TW pyramid and zombies

Unread post by boring7 »

So there's a chance that my Techno-Wizard is going to come upon a pyramid that no longer has a mage-in-residence. As much as I love building empires, installing a NEW caster to run things doesn't seem to be in the cards. So the question is "can I set up a techno-wizardry device that pulls directly off of the pyramid without some caster playing 'mana fence' to draw PPE and then pump it into the machine?" I would like to gift the locals with a device or two that will bolster their community (like Mend the Broken, a healing spell, or just Create Steel) but I don't know if that actually works without a caster as an "adapter" for the pyramid's power outlet.

On a completely unrelated (it's related) question, if you betray and murder a necromancer, what happens to his army of zombies he had as a garrison force back at his fortress? Do they rampage among his human followers? Stand there waiting for orders? Disintegrate? I'm thinking it's "stand there" but I don't know.

I do not see why you couldn't. If nothing else you could dismantle the pyramid and just make a Ley Line Powered Device that anyone can use.

The Zombies (and Mummies and Golems for that matter) will follow the last orders they had been given, but if the necromancer (or mage in general) that created them had designated any additional authorities they could take orders from those authorities.

Of course the GM can do something else.

I would allow it, though it might tax your Lore: Magic and design skill to integrate the TW device into the pyramid's power.

Teach some kids from the community to activate the device. The community gets the benefit of the device and the kids will retain more if their PPE and the ability to use TW into adulthood if they keep up the practice.

There are TW items that can recharge inside pyramids (merely by being placed there) or at ley lines/nexuses, so it should be possible to make a TW item that sits in the Pyramid and works off of the energy.

There doesn't seem to need to be someone to give you "permission" to use the Pyramid's power - you just have to know how to make a TW item work with Pyramid power.

(South America, CS Navy for items that recharge simply by being in pyramids).
Im loving the Foes list; it's the only thing keeping me from tearing out my eyes from the dumb.

SoT 6 TW made extensive use of pyramids in the city, as part of a public transit system.
The Clones are coming you shall all be replaced, but who is to say you have not been replaced already.

Soon my army oc clones and winged-monkies will rule the world but first, must .......

I may debate canon and RAW, but the games I run are highly house ruled. So I am not debating for how I play but about how the system works as written.

'Nother question in a similar vein. You can make a TW device with a specialist spell if you have the specialist. What about spell-like effects? Like if I want to make a wood-shaper device but all I have on hand is an herbalist who gets that as an OCC ability rather than an invocation (I don't recall if there even *is* a shape wood invocation/spell)?

It probably isn't critical, Team Mystic Kuznya/Techno-wizard probably don't have a market for mass-produced MDC silver weapons anyway, but there might be a niche market for a machine that prints indestructible shields.

Yes the guide in RUE have a clause for having some one else casting the spell.
