Palladium Fantasy Guild: Lets Hangout

Unread post by URLeader Hobbes »

Hello everyone who is interested in this.

To help get everyone on the same page, discuss organization and ideas I'd like to set up a date and time that we can all take part in a Google Hangout next week. What day of the week and what time works best for everyone?

After 6 PM EST Monday through Friday works best for me for the weekdays.

Some things to think about is the design for the world and setting as well as rules and clarifications. Also people who are willing to write and contribute adventures.

If you are interested post the time that works best here on the forums.

On the day and time we agree upon I'll post a link here on the forms so people can join the discussion. Look forward to chatting with everyone!

Lets do this!

I'd be interested but im on the other side of the world (UTC +10) so getting to meetings can be problematic during a work week.

I'm US side, but my schedule makes things like a chat super difficult. Seriously, there's a reason most of my posting is done from my phone

not for nothing but I am not a fan of hangout for the reason it has to be live......I can't say yes to any particular time due to work and family. posting and back forth is easy enough as I can do that if I happen to be on my laptop or my phone at anygiven time
I am very opinionated. Yes I rub people the wrong way but at the end of the day I just enjoy good hard discussion and will gladly walk away agreeing to not agree :D

I'm on Arizona time (yes, we actually are a separate time zone) . I'm a full time (and then some) student, doing field work. When at home, I'm a full time daddy and husband.

I might be able to move my lunch hour around in the middle of the day if that would be easier.

We could record the discussion to be watched later. Hangouts is great that way. You And others could post your thoughts after the fact. Effectively the same as posting. Nothing has to be decided then and there.

Hangout is great for chatting. For actually trying to get a discussion done, I've always found it to be lacking.

And yeah, people can watch it "later" and post comments... but by that time, the conversation is really pretty much over.

Sunday is my only good day.

Let's also keep in mind significantly more people are on fb than hangout.

Also you can do do chat in fb just not audio/video.

In addition, as odd as it may seem, a lot if people still do not use or have webcams which will be an issue on hangout chats as well.

You need a webcam to chat in a Google hangout? I thought all you needed was a mic and speakers/headset.

Yeah, you can just use voice. No cam required. Or just type as well.

And having people do all three can feel disjointed and can be confusion as people all while others try to keep by typing.

And again there are likely more people on fb, where can do a live chat even if it us only text, meaning less people need to switch to something they don't use.

Would the best direction be the one that allows the most people to participate?

Facebook isn't going to resolve this issue. Whatever though, I can use Facebook if that's what everybody wants to do.

Or just say screw it, and keep discussing it here.

I never said fb would resolve this issue. I said it has the ability to have more people reached and involved. Hangout is ok. It just isn't broad reaching enough. Especially for a game that is no where near as far reaching as a pathfinder or d&d.

Fb just has more people on it thus is more likely to attract people to get involved with a project of this nature.

Such are the curses of social media.

We'll never come to a consensus on the media or the date, everybody has lives and schedules.

Our options are to keep discussing it here, or simply declare a media and a date and who ever makes it, makes it.

Here would be ideal actually....but like hangout, it suffers the problem of not enough exposure since many do not even come to the forums.

That is the curse or social media. *nods*

However as it pertains to a consensus...seems to me what us needed is a cabal or high council rather than everyone adding two cents.

Yeah, that would be best.

Still, I'd like to get together and just discuss it a bit, and also put some faces to the names. No decisions have to be made, but just talk about it and throw some ideas back and forth in real time. Preferably record it, to post on youtube or twitch or whatever, and link to it here, so people can at least know what was discussed and put in their two bits.

It doesn't matter what method we choose, people are going to be left out. So let's just do something.

EDIT: My personal preference is Hangouts, only because I always feel the intense urge to shower after getting on Facebook. But like I said, it really doesn't matter.

Or a Skype call if people don't want hangouts- I like many have a varied schedule during work weeks, and some of the people I would like involved are overseas, so doing this on a weekend would be my personal preference.
Also, to get official Palladium support, either myself, NMI or Zenvis would need to be on the call/chat to be able to pitch it to them, as it would fall under the MA umbrella.

Uh, NOT under the MA umbrella. The MA program has enough issues, and little enough support. Personally, I want nothing to do with that.

I have a few issues (unrelated to the game itself) that will need to be addressed but I would like to see it have some sort "official" status.

OK I'll do a series of hangouts through out the next week. This way I'll be able to chat with people and get everyone's concerns, ideas and an idea of where things are and how we can all work together to bring this all in.

If you haven't done so please PM Goliath so you can be added to the FB Group.

Cheers!
