Special materials for armors

Unread post by dragonfett »

Does creating armor (or weapons) out of special armors give it any bonuses? Like demon hide, dragon hide/scale, adamantine (does Palladium even have that?), bronze, etc.?

That topic is for weapons. What about armors?

It shows where most of the texts are for the special materials are in the PF books.

As Far as I know organic special materials (other then the stonewood trees) are not listed in the PF.

Dragon hide armor is listed in the Rifts Juicer Uprising book but that is Stat'ed for MDC settings.

Yeah, that was a fun little competition. We really ought to do another one sometime.

Anyway, to answer the OP, there are a number of special metals in Palladium Fantasy, including
Gantrium (Northern Hinterlands)
Black Iron (Northern Hinterlands)
White Iron (Northern Hinterlands)
Korobite (Northern Hinterlands)
Red Metal (Dragons & Gods)
Black Metal (Dragons & Gods)
White Metal (Dragons & Gods)
Chrysteel (Dyvaal)
Many of these could offer some interesting armor features.

"Could offer", but do they? I'm going to assume they're all intended for weapon construction.

nah...most of the text describe both if it was used as a weapon and if it was used for armor.

The reason I mentioned the weapon contest topic is because the organizer had us list where everything was, down to the page number.

White Iron makes terrible armor.

White iron armor is like one of those bronze health insurance plans on the Obamacare website. It helps against a huge hit, but it does nothing against lots of little ones. On the bright side, it won't have to get repaired as often, but on the downside, you will have to get healed more often.

After reading the entry on White Iron, I feel more confused than before I read it. How is it supposed to work?

Let's say you get hit by a hammer or something. The white iron deforms, transferring up to 20 points of damage through to you. Past that, it absorbs the damage like a regular armor. It's kind of weird.

Ah, basically you will only take a maximum of 20 points of SD/HP damage per attack. Got it now (I feel that it was written weird).

As long as it is under the armor's A.R., of course.

No matter how special your armor material is, it won't ever be better than those AR rings in Western Empire. Unless it's Gantrium.

Merp/Rolemaster had a nice range of materials that are easy to convert.

I have a Ley Line Walker that wears a suit of Gallu Demon Hide armor that he made himself and my character may or may not be making a trip into Palladium Fantasy, so I was wondering how well it would have converted.
