Hi Guys,
How many problems have you had with the powers in this book? Do you let any of the powers stack? Like Super Pile Driver, Demon Slayer & Super Speed together? I have a player who thinks these powers stack so he can make a character that can instantly kill anything or come close to it. I told him these abilites don't stack. That these are seperate powers that do there own damages. What do you guys think?
Thanks guys for your help.
What Powers stack in Heroes of the Megaverse?

In HU its clearly stated only powers that alter the character do not stack. Healing powers are also explained.

Howeve, the book "Heroes of the Megaverse" falls outside of the realm of Heroes Unlimited for the most part as it was written with a Rifts flavor and not exactly Heroes Unlimited, though it was based on Heroes Unlimited.
I dont think I have a copy of the book anymore, but I do believe that somewhere in the book it mentions how many of the powers you can take.
Also if you mean by stacking that:
Power A: Gives an Energy Blast doing 1D6x10 and
Power B: Gives an Energy Blast doing 2D6x10
would the damage be combined? Well - that could be tricky -- are the powers of such a nature that they can BOTH be used at the same time? If yes, then the character "could" fire both beams individually at the same target but would be dividing their strike bonus by half I believe. This could also, possibly count as 2 or more attacks.

Re: What Powers stack in Heroes of the Megaverse?
Demon Slayer and Super Pile Driver would stack damages, but not the way your player might be thinking. It would not be a ×5 multiplier for a body slam, multiplied again ×3 for versus a greater Demon, for a ×15 multiplier! (and I assume the Super Speed is added in there for the high damage ramming attacks at high speed which would then run through the multipliers?) It would not even be a ×8 multiplier.
Here's how you figure this. To start with your base damage, let's say a speed of 300 for the "ramming attack/body slam" (I'll consider the character in the same class as a motorcycle for this): 1D6 per 10 mph means a base damage of 3D6×10.
Now, let's assume for the sake of the example that the player made his strike roll high enough to overcome the Greater Demon's natural A.R., but did not roll a critical strike (remember - under the A.R. does NO DAMAGE).
Let's take a look at the multipliers - it looks like the other two powers are trying to take that 3D6×10 damage and multiply it by 3 and by 5, for a total of ×15. This is incorrect!
Demon Slayer makes the character do triple damage. That's (3D6×10 (the base) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10).
Super Pile Driver makes the characters body slams to quintuple (×5) damage. That's (3D6×10 (the base) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10)
Notice how each of those two start with the base damage? That's not an error - the error is if you factor it in each time. So the total damage to figure here is (3D6×10 (the base) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10 (the base) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10). Or, more simply, (3D6×10) ×7!
So basically, you figure the multipliers add together, but then you subtract 1 for each additional thing giving a multiplier.
Another example: Let's say the next attack was a critical strike. Now that's ×2 for the critical, ×3 for the Demon Slayer, and ×5 for the Body Slam. That amounts to: (3D6×10 (the base) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10 (the base) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10 (the base) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10) + (3D6×10). Or, more simply, (3D6×10) ×8 base damage.
And yes, it's a lot of damage and an arguably broken combo. Conversely, don't consider the character equivalent to a motorcycle and instead use the damage values presented in the Extraordinary Speed and Sonic Speed powers. Also consider that the initial base damage from the ramming attack also applies to the character as well.
