Scholar Adventurer Classes

Unread post by Bill »

What classes outside of the core rulebook are or should be considered scholar adventurers? If there is already a thread on this, please provide a link.

Thanks in advance.

<edit> For convenience, I will attempt to list the A/S classes here with source. Please feel free to argue in favor or against any particular class being included in this list. My own criteria for inclusion are that the class be described as a variant or combination of one or more adventurer/scholar classes. Any compelling argument would be enough to add an otherwise unidentified class. It's kind of gray area at times; wilderness scout variants often have as many combat skills and abilities as Man at Arms classes.

Can't think of any that are not in the RMB or RUE in the Rifts setting books.

There is a Scholar OCC in "The Old Ones" book page 14

Bogatyrs are also adventurer-class for some reason even though they seem like clear man-at-arms to me.

So it is. I agree with you, they're a variant of knight. If it were not canonically an adventurer class, I wouldn't include it.

There is a list on page 280 of the GMG although there are many on the list which I don't think should be, like the Demon Queller.

Edits the list down to "scholar adventurers".

Rogue Scholar (Ultimate Edition)
Rogue Scientist (Ultimate Edition)
Barbarian Nurturer (Dinosaur Swamp)
Legacy Scout (Dinosaur Swamp)
Naturalist (Dinosaur Swamp)
Pathfinder (Dinosaur Swamp)
Swamp Stomper (Dinosaur Swamp)
Preacher (New West)
Salvage Expert (Underseas)
Tritonian Scientist (Underseas)
Bogatyr (Warlords of Russia)
Explorer (Warlords of Russia)
Travelling Story Teller (Warlords of Russia)

I don't have NG1 so I can not comment ether way if these are "scholar adventurers".
NG Bush Pilot (Northern Gun I)
NG Robot Control (Northern Gun I)
NG Sales Rep (Northern Gun I)

Now if you had meant scholars & adventurers....that is another story.

Why not? Just because the entire description describes them as a warrior? :D

Demon Queller was always a great class for a slightly munchkin cb1 super-power character who also knows some magic and has enough PPE to use TW weapons (have them be a major psychic as well for full munchkin). They did end up a bit light on skills, however.

Declared the ultimate authority on what is an error and what is not by Axelmania on 5.11.19.

I must remember this!

*rolls up APS Metal Demon Quellers*

Am wondering, assuming that some rogue scholars do not adventure and some operators are not scholars, do you think the section ought to have said "or" rather than "and"?

"scholar adventurers" are adventuring scholars (e.g.: Indiana Jones).....which is what was asked for in the OP.

*nods* Not all adventures are scholars.
