Power Category Exemplars

Unread post by Fermat »

I don't think this counts as a conversion post, since I am not trying to work out any mechanics or such. If I'm wrong, please delete it

For a while, I've been putting together a list of films for players to understand the various Power Categories. Both to help them understand their style and to occasionally help to decide on what they want to play.
I work under three rules: the Character exemplifying the power category must be the main character, no teams unless they are all the same category, and no animated films. I prefer movies based close to the modern day. However, I have hit a wall with a few categories. Now, to be clear I personally allow a fairly wide field in my games, so be prepared.

Here's What I have (I will accept improvements):
Alien: John Carter of Mars; Bionics: Robocop; Empowered: Daredevil; Eugenics: I, Frankenstein; Experiment: Spiderman; Gestalt: Swamp thing; Hardware (Analytical): Iron Man; Hardware (Electrical): Girl with the Dragon Tattoo; Hardware (Mechanical): Speed Racer; Hardware (Technical): FX; Hardware (Weapons): Punisher; Imbued; Limitless; Demi-God: Hercules; Immortal: Highlander; Reformed Demon: Hellboy; Vampire: Underworld; Magic (Object): Green Lantern; Magician (General): Sorcerer's Apprentice; Mutant (Animal): TMNT; Mutant (Human): Wolverine; Mega-Hero: Superman; Natural Genius: Sherlock Holmes; Physical Training: Remo Williams; Psionics (Specialist): Push; Robot (AI): Terminator 2; Robot (Piloted): Black Lightning; Special Training (Assassin): Wanted; Special Training (Demon Hunter): Helsing; Special Training (Thief): Saint; Special Training (Martial Artist): Jackie Chan; Special Training (Slayer): Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Special Training (Stage Magician): The Illusionist; Special Training (Super Spy): James Bond; Super-Invention: Cowboys vs. Aliens; Super-Soldier: Captain America

Here's what I'm missing
Hardware (Chemical), Hardware (Magical/TW), Hardware (Medical), Magic (Endowed), Magic (Specialist Magician), Psionic (General), Special Training (Hunter), Special Training (Soldier), Symbiote, Ancient Weapons Master (both Ranged and Melee)

Iron Man is Robotics/Analytical Hardware (read the Rifter magazine that had an article on Dual Class, they're basically Mega Heroes)

Yeah, this is a bit too close to walking the "no conversion" rule.
Sorry folks, but I got to lock this down.
