What Books For A Coalition as Player Characters Campaign

Unread post by Juce734 »

What are the best 5-10 books for running a Coalition Campaign (PCs as Coalition Soldiers) that a GM should have? I am wanting to run a series of games based on the Coalition as PC's. Figured with the grab bags maybe I will get lucky and be able to get a few books to run this.
Games: Savage Rifts, Fantasy Age, Dragon Age, Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition, Heroes Unlimited, TMNT, Ninjas and Superspies, and Rifts

Definitely the RUE, World Book 11 Coalition War Campaign, Sourcebook 1, Sourcebook 4: Coalition Navy, and depending on where/when you want to run the campaign I'd include World Book 22 Free Quebec, some of the Tolkeen War books, and the new Coalition books: Heroes of Humanity and the Arsenal book when it comes out. There are some Chi-Town adventure books as well that you may have an interest in.

* Rifts main book (ultimate edition)
sourcebook 1 is likely useful, for the robot rules, archie, and some other things.
Mercanies may be helpful due to additional equipment (and possible enemies)
10 juicer uprising but more additional material not core
* 11 coalition war campaign LOTS more gear, and general information
* 13 lone star much more info on texas, mutant animals, in general and dog boys in particular, including much more info on their "training"
14 new west supplemental material more enemies, opponants, and similar
* 22 free quebec

* you can make a good argument for coalition navy

the siege on Tolkeen series (1-7 )

adventure sourcebook series chi-Town burbs 1-4

which basically says ~6 "core" books IMO, 10 core and secondary core books, 17 coalition titled books
and around 20 total

RUE-setting rules
CWC-dedicated book of occs and gear.
Loan star-Mutant animal hand book.
CS navy-CS water operations info and new occs.
(I would say priority in that order.)

Those are the books that deal with cs player charters.
Between those you should have just about every CS OCC and list of standard CS gear. They also include basic information on enemies.
The Clones are coming you shall all be replaced, but who is to say you have not been replaced already.

Master of Type-O and the obvios.

Soon my army oc clones and winged-monkies will rule the world but first, must .......

I may debate canon and RAW, but the games I run are highly house ruled. So I am not debating for how I play but about how the system works as written.

If you don't mind Optional material

Riifter 2 has Cyber-jacking rules and a CS OCC
Rifter 15 has more CS Cyborgs
Rifter 18 has the CS Bio-Warfare Division
Rifter 19 has CS Support Vehicles
Rifter 23 has CS Target Acquisition Troops (Snipers) and building an Army tables.
Rifter 32 has the Coalition Cook OCC and Cooking rules.
Rifter 34 has CS Vampire Hunter MOS
Rifter 42 has CS Digital Warfare, Artillery, Robots and other items.
Rifter 57 has CS Robots, Vehicles, and Weapons
Rifter 64 has info on the CS PSi-Batttalion

Probably a few other things I'm missing.

Will you primarily be playing inside or outside CS territory?

--flatline
I don't care about canon answers. I'm interested in good, well-reasoned answers and, perhaps, a short discussion of how that answer is supported or contradicted by canon.

If I don't provide a book and page number, then don't assume that I'm describing canon. I'll tell you if I'm describing canon.

I haven't decided yet. Probably both but starting inside CS territory.

I've got RUE, England, GMs Book, and Adventures Book. That is most of my Rifts books. I do have some Rifters as well.

Dragonfett has it, I *asterisked the books I deem really indispensable, but the others are plenty useful too, depending on what and where you intend to play.

Mainly so that the GM can have the players fighting them if they want to (it can even be after the Mechanoid Invasion has been "resolved" by some other group and the players are fighting stragglers that are left).

I believe the hacking section of Rifter 2 is flagged official. Just because something is in a rifter does not mean it is just optional.

Instead of focusing on all the available CS material, remember that the campaign has to occur somewhere and that there have to be antagonists. Make certain you've got the details you need to add depth to the setting of the campaign and the antagonists.

Of course, you could come up with all that yourself if you wanted to, but using something from the books can make that easier.

I agree very much with this - RMB or RUE, the corebook already offers some nice variety of resources & options to play with a CS, that can be established in a number of locales, in or out of CS territory, depending on circunstances. That said a GM can already throw a good bunch of randomized variety using the monster-making table from RMB with just minimal tweaks.

Most CS source books include adventure ideas, and CS navy even talks about some threats.

Using just loan star you have a few campaign options such as clearing out the rat infestation.
