform with the placement of this Gem to the exact likeness in which they were originally created. The gems duration is unlimited and is able to reform a stone golem once for each carat of the Gem. The placement of this gem is necessary for the golem to hold its original stone craft following its destruction during its natural regeneration process. A golem that has been temporarily destroyed requires this gem or suffers -2 to their original P.B. attribute upon re-formation.

Combat the Supernatural
Requires: Sapphire (black): 20,000 credits per carat.
Duration: 3 months per carat.

Duration: 1 year per carat.
Modifier: Spd. +4.
P.P.E.: 30.
Effect: Increases the natural speed attribute base of the golem. Limits of this increase are that the golem must be in physical contact with a natural (earthly) surface. Duration per Gem for speed increase is one year per carat. Note: A golem that has been created with a Crystal Heart could (theoretically) have 5 of these gems placed for an increase of +20 to the golems speed attribute total.

Last Command
Requires: Star Sapphire: 20,000 credits per carat.
Duration: 5 years per carat for later use, until commanded.
Modifier: None.
P.P.E.: 50.
Effect: The Golem is given a simple command to follow another being such as, “Golem You will now follow the command of so and so.” Another (perhaps as the Golem Master is about to die) example, “Golem you will destroy these creatures on site,” vampires-demons etc. This gem can only be placed during the initial creation process and only the creating Stone Golem Master has the ability to hand over his golem for use by another. The duration of this Gem is limitless, though even after being commanded the Golem will always follow first the Original command of its creator. The Gem may also be used to create a golem Watchguard over a specific or designated area.

Sixth Sense
Requires: Tiger Eye: 3,000 credits per carat.
Duration: 2 years per carat.

Psionic Ability: Mind Block
Requires: Tourmaline (black): 120 credits per carat.

Duration: Instant.
Modifier: Same as Invocation
P.P.E.: 2.
Effect: Gem placement enables the Golem Master (through touch) to place his hand upon the golem and draw the power (spell/invocation) through gem magic while only having to expend two points of his own P.P.E. The gems duration and effect is listed in the previous section: Drawing Power from Stones.

Step Four: Purpose (optional)
The last step in the creation process and one that further separates golem created by a Golem Master rather than by standard ritual is the designation (by the Golem Master) of purpose. The ritual in its final step requires the master to place two drops of his own blood to animate (animate; golems are not living) the golem, permanently expending the master’s own P.P.E. During this process the master is concentrating on the general purpose or function he wishes his golem to fulfill, which should additionally be within the player characters alignment or disposition. For role-playing fun the golem’s purpose can be as direct as the player charter wishes or even rather abstract. The idea is expanded here below, but this step should be considered optional, or at the very least, first desired to be included by both the player and G.M. Additionally the Golem Master may want to consider naming their golem (especially if they plan to control more than one at a time) in order to avoid easily confusing them.

Abstract Purposes: “Golem you are my friend (good alignments); “Golem you will obey me” (selfish alignments); “Golem you are my vengeance” (evil alignments).

Direct Purposes: “Golem you must protect me.” “Golem you are my mount.”

These are just a few very loose ideas that G.M.s and players can use to further bring their golems to designed use or purpose. G.M.s may decide to (or not) to let themselves or players use the forth step as a simple way to create a more diverse NPC or player character’s golem. The rest I leave up to you to decide.

I need to make a HUG gem... Then we could call it a "special hug." Taalismn, would you like a special hug from one of these golems? ;)

Lemme check the tensile strength of my cyborg bodies first....I'm pretty sure none of them have a 'charmin' rating.

"Depending on whether the subject being HUGged is organic or bionic, with the current tactile feedback restriction thresholds and strength ratings of our first-generation Build-a-Golems, we either end up with the equivalent of bloody spaghetti or extruded wire."

Is this something from one of the books or something you crafted on your own?

Either way I love it.

You know... I can't remember how I came up with it. Other than following (which isn't written here) the template of the Original Stone Master O.C.C. and then looking for the Rune Statues of Atlantis... And thinking what if Atlanteans used Stone Magic to make automans and the like and/or had a class of Stone Masters that studied this and the Golem Master was born... Also I thought they should be exclusive to Manoa, since that branch originates from the OG of Atlantis and is the only Atlantean Stronghold on Rifts Earth...

The Golem Master O.C.C. also has some unique features (like the stone master) to the O.C.C. I probably need to edit and revise it a bit so that I don't infringe on Palladium's IP (because they are similar) and give you folks a full treatment... of the class.

I'll do this. It's going to take sometime but I'll start another thread and construct it... That said, if anyone has any suggestions I'm open to it. Let me take a look after the weekend and see what I can whip up and whip up (again) without posting TMI in regards to Palladium's IP.

I will try. And glad you like the concept.

If you do leave your golem outdoors... You can place a gem that puts it in stasis... And if you're a mindful Golem Master you can wipe the poop clean and your Golem is none the wiser... It's the least the Golem Master can do. (dependable on alignment... of coarse!)

Either way, it might wonder about either the piles of toasted feathers or why it smells of detergent*...but that's if your golem is REALLY self-aware.

*While fast and arguably fun, sandblasting or powerwashng your golem is not recommended if you paint or enamel its surface, as such high-pressure, abrasive techniques can damage the expensive surfacing. Likewise the more powerful chemical cleaning agents can etch the surface of your golem and even damage embedded gems and sigils. Fortunately, more gentle means, akin to car-washing or monument polishing, can be readily obtained from your local municipal public works department or stonecutter shop. In fact, regularly marching your golem through the local carwash is an easy way to clean it up(just be sure to tip the attendant to look the other way and not notice any blood stains).
