Question about Protection Circle: Simple

Unread post by kronos »

The spell says it protects against lesser demons.. but what about deevils?
And does anyone know where a list of lesser demons/deevils can be found?

Protection Circle: Simple was likely intended to protect from deevils as well as demons, sinse it effects ANY kind of evil supernatural being, really...

Conversion book one, as well as the Hades and Dyval book, which are more complete with new demons/deevils.

Does that mean it doesn't protect you from Anarchist-aligned Devilkins?

I was wrong, it's "lesser supernatural beings" of any type and of any alignment :D

So wild, maybe secondary, but not master vamps? *wonders how creatures of magic like dragons fare here* Has not always been clear on the dividing line for lesser/greater supies since they don't all get labels.

Creatures of magic are not effected, they are not supernatural beings. there is a distinct differnce even if the books are unclear on the case of individual beings which ones they are. dragons are explictly creatures of magic and will never be bothered by protection circles.

Also, I remember it somewhere that all vampires are considered greater supernatural beings, but I really cannot remember or cite the reference.

At one point they were greater demons but that was PRPG prior to the wild/secondary/master distinctions, though Vkingdoms still had the occasional 'demon' phrasing, not sure if that still meant greater.

Do not confuse the supernatural being category of "demon" with the demon faction of "Demons from Hades", commonly referred to as just Demons. (little d vs big D). There are other demonic factions who's members include demons as well, such as Chaos Demons or Deevils of Dyval.

- demon: A supernatural being which can be further broken down into three categories: Lesser (in which the spells Protection: Circle and Summer Lesser Being target), Greater, and AI/Lord.
- Demon: A member of the demonic faction Demons whom hail from the dimension of Hades. Demons employ supernatural beings such as demon-kind and sub-demons as well as mortals in their armies.

The RUE version of the spell specifically mentions that it protects against "lesser beings" which both the demonic factions of Demons and Deevils (and other factions such as Chaos) have supernatural beings that fall into that categories.
