A question on the power 'Bio Armor'

Unread post by SpiritInterface »

I have a character with the power Bio Armor and I just reread the power and have a question on the last sentence, "Does not protect against psionic or magical attacks, nor against gasses or disease (breathes air like everybody else)." Does that mean that all psionic and magical attacks bypass the armor completely?

Short hand for: Its not a fully environmental armor that the stated can't get through under rifts rules.

Or to say the char is vulnerable to mental attacks via magic or Psi.
May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.
Each question should be give the canon answer 1st, then you can proclaim your house rules.

It would depend on the magic or psi-power used.

Powers like Psi-sword or Fireball would not by pass the Bio-Armor as they create a tangible energy that interacts physically with the person.

Powers like Bio-Manipulation, Empathic Trasmition, Hypnotic Suggestion, Fear, Carpet of Adhesion and such require saves vs. psionics or magic and thus are unaffected by the armor. Additionally, abilities that create environmental factors, such a tear gas or such would also bypass the armor as it is not a full environmental armor and doesn't protect against such attacks.

Rule of Thumb... if it requires a roll to hit the character, the Armor will work against it. If it requires a save vs. psionics or magic, the armor doesn't protect the character. There are some exceptions, but they are usually described in the powers/abilities themselves.
There are three types of people in the world; those who can count and those who can't.

Certain spells state that they cannot bypass heavy armor--this is simply saying any spell that would normally be blocked by armor is not blocked by this.
