The interesting thing is that most if not all have text descriptions (I think RMB stuff had that as well) while a lot of artwork in the Rifts series lacks descriptions or subtitles. That provides an interestingly greater sense of authority to the text purists out there who require text to say something for it to matter. Text accompanying an image definitely does that, allowing us to throw what they show around with more weight.
Page 108 bottom-left gives an interesting size comparison between the head of a UAR-1 Enforcer (honestly thought this was a rock the first few times I saw it... it blends well) and a scholar (I assume human?) sitting on it.
Page 109 top-left shows visible waves coming from a Mind Melter's head. Not sure what power it should be and if this is something plain to anyone or if it's possibly from the context of someone able to see psychic energies (who would that be, anyway?)
Page 109 top-right shows another psychic using Telekinesis, and it appears like they're able to lift 4 rocks with it. The more interesting thing is that 3 Coalition troops seem to be knocked back simultaneously from this barrage. Is there a way to do a technique like that? Reason to perhaps allow a psychic to 'stock' melee attacks (wave it and do nothing) to allow them to do 3 attacks at once, kind of like a power punch is sort of like 2 at once (even though it's against one guy) ?
Page 110 is super-interesting and what led me to want to make the thread. Top-left I think is of that King of Tolkeen guy? I think he was a LLW so the descrip fits. Top-right's Ley Line Rifter seems to illustrate the idea of tapping a ley line's PPE with right hand while shooting a Fire Bolt or something along those lines (maybe a Gout?) from their left.
Mid-left is where it gets interesting. "A Mystic with magical protection". I recognize this as the cover art by Mark Evans from Rifter 19, except R19 is in better detail yet only shows the central portion, since it's zoomed. Both are useful for differing purposes. R19p5 described it "The attractive but forecful (or at least "force field") young lady could be a psychic or one of the new practitioners of magic to appear out of the ashes of Chaos Earth."
RUE appears to confirm both, as Mystics are both psychic and a new practitioner that came from the ashes of Chaos, and we know Rifts Earth follows Chaos Earth. So we know it is 'magical protection' but I don't know if we should take R19's parenthesized "force field" comment to heart or not. This blue aura has some significant characteristics. Firstly, it is not protecting the woman's clothing. The beams of energy (I would wager lasers) are clearly burning right through her white shirt above in 3 places, most clearly on the upper portion.
At first I wanted to drop this into the discussions about Impervious to Energy, but then I realized that it isn't a candidate, because that doesn't make energy bounce off of you, nor does it describe a blue aura. Does anyone have any idea of a spell this might more closely resemble?
I wonder if possibly the Deflection spell?
RUEp110 bottom-right's creepy "dark god", I want to know more about him. Same with the unidentified "Demon" a shifter is making a pact with on the bottom-right. Would this have to be a Demon Lord? 'Mirin his modest loincloth.
Pg111 upper-right has "enchanted armor" worn by a Techno-Wizard. At first I assume this meant TW armor but TWs can wear non-TW stuff so dunno, implied perhaps but not explicit. Cool green glow. Hard to follow what Steve Roberts has happening in this busy event. Looks like 2 green lines hitting her from behind (right side of image), one coming from the lower-left of the image to cross her chest and hit her left hand on the right side of the image.
Another coming from the upper-left of the image and either missing her or barely grazing her belt or something and hitting the ground... almost looks like gems in the ground... OMG is that a FACE? Kind of wondering if this might have been intended to be on Wormwood or something. Looks like some kinda skyCycle in the background but I think a few of those exist there.
Any ideas on what this green aura spell might be? Anyone want to invent spells in Rifter based on them if nothing in canon fits?
