Propose a Rifts World Book

Unread post by earthhawk »

Is there a region of the world that you would like to see turned into a Rifts world book? Not anything that was commisioned in the past or slated for the future, but something that KS may have not ever thought about doing. For me it would be Rifts: Hawaii. I would like to see how they survived the cataclysm being on the tiny chain of islands in the Pacific ocean. I think would stone magic and biomancy would be the rule of thumb as opposed to psionics or technology. A royal family of elemental fusionist could rule the people, reigning from their compound located at the top on Mt. Haleakala . These are just a few of my ideas. Which world book would you put on your wish list?

There is a neat write up on Hawaii in one of the newer Rifters if I remember correctly.
I am currently working on a Rifter Article for Jersey with a friend on the board just for the heck of it too--not the same thing but worth mentioning.

How about...

World Book: Counter-Earth

An official parallel reality where Tolkeen won. That'd sure put an end to a lot of the arguments around here.

RIFTS: Through The Looking Glass.

I'd like to see a book depicting alternate realities, timelines, NPCs and rules for creating twisted versions of our own PCs.

Honorable mention: RIFTS: Hollow Earth.

Just kidding. ;)

Exactly.

Palladium would OFFICIALLY have Mole People. Plus, Journey to the Center of Earth... the light of the planet... the Earth Spark! Then there is the whole Reptiloid conspiracy theories that are completely untapped "They want our women."

Man!

Dinosaurs, ancient lost Atlantean military facilities, antediluvian man! Ancient forgotten magic and ruins!

Its like Indiana Jones with ancient gods and mole people! In fact I am going to just send a PM to kevin right now saying Rifts: Hollow Earth. With the entrance on either pole (as the actual theory goes) and volcano people and cannibals that were formerly humanity that had devolved and...

Just ******* win man, total ******* win!

2) RIFTS Coaliton Navy 2 "Unleashed series" (the NEW navy after the destruction of the fleet in the war against Free Quebec).

3) RIFTS The Federation of Magic 2 "Unleashed series" (the war against the Coalition has begun).

4) RIFTS Ascencion Island, Malvinas/Falklands;

5) RIFTS South America 3 (to fix the parts that in my opinion were wrong: The Silver River Republics need an overhaul; the Archons are on the move!!!).

Coalition Book 2 Coalition Military (Having collected and updated the ca military oops, officers, units, and the "new" CS gear, it's easy to forget but it's been like ten+ years since world book 11
Coalition Book 3 Coalition Expenditary Force ( A book with tha plans for exploration, and expansion. Could include rift study group and the long range exploration teams. Could also cover the CS "Outside" the CS, like thei forces in theNGR and other places.

Not mentioned that I've seen:
Rifts: Kittani (Triax 2-style)
Rifts: D-Bee Series (ex Vernulians, Centaur, etc fleshed out like Shemarrian Nation did with the Shemarrians)

I really don't want to see CS mk2 books as far as gear.

Mars

Main idea: in ancient times, the Red Planet was strong with ley line activity while Earth was weak. While it never developed intelligient life natively, it was a kind of dimensional crossroads for thousands of years, and several differrent peoples lived there for generations before being killed/ dying off/ moving on.

The book would basically take the theories of Richard C. Hoagland (there are 5-sided pyramids and giant faces built on tehsurface by ancient peoples, ect.) and say that they were true. The book would be filled with all kinds of ancient ruins, plus the abandoned terraforming colonies from the Golden Age. Moreover, the Greek/Roman god from whom the place takes its name has made it part of his personal realm, and it is to Mars that the summons minions to train them to take part in battles across the wider Megaverse. Oh yeah, there are also Archons living there now.

Much of the Caribbean is very mountainous, much more of it would stay above water than you might think. Also, many of the islands have volcanic activity - it's possible several new islands formed during the Coming of the Rifts or per-existing islands actually got bigger.

So, I don't think a Caribbean World Book is out of the question.

Also, those islands are in relatively close proximity to the dimensional vortex that is the Yucatan, so the standards that should put them under water may not apply..

I think all the suggestions are great.

Many of them can be done in splat books like the Adventure books or Shemarrian Nation. Be quick to whip up (relatively speaking)

Personally I'd like to see a book that covers the original idea behind Chaos Earth. Rifts Earth where the major powers survived the Coming of the Rifts.

Edit I meant the original premise of Chaos Earth.

Rifts: Subterranean (into the Underworlds) From the mole ppl, reptilians, underground D-bees, to Inhumanoids, this one screams at me!
Rifts: New Islands (Certainly with all the Earth has undergone, new islands should have emerged from the seas, been created & or Rifted here.)
Rifts: Wrath of the Gargoyles (A return of this iconic Rifts empire with a new darker leadership)
Rifts: Africa 2
Rifts: Monster Kingdoms of Europe (From what I have been told by Galactus Kid, this one is Auto WIN!)
Rifts: India bks 1 & 2 (It would take two books to try and cover everything)
Rifts: Sky Kingdoms

;)

Also forgot how close area 51 is to think that could be a book that could be fun. Maybe have it a zombie wasteland where all the dead the mob barried in the desert come to life again lol.

