Making our own Familiar...

Unread post by pblackcrow »

I had a thought...What about making our own familiars by carving a small hand carved statue from quartz crystal and using a stone to flesh spell than the breath of life, indowl/teach it certain abilities, and then cast the spell familiar on it.

HP, SDC, would it require food, or even have organs, etc?

I doubt stone to flesh then breath of life would work to make it work. Look what you have to go through to get just a golem moving. The creature wouldn't have a brain, internal organs. Its would just be a chunk of steak that breath of life would do nothing too. (Would probably taste good if cooked with a nice shiraz and some garlic and some wild rice)

Conjurers however could probably do it.

This is covered in the Rifter article that expands the TtGD familiar mod. text.

Collectively call action golems.

I don't think it will work to create a familiar, though it could create a Zombie-Like creature based on precedent set in Elemental Magic.

Warlocks have a spell chain with forks in it allowing three outcomes: zombie-like or golem-like (stone/iron). It is mentioned under "Sculpt & Animate Clay Animals" (PF2E pg232, Level 7 Earth Element Magic), the Zombie-Like creature requires "Stone to Flesh", they all require "Clay to Stone" and "Breath of Life".

I'd allow it as kind of a cool idea.

I'm with Mark. It's not something I would have thought of. I'd allow it based on the clever use of spells.

The fact that it's carved from quartz or jade would make it a bit of a rarity, and also possibly extra SDC and or HP. Figure what, at least 1D6 for quarts and 1D4 for jade per cubic inch, or there abouts?
