Amphibious power question

Unread post by SittingBull »

under #3 sticky tongue bonuses: The tongue shoots out with amazing speed, like a bullet, and is +5 to strike, +2 to disarm, +2 to entangle, and +3 to DODGE. No other bonuses apply to the tongue in combat.

Now is the dodge a misprint or is that dodge to help the character yank the tongue, out of the way, before someone hits it?

I always used it as a plus to dodge the tongue out of the way when someone tried to cut it of the such. Stacking with any other dodge bonus the character had so the tongue would not get cut off or grabbed. Face it...without a tongue speaking is a hard thing to do.
yay, even more madness to put in my little black book ^^ all hail the little black book.

Not really sure if you should stack the bonus a tongue like this gets with other dodge bonuses... it is a specific body part and not the full body (which gets that bonus). It's not like you add this bonus to the rest of one's body. It is basically a reflection of the tongue's ability to avoid attacks on its own when used to attack someone... but since it isn't the character's full body, it's bonus is quite limited (to just this bonus).

Yes, you could argue that moving the rest of one's body can help the tongue get out of the way of an attack... and to a degree that is true, but it is still a long extended appendage that is vulnerable to attack... and it doesn't have quite the same coordination at the rest of the body.

In the end, it is your call as to what works for your games.