The thing with vegas is... it'd just be gone. lol with out water pumped to it every day the city would die in a matter of weeks. That's with people alive to take care of it. The desert itself would reclaim vegas in very very very short order. With out even there being a world wide Apocalypse, just.. say the people up and left vegas. it'd be reclaimed by the desert in a few years. Some of the mega buildings might be standing but the little stuff wouldn't.

Add in the earth quakes and stuff with the coming of rifts and those mega buildings likely fell and the desert moved in and took it.

You might get an archeological dig there. I'd imagine it'd be baffling to people digging it up in rifts earth. "Why did people build this here in the middle of a desert?" "Maybe it wasn't a desert then?" "No no... the pamplets and stuff we can find says it was" "A city based on gambling, in the middle of the desert? That doesn't seem smart" lol

You're in luck. Josh Sinsapaugh and I are going to be working on a lot of things for Europe next year which should really make a lot of people happy.

I guess my wanting to see the original premise behind Chaos Earth is not something others want to see

Rifts: Archeology for all those Pre-Rifts sites of interest
Rifts: American Northeast one of the most untouched area on the continent
Rifts: Space not enough outerspace stuff for our own dimension

I myself have started working on a Rifts - Space but it is not anywhere near close enough to being good enough or complete enough to even propose to PB yet.

I do. I want more dimension books, and have even tossed around the idea of writing one or two.

There will be plenty of stuff that isn't from Europe. Just not from me for the time being, unless we're counting Rifter articles.

Another one....Rifts - England revised and expanded. I always found it VERY odd there wasn't a tech kingdom anywhere to be found.

Well The hollow earth idea sounds really cool.

if we get too many world books that would leave little room for imagination and stuff we like to add in.

a Full Fledged book on the solar system with updated tech and any secrets from pre cataclysm (rumors mostly)

Give us more info........updates and a general diagram of the known solar system. gotta know what happened to the other Arkhons who fled and supposedly hang out at mars with the bugs.

Just a note: Madhaven, Spirit West, Shemarrian Nation and Free Quebec all have info on the Northeastern Old American Empire. Granted, Free Quebec's info is only in passing.

I'd love to see a Northeast World Book though, eitherway.

EDIT: Plus, a HL&S in Adventures in Dinosaur Swamp has a Republican operative with a Boston accent... possibly placing the new Republican HQ somewhere in the Old New England Wilderness.

Rifts New West pg22-3 "Bandito Arms: The Legacy of Area 51" covers Area51, Vegas is in ruins, w/nearest community 150miles away from Groom Lake. Also notes a secret base at Nellis AFB (near Vegas).

Now the Black Market could re-open Vegas, but it might be to close to their Nellis and A-51 compounds for their tastes.

I'd think, unless they do a dedicated Republicans book, that the Northeast really is pretty well covered by what you already mentioned. I'd rather a Pacific Northwest/Canadian Pacific Coast book.

I also hope Black Market will cover their Area 51 Operations etc.

I disagree. While those books cover the Northeast they do not do so in any sort of detail beyond the subjects they are covering.

The following could/should be covered in more detail:

The Longhouse Preserve
The "baronies" mentioned in Free Quebec that exist between the Preserve and the Quebecois.
Republican HQ (possibly in Mass, as I noted above)
The Pirate Kingdom of Montreal
Small feudal "kingdoms" (and I do mean small).
The areas of high magic activity noted on the map in the original Rifts RPG.

And a bunch of other ideas I have been kicking around for 10+ years.

Interesting. You've got me convinced :) Each of those could probably be covered pretty well by a Rifts Adventure Book sized book (ala The Vangaurd etc) but mot any bigger than say Shemmarrian Nation.

I still want a Pacific Northwest/Canadian Pacific Coast book though.

Other than the Shemarrians (which book I do NOT have), a Native American Preserve (small mention) and Madhaven (which is one city), I am not aware of anything else that has been placed in the American Northeast. With very little information about the Native Americans in the area, that leaves the Shemarrians and Madhaven. This leaves alot of open territory between North Carolina and the Canadian border. It is something in the neighborhood of thousands of square miles that are completely nothing. If this is the case, then I have no problems, but I think as the largest concentration of population Pre-Rifts it could see some interesting books detailing the area, even if it is nothing more than just highlighting interesting archeology sites.

I'd think all of those could be covered in one World Book, or a World Book and one or two adventure sourcebooks a la Chi-Town Burbs or Shemarrian Nation.
